Chapter 3

BANG!

Gedaous slammed into Mihe's body with great force, almost knocking them onto the ground as he let go of them and turned around.

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS BISHOP?!" He yelled out.

Mihe pushed Gedaous off of them and backed up a bit from the guard to get a better image of what happened.

In the front of the church, next to the elephant priestess was a female bishop with long brown hair and a thin face, and just like Gedaous, her eyes were glowing a lime green with various arms spread around grabbing threads in the air. Next to her was the priestess who was similarly making her light blue eyes glow.

The other priests and priestesses were simply trying to determine what happened as they stood up to look at the situation they were ignoring.

The bishop at this point finally decides to address the other priests and priestesses.

"Dear brothers and sisters of our humble church, it appears an enemy of our church had stepped onto our grounds. Please move yourselves to safety and run away before you see two Lime-Green iris magic casters fight."

Although they didn't know why, they did comply, bolting past Mihe and Gedaous, jumping out of the windows, or even escaping through some previously unseen trapdoor.

The guard immediately yelled back at the Bishop "WHO IS THIS ENEMY OF THE CHURCH YOU SPEAK OF!?"

The bishop began to gather threads just like what the other priests or Gedaous had done before, in this process, she finally acknowledged the demands of the guard.

"That man who you defend right now is a long-time enemy of the Tebidnatic church. We had heard that they were to be executed and now they are here, alive, asking for our services! Is this an affront to our church!? Do the Imperial Families have no regard for our sovereignty!?"

Mihe wasn't actually surprised to hear the disdain that the priestess had for them. Somehow, deep down in their heart, they had known that this plan wouldn't work, although they didn't know why now they had some idea.

The bishop would finish gathering her threads, forming a spear of flames before flinging it towards the Imperial Guard, for some reason, despite having so much time to see the formation of the spear, Gedaous only began trying to dodge after the spear started to fly towards them.

The elephant priestess would follow suit shortly afterwards, feigning an attack on the guard they quickly slipped in a punch towards Mihe's stomach sending them flying towards a bookshelf.

Gedaous would finally begin using his own magical arms to gather threads for an attack. Although at this point, Mihe couldn't focus on that, their concern had more to do with the elephant priestess.

They pushed themselves away from the bookshelf only to see the priestess' knee flying towards their face, they quickly managed to dodge this strike and enter a fighting stance near the doorway.

At this point, they were considering just running away and letting Gedaous handle the situation by himself. However, while they might have given up on getting their memories back, they did not want to betray the respect Gedaous had for them; believing that running away would only cause this mutual respect to dissipate.

Thus, they fought, Mihe tried to charge towards the elephant priestess and throw a hook at her face, but she quickly ducked and tried to punch at their stomach.

However, before that punch landed, they instinctually raised their knee and successfully used it to land a strike on her chin, causing her to stagger backwards a bit.

Blood began to drip from the elephant priestess' mouth while she finally began gathering threads with her own magical hands, albeit at a much slower pace than Gedaous or the bishop.

They knew that they needed to stop her from finishing her gathering. While they weren't too familiar with the details on what the gathering of the threads means, they did know that when she finished gathering them, something would be flying towards them.

Thus, they charged, but in the middle of their charge a massive ball of flames was flung at Mihe causing some of their body to experience heavy burns and the priestess to also have some mild burns.

The priestess turned to look at who cast the spell only to see the bishop who was standing upright and Gedaous, knocked to the ground, trying to get up again.

"Madam bishop! Do not cast fire spe-"

Before she could finish, Mihe rushed into her and punched her in her stomach causing her to double over, they would kick her while she was doubled over properly knocking her on the ground.

They turned to look at Gedaous only to see a shard of ice flying towards them from the Bishop, while they tried to dodge the ice did manage to pierce their shoulder.

"SIR MIHE! STAND STILL I WILL HE-"

Before Gedaous could finish, the elephant priestess that Mihe had seemingly forgotten about had finished gathering her threads creating a giant ball of metal that was flung at Mihe with great speed, lifting them across the room eventually landing on a table near Gedaous with a broken rib as the ball rested on their chest.

They tried to get the ball off them but the bishop had already begun casting a spell on top of them with great speed before a spear of earth had formed and penetrated their leg.

The elephant priestess picked up said spear and tried to plunge it towards their throat, however, before they could finish, Gedaous had grabbed the priestess' arm and flung her with great violence towards the Bishop who was trying to conduct another thread gathering, interrupting said process.

He would rapidly gather threads near the multitude of wounds that Mihe had, each thread would sink into their body healing some injury while keeping watch over the bishop and priestess.

Before Gedaous could finish the process the elephant priestess had already recovered and bolted towards him. He would proceed to use the butt of his halberd to strike the priestess downwards causing her to land face first and slide across the ground.

Mihe would finally remove the ball crushing them and stand up, while not all of their injuries were recovered, it definitely felt as if they weren't going to be crippled if they left now.

"SIR MIHE, COVER MY BACK FROM THE ELEPHANT PRIESTESS, I CAN'T HANDLE A MAGICAL AND PHYSICAL BATTLE AT THE SAME TIME."

Mihe nodded as they would turn to look at the elephant priestess who had began to recover, her face was heavily maimed from the severe trauma it experienced, but the glowing hands would begin gathering threads and push them into her face, causing her wounds to contort and heal just like what happened to them.

This couldn't happen, they dashed towards her to punch again, yet just as before, she managed to dodge downwards and Mihe attempted to knee her in this position of vulnerability.

She predicted this and had caught the knee with her hand and would push them back while they were on one foot, knocking Mihe on the ground.

She would proceed to try to kick Mihe but they would roll out of the way and spring upwards, finding themself nearly cornered with little room to dodge anymore.

