*This story is set in the world of Objemon, a fantasy land where cursed objects called Objemon have been given life by an evil wizard. These objects can be very dangerous, and they have a habit of forcing nearby humans to fall under their influence. A good wizard has given nesting dolls capable of capturing these Objemon to three young adventurers; Max Lightwing, Faye Rose, and Emi Zakura. The wizard casted a spell of protection on these three which prevents them from being corrupted by Objemon and sent them on a quest to find and capture the rogue Objemon that have been let loose in the world. Currently the party is on their way to Pine Lake village to investigate an Objemon sighting.*
“Oh no, it’s happening again,” thought Max as Faye stood at the crossroads staring back at him and Emi.
“Well? What’s it going to be? Left or right?” asked Faye with her hands on her hips. Max knew this wasn’t going to go well but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try to defuse it anyway.
“I don’t know, Faye. Which way do you think we should-”
“If I was trying to make the decision myself I wouldn’t have asked for your opinions, idiot!” Faye interrupted.
“Alright… well I guess the path looks a little nicer to the right-” he should have known better than to try answering again.
“Typically uninspired rationale, Max! Why did I even ask you, anyway?!?” shouted Faye before she moved her crosshairs over to Emi. “How about you, mousy? Any thoughts on this problem we’re facing?”
Emi fidgeted with her hands and looked to Max for help.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
“Stop torturing us and just tell us what you want to do, Faye. We all know how this is going to end,” said Max.
“Mind your own business, idiot! Let the mouse talk for herself. I value her opinion, afterall.”
Emi looked to the ground for comfort before she let her gentle voice out.
“I don’t know. I’m not really good at this sort of thing.”
An annoyed Faye stepped forward and butted up against Emi.
“What’s the matter with you?!? Why can’t you ever use that energy you have in battle during the rest of the day? I swear, it’s like you’re an object without a soul unless you’ve got out that one-note Objemon of yours.”
“His name is Thrasher,” whispered Emi.
“What was that?”
“Nothing.”
Faye threw her head back, exhausted by her teammates’ inability to keep up with her in a simple, polite conversation.
“Fine, be that way,” sighed Faye as she turned back towards the crossroads. She reached into her pocket and retrieved a nesting doll.
“Magni, let’s go!” she yelled as she threw the nesting doll forward. It opened up and released something in a flash of light; an Objemon. It was a magnifying glass with a cute pair of eyes attached to the top of its lens.
“Let’s show them how it’s done, Magni! Use ‘All Seeing Eye’”
Magni seemed pleased to be given a chance to show off his abilities and jumped excitedly in the air. A beam of light sprang from his lens and scanned the crossroads, then Magni chirped out some information.
“Left it is, then,” said Faye as Magni returned to his nesting doll and she started walking down the left side path.
“Wait, why left? What did he see?” asked Max, slightly confused.
“All you NEED to know is that Magni said so. But if it’ll stop you from whining, I’ll explain,” said Faye as she turned to face Max and took a deep breath, amazed that she needed to justify herself.
“Magni scanned the entrances to both paths thoroughly. He noticed footprints on both sides which, judging by their depth and clarity, were left behind over the last month. The left side of the path has 67 distinct tracks left behind, many of which were fresh. However the right side only has 13 tracks left behind and none from within the last week. Therefore-”
“Oh, so more people have been walking on the right side. That must be the way to the village,” interrupted Max as he and Emi started walking down the path.
“... of course you would dumb it down like that. AND DON’T INTERRUPT ME!” yelled Faye as she threw a small fit while trying to catch up with the group.
