Hi all! Thanks for your patience with Obi-Mon. I've been working on this story for a year or so, but had to pause shortly after starting to finally write it. My goal was to do the Write-a-thon in 2023; I got a couple thousand words in... and my wife was diagnosed with a pretty gnarly disease in the first week or two of November.

This is such a common plea for pity as to be cliche, I know, but that's not what I'm looking for; my wife is getting good medical care, and appears to be recovering. (No cards or comments, please). It does however mean that I'm watching our children much more frequently than normal, and my already-very-limited writing time has dropped to zero these past few months.

So: what's going to happen with Obi-Mon? Well, I'm still working on the story. I want to get some more of the foundational world building and creatures designed before I take another stab at it. I'm an architect-style writer, so I outline a LOT before I write, usually; Obimon was an attempt at just freewriting. (What was posted was un-edited, so thank you for your patience with that as well). The goal was just to get something out there, which happened, and I was amazed at those of you who liked and followed the story. Thank you!

The plan moving forward is to finish the world building, get the first 100 obi-mon defined, and then work through the outlines again. That will take a while - if you'd like to join me in the meantime, I've setup a Discord server where we can talk about the worldbuilding, actual Japanese history, and work out some story ideas. (Ostensibly, someday, these will be Patreon rewards, but I'm not there yet).

When I get through a better outline for the first couple of story arcs, I'll come back, repost an edited version of these first few chapters, and do a formal release as per normal RoyalRoad stuff - write a bunch of chapters, release them once a day for a while, and then slow down to 2-3x per week (probably).
