Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Quiet chatter broke out once again in the cabin with only a few hours until they arrived at the destination. Sheerya took to opportunity to go over the plan oncemore with Michael just to make sure both were properly prepared. Sheerya had been disguised on several occasions, and knew the prison would be no big deal, but still wanted to assure Michael all would be well as breaking into a prison may be intimidating for any beginner. The materials were gathered, including the spacesuits, rocket shoes, thermite, the bomb, and earpieces to communicate with. Sheerya and Ellop started putting on their spacesuits and rocket shoes. “Here, I’ll help you out,” offered Sheerya as Michael struggled to put his spacesuit on. The three put on their earpieces and put on their shoes before walking to the exit of Azav’s ship. In the hallway for the exit Ellop closed down another door as to separate the inside cabin from space when the door were to be opened. “Attention all, the plan is going to initiation on my cue,” said Azav through the earpiece. The door opened and Ellop took the lead out towards the floating prison with Sheerya right behind. Michael tried using his rocket shows, but they turned out to be harder to use than he anticipated. “Michael, it’s easy, just tilt your head straight so it’s vertical, like if you were looking straight up at the sky, then move your body so your head is facing where you want to go,” said Sheerya.

Michael listened to her advice and used his rocket shoes to keep up with Ellop and Sheerya. They approached the vent and Ellop lit the thermite on the grates in order to create a hole large enough for the three to sneak through. “Should be big enough huh?” asked Ellop pointing to the hold he created in the grate. “Looks like it, now let’s go quick before someone sees us,” said Sheerya. “Is everyone inside?” asked Azav.

“Yes, we’re all here,” said Sheerya.

“Excellent, Tiki will now disable the security cameras for a moment so you guys can sneak up to the laundry room. Find whatever clothes fit the best, and don’t worry about the spacesuits. The pay for the mission will offset the cost. However, Sheerya, if you have a moment there is an incinerator across the hallway from the laundry room you can throw the spacesuits in just so the guards can’t piece together who helped the target escape,” said Azav.

“Gotcha, across from the laundry room. I will burn the evidence don’t worry,” said Sheerya.

Through the winding maze of vents the crew felt claustrophobic, but Sheerya lead the way as she had memorized the network and knew the maze of tunnels like the back of her hand. “Here we are, through this vent,” said Sheerya. Ellop used a screwdriver to unscrew the grate and the three hopped out into a large container of dirty clothing all looking for sizes that matched theirs. Sheerya found clothes almost instantly and changed into them while Ellop and Michael kept searching. “Pick up the pace guys, it doesn’t have to be the most beautiful uniform ever, just has to be enough to fool security while we’re here,” she said.

Sheerya pulled out a uniform. “This looks about your size Ellop,” said Sheerya.

“Are you kidding me? That’s a lady uniform, I can’t wear that!” said Ellop.

Sheerya rolled her eyes. “Nobody cares, it’s just for a moment while we’re here,” said Sheerya.

“Ellop, don’t let your pride put the mission at risk. Put on those clothes now and get going,” ordered Azav.

“Fine,” said Ellop.

“Everyone, remember your directions. I will have to cut communications after this message as to not jeapordize the mission. Just one person tapping the line could put us all at risk. Does anyone have any questions before I go?” asked Azav.

Sheerya, Ellop and Michael all answered “no,” to Azav’s question.

“Best of luck to you all, we will make contact in about one intergalactic hour, at that point all of you should be ready at the exit,” said Azav before the sound of his mic cut.

Michael found some clothes that fit his size in the pile and was getting ready to undress and put them on when the bantering of guards down the hallway made him freeze. “Guys hide,” whispered Sheerya.

Michael and Ellop dove behind a tub of clothing and hid as two guards entered the room.

“So where you watching the Galactobowl last night?” asked one guard to the other.

“Yeah, how do you think the Ikti performed?” said the second guard.

“So disappointing, they really went downhill after that trade of… what’s his name,” said the first guard.

They walked into the room and noticed Sheerya standing there. “Hey what are you doing here?” asked one of the guards.

