Once upon a time, there was an ugly little frog. He was a lonely frog who had no friends. But he did not mind. As long as he had enough food to live, he was happy.
But one day, he happened to meet another, equally ugly frog! He was overjoyed and they quickly became friends! They were good friends and did everything together, whether it be swimming, or catching food. It all seemed much more fun together!
But then, one day, his friend disappeared. The ugly little frog got incredibly sad. "I don't want to lose my friend!", he thought. "I don't want to be alone again!", he screamed inside head.
And so he set out to find his friend. He searched everywhere. He hopped through the whole forest for his search and dived to the deepest part of their favorite pond, but it was all in vain.
There was no trace of his friend. They were nowhere to be found.
So the frog returned to their usual place and waited.

"I'll just wait for him to come back!", the frog thought "I'm sure my friend will come back for me!"
And so he waited, and waited.. and waited.
He kept waiting, even as the seasons changed and his body grew weak and old.
He kept waiting, even as the memories of his friend started to fade.
And even then, he waited some more, despite no longer knowing who he was even waiting for. Despite not knowing why he was waiting for them.
He just kept waiting, lonelier than he had thought possible.
And before he knew it, he started to resent the person who made him wait like this. Who made him feel so very lonely.
"A friend wouldn't make me feel like this!", the old frog thought. "And since they aren't my friend, I have no reason to wait any longer!"
Annoyed and frustrated, the frog hopped away, leaving everything behind. He left behind their forest. He left behind their favorite pond. He left behind everything he had ever known and set out to explore the world. To go on an adventure!
Now, what the old frog didn't know is that the blackish grey ground beyond the forest was a very dangerous place for animals. Though he never got to learn that lesson as a car drove over him.
And so, the ugly old frog met the same end as his friend did all that time ago.
The difference, however, is that the old frog died unhappy and alone, while his friend's last thoughts were happy ones, as he thought of his very first friend.
