"Hey, student over there! What are you doing, loitering in the hallway during lesson time?" A feminine voice called out to a boy with light brown hair.
The boy turned his head around to see a dignified-looking girl standing only a few meters away from him. "Oh, hey there." A small smile appeared on his face; finally, there was somebody who looked like they knew something. "Would you perhaps know --"
"Don't you 'hey' me!" The girl narrowed her eyes and shortened the distance between the boy and herself. "Aren't you... Nix?"
"Nix? Me?" The boy tilted his head to the side. What was going on? He supposed it was the name of the previous owner of this body. Then again, did that mean he replaced the original's soul? He scratched his right eyebrow.
"Oh, I see now. Playing dumb? Everyone knows you in the academy." A sarcastic smile replaced the girl's previous indignant expression. "Perhaps you are out of ideas to cause trouble, so now you are trying to be amnesic, huh?"
It was only a few moments ago that the boy who was formerly a girl, came into this world. He didn't have a clue to where he was. On top of that, although he tried to accept the fact that he awakened inside a male body and torn away from his home, his heart still thumped in anxiety against his chest.
Now, there was an annoying girl approaching him an unfriendly manner. "So, my name is Nix. Thank you for telling me that." The boy, who was now Nix, frowned a little before thanking the girl. Any piece of information was necessary to him.
"Are you retarded?" The girl scoffed. "I wouldn't want to waste my time trying to persuade someone like you to attend classes. Don't go around making noises and go play outside like the idiot you are." The girl turned her heels and left, leaving Nix alone in the hallway.
"What's her problem?" His little frown deepened before he took his exit from the building. From the girl's speech, he was not welcomed here.
Nix kept walking around the academy's ground before his feet unconsciously took him back to where he first woke up; the courtyard. The place where he slept at stood a tall tree which provided shade. Was this the favorite place of the previous owner? Not like it mattered much to him now.
He took a sit under the shade and leaned against the tree. He turned his eyes toward the vast blue sky. What was he going to do now? He hadn't manage to find any useful information except for his name and his apparently bad reputation in the academy. Even his family name was not known.
He exhaled a sigh before calming the erratic beating of his heart. It seemed like he could do whatever he wanted as long as he didn't interrupt the classes.
I'm practically cast aside and treated like I don't even exist, aren't I? In the first place, even if they told me to go and play, what is there to even have fun with?
"Ah, I wish to go back home and watch my anime. I never thought being suddenly transferred into another unknown world would be so cumbersome. Those protagonists from anime and novels have it easy, don't they?" He sighed once again.
That girl said I wasn't allowed in the building, but she didn't say I wasn't allowed to go out of the academy's premises.
Nix finished his train of thoughts and went searching for the a gate or an exit of some sorts. Soon enough, he found a large gate. He quickened his pace in order to get out of the academy as soon as possible, but he halted his steps when he saw two armed guards; standing at each side of the gate.

I probably should find another way out. Their armor is most likely as real as it looks.
After distancing himself far enough to not get noticed by the guards, he looked at the fence. "Hmm, the only way out is to climb the fence... But with a fence this tall, I doubt that's possible."
Ding! Dong! Dang!
Just when Nix steeled his heart to climb the fence, the ringing of a bell echoed throughout the entire academy. Following that, he soon saw teenagers wearing the same uniform as he did; a black waistcoat with a white buttoned shirt coupled with a black tie underneath it. The girls shared the same uniform but instead of a black tie and sleek pants for boys, they wore a matching color of black ribbon and skirt with high-knee socks.
"And... there goes my chance. Oh well." Nix shrugged before he casually blended with the surrounding students. He kept his head low; he didn't want the others to see him in the likelihood that they will avoid him. Although going against the crowd to go inside the building made him stand out a bit, since it was after lessons, it's not like anybody would actually pay much attention to such a thing.
Shortly after, Nix found himself inside another part of the academy building than earlier as he went in from a different entrance. He looked around stealthily; there were still quite a few students still loitering inside the building.
This academy should have a library. Finding it would take too much time in this huge academy building. Besides, this is not the only building around...
He certainly need to find some information. It was not like he woke up in a forest with some kind of cheat power; he's a student at the academy so he couldn't act with too much freedom. Sometimes, ignorance was a blessing, however that didn't apply with Nix's situation.
Not only did he need to know what kind of world he transferred into, he also needed to know his own background, the academy's rules and his relationships.
Should I take a risk?
He wanted to avoid interactions with others as much as possible but he wouldn't go anywhere with just his own wits. Scratching his eyebrow, he approached the nearest student.
"Excuse me, are you busy?" Nix stopped in front of a green-haired girl who was conversing with another student.
As expected of another world. They have different colored hair. That green hair seems authentic enough.
"Yes?" The girl stopped her conversation and tilted her head.
"Can you tell me where the library is?" Nix scratched his eyebrow.
"Eh? The library?" The girl tilted her head further. Even the female student next to her stared strangely at Nix.
That girl, if she tilted her neck a bit further, I wonder if it would be twisted and permanently stay that way?
While he was contemplating such useless things, the green-haired girl opened her mouth, "Um, why would you need to know where the library is?"
"Why? Uh, because I need to read books?"
"Of course she knows that! She is wondering why you are asking a question like that." The blonde female student next to the green-haired girl raised an eyebrow.
"Looking at your uniform, you are obviously a student here. Furthermore, you are definitely not new since it's almost in the middle of the year and admissions to the academy during this time of the year are not possible. So, why would you need to ask the location of the academy's library?" She narrowed her eyes.
Nix scratched his cheek, "Actually, I can't remember places very well. So, if you would be so kind to..."
"To guide you to the library?" The blonde girl stared at him suspiciously.
"Yeah, that would help me greatly." Nix nodded. Going to the library and getting a good grasp on the setting he's placed in was very important.
"And, how would I know if you're not doing this just to flirt with us? Many boys have done some similar tricks. If that's what you're aiming, you'd better forget about it." The blonde girl smirked as she pointed at the green-haired girl.
What is this girl saying?
"Why would I flirt with her? In the first place, I don't even know her." Nix tilted his head. This girl in front of him must be crazy. In the first place, he was a former girl just hours ago.
"Anna, stop it! It's embarrasing! I'm sure he means well and really doesn't know where the library is." The green-haired girl, Maria, blushed before tugging at the blonde girl's sleeves.
"Hmph, you're too kind for your own sake." Anna rolled her eyes. "Fine, we will guide you there." She took Maria's hands and walked in big strides.
Nix stood there, dumbfounded. He just wanted to know where the library was. How did it turn out so difficult?
What is wrong with her! She's too self-conscious even for a girl!
He gnashed his teeth, and in silence, he followed behind them closely.