“Well, they sent me up here because apparently one of the machines needed maintenance. Also because some people can’t act like adults and forget to empty their pockets before washing, it’s gotten so bad I found a gun still in it’s holster in the machine,” said Sheerya.

“Oh, gee, that may have been me. Sorry,” said the other guard.

“Well, they said we were here for washing machine maintenance,” said the other guard.

“No, don’t worry about it. I’ve got it from here, you guys go relax, and yeah the Ikti really have went down hill in the Galactobowl haven’t they?” said Sheerya.

“Yep, you know it. Thank you,” said a guard.

The two guards turned the other direction and continued their conversation about the Galactobowl as Ellop and Michael stayed frozen behind the tub.

“You guys can come out now,” said Sheerya.

Ellop peaked his head out nervously half dressed in the female guard uniform. Michael and Ellop quickly finished dressing up and got out from the cover. “Okay, Ellop, go and place the ‘package’ over in you know where, and Michael you come with me,” said Sheerya.

Ellop started walking off. “And remember, exit 13,” reminded Sheerya. Ellop turned to nod before continuing walking off to the other side of the facility. “Okay Michael, let’s go find out guy,” said Sheerya.

Michael and Sheerya walked through the facility over to the messhall with several hundred inmates. “So our guy should be here,” said Sheerya.

“Um, I hate to admit it, but I don’t remember what he looks like,” said Michael nervously.

“He has grey skin, and he has tusks on either side of his mouth,” said Sheerya.

“Okay, if I find him what should I do? Should I just tell you?” asked Michael.

“That’s fine, if you find him let me know and I’ll do all the talking,” said Sheerya.

Michael made a lap of the messhall observing all the prisoners to see if any matched the description given by Sheerya. At first it seemed as if nobody matched the description, but as he continued looking more and more seemed to look just as Sheerya described. Michael nervously returned to Sheerya. “I don’t know which one is him,” Michael said nervously pointing at a group of prisoners.

“None of them. I already found him he’s over there in line to get a meal,” said Sheerya.

“What would we do without you?” Michael asked.

Sheerya smiled and went up to approach Inor. “Inor, this is very important. We need you to come with us,” said Sheerya.

Inor was a large muscular man with scars covering his body, but the simple request from Sheerya quickly broke his tough façade as he broke down in tears and began weeping. “Please, I’ve been on best behavior,” said Inor.

“Well apparently not good enough, you’re coming with us. I’ll explain in a moment,” said Sheerya.

“No, I refuse to come with,” said Inor before he bolted off.

Michael and Sheerya chased after Inor as he ran down a corridor with cells on either side. “Maybe I should’ve worded it better,” said Sheerya.

The pursued Inor until he reached a dead end. “No, I’m not coming with. I will fight if I have to,” said Inor.

“Wait, calm down. I only said that to not break cover. We’re here to help you escape,” said Sheerya.

Inor calmed down. “By the way, that back there was just acting. I knew who you guys were,” said Inor through sniffles not fooling anyone.

Sheerya, Michael and Inor made their way over to exit 13 where Ellop was waiting impatiently. “Where were you guys? We only have like two minutes until the package… opens. Then our cover would’ve been blown,” said Ellop.

“There were some unforeseen circumstances,” said Sheerya about to crack up.

“Aaaaand… any moment now,” said Ellop.

An explosion could be heard on the other side of the prison sending the facility into chaos. “Attention, an explosion has been reported on the south central deck. This is a lockdown. All available personal please assist in the lockdown while we are investigating,” said a robot voice over the loudspeaker. The door for exit 13 opened and Michael, Ellop, Sheerya, and Inor boarded Azav’s ship. Azav boosted the ship away from the prison as fast as was possible. “Mission success!” said Tiki enthusiastically. Azav’s ship would meet another ship in a desolate part of the galaxy where Inor would be transferred in exchange for the team’s reward of credits. Michael checked his Galactoband and smiled as the credits went from 0 to 225,000 credits. He was unaware how far the credits would go in terms of purchasing power, but assumed it was high given the risk of the mission. Sheerya decided to share the story of what had happened inside and the crew all laughed except for Azav who was silent. To celebrate victory Ellop made another one of his drinks he coined ‘The Victory Drink’ for a job well done and a mission successful.