The priestess would begin gathering threads once again to form something in the air. Mihe reacted by dashing towards one of the tables from earlier and grabbing one of their chairs before throwing them at the priestess and running fast behind it, hoping the priestess would try to deflect it.

It was their lucky moment though, she did deflect the seat but had left herself overexposed to Mihe.

They would land a punch against her face, although this was mostly to stun her for a bit before they kicked her in the shin which would knock her unbalanced. Immediately afterwards they tackled the priestess and ram her against the other side of the room with great speed, resulting in one of her ribs finally breaking and the glowing arms letting go of the threads healing her facial wounds.

She coughed up some blood while Mihe was trying to pin her against the wall. However, before they could finish apprehending her, she would punch them in their face. As they began to stagger she would rush in to elbow them in their face, fully knocking them to the ground.

Mihe at this point was exhausted too heavily to have any proper reaction and simply let the priestess continuously kick them in their ribs and stomach with great strength. At least one of their ribs should be broken by now to be frank.

She would then attempt to pick Mihe up to do something, but by this point Gedaous—who had casted a variety of spells and was exhausted himself—noticed that Mihe was not making any noise.

The bishop, who was firing a multitude of wind-bullets at the guard, immediately noticed the guard’s focus on her broke and seized the opportunity to redirect said bullets towards Mihe.

The bullets would spray all over Mihe, each bullet that penetrated them brought great agony as it felt like they were about to die. At the very least however, the elephant priestess would also sustain massive injuries too as she got caught in the crossfire.

During this moment of pause, Gedaous would seize the moment to sprint towards Mihe while throwing their Halberd towards the bishop with the hope that it'd buy them enough time to heal their wounds.

The priestess had in fact not noticed the halberd flying towards her as she was too focused on killing Mihe and got the halberd stuck in her abdomen. She wobbled back as her spell ended and began trying to pull it out.

Just like that, everyone was in some form of downtime with the priestess gathering threads to repair her bullet wounds, the bishop trying to pull out Gedaous' halberd, and Gedaous himself planting threads into Mihe's wounds.

Before Gedaous could fully heal Mihe, the bishop had managed to pull out the halberd from her abdomen, yet instead of healing the gaping hole in her body she instead fired off another spell towards him.

He was sent flying and Mihe still had some minor internal bleeding in their body but it wasn't anything they couldn't recover from. At least it wasn't until the priestess had finished recovering from the bullet wounds herself and would begin dragging them across the floor before throwing them out of the window.

The priestess would take some time to breathe before stepping out of the window. Gedaous wanted to follow suit but some of the threads the priestess gathered had formed a ball which opened up to cast a bright beam of light onto him. This beam was extraordinarily hot which when combined with the color and high thermal conductivity of Gedaous' armor turned it into a human shaped furnace as they experienced major burns.

While Mihe was on the ground they managed to catch a reflection of their right eye in one of the shards of glass. Just like before, the "COURSE OF THE INEVITABLE" window had appeared. Instinctually, they thought about the box called "MAGIC" and just like that, a glowing blue sphere appeared behind them with an engraving.

What the hell is that!?

A line pointed towards the engraving with a box on the end of the line. The top of the box was "THE HUNGER FOR MORE"

Underneath it were 2 lists, "Predefined Spells" which was empty. Under that list was the "Predefined Objects" list which had one thing under it: 'LITTLE MURPHEY'.

Mentally thinking about Little Murphey prompted a new box to overlay the box titled "THE HUNGER FOR MORE" with a description of Little Murphey:

The smallest of the 'Big Three', he has a fast time to deploy at significant costs to bite area and bite strength.

With that final piece of info Mihe instinctually placed their left palm towards their face and brought out Little Murphey.

His description was correct, he was a small little thing in the palm of Mihe, it took the form as what was effectively a floating, fluid-like, simplified jaw with sharp canines lining it. Further, it appeared to be made out of some black... Ichor? They weren't certain why but they were confident it was made out of something called Ichor.

While Mihe was examining Little Murphey, the priestess noticed that they were distracted and appeared to be lost in thought. She did not waste this opportunity and began to gather threads near her feet before leaping at great speeds towards Mihe.

They didn't even think. They simply stretched their left hand towards the priestess, and... She was gone. The priestess along with half of the church disappeared after Little Murphey lunged out of Mihe's hand, mouth agape, growing to monstrous proportions, the priestess tried to dodge but only found herself bumping into the inner cheek of the monster as it chomped down on her.

Mihe immediately froze before shakily turning their left hand towards them, once again seeing Little Murphey who simply burped.

Gedaous had the bishop in a hold, pinning her against the wall with the shaft of his halberd. However, as soon as they heard the loud chomp of 'Little Murphey' eating half of the church he snapped around and examined the situation before noticing the shocked face of Mihe and the lack of the elephant priestess, he had a vague idea that they had done something they shouldn't have.

The Imperial Guard began to prepare the glowing arms near their feat as they grabbed his halberd that the bishop tossed aside and yelled out to Mihe.

"SIR MIHE! YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR SUSPICION OF KILLING A PRIESTESS OF THE TEBIDNATIC CHURCH! DO NOT RESIST ARREST!"

Mihe, terrified of what might happen if they were arrested, immediately sprinted toward the downtown of the city; it was the only place they knew so it was all they could go to.

They turned around just before seeing the guard almost complete their spell, it seemed like it was going to be another leap like the priestess did and another spell to enhance the size of the halberd.

Just as the arms were about to complete gathering the threads, Mihe predicted the trajectory the guard was going to leap towards and dodged. Gedaous, not knowing they could predict such a thing, missed them by a wide margin, landing into a small building with great impact accidentally breaking its walls to the great alarm of the business owner inside who cowered in fear.

By the time the guard finished recovering, Mihe had disappeared into the main street.
