Nova Force Chapter Three

But as we were heading back, we heard a loud scream towards the monster, now dubbed the "spiked dog." We looked and saw one of the other teams of people being surrounded by not just one, but three of the creatures.

"Oh shit," John exclaimed. Despite our earlier decision to leave, we knew we had to help them. With five of us, we charged towards the spiked dogs, instinctively making noise to signal our presence. But as we reached them, our plan backfired as we found ourselves surrounded the three creatures.

"Oh shit, now look what we got ourselves into." Exclaimed Sarah.

"Yea, some smart plan, Rome." Said Kero.

"You all followed me anyways. Plus, I had to think fast, and it was the quickest thing to do." I replied.

"And dumbest thing to do as well." Said Sarah.

"Now what do we do??" Asked one of the members of the other group.

There were now 11 of us and three of those monsters. We had our weapons pointed at them, ready to defend ourselves.

As they circled us, I started to tell everyone we were no longer merely humans, something was different and this is the time to make that difference work for us.

"I don't think it's time for a motivational speech" said Kero.

"No, listen to him. He's right, I felt it too." Replied another member of the group.

" I just want to get out of here. Why did I even volunteer for this shit?" said one of the females in the other group.

The monsters roared furiously at us as they circled around.

"Don't take your eyes off them." I whispered.

"Oh, I'm way ahead of you on that". Whispered John in reply.

"The tree we were hiding behind before if we could reach the top or even that high branch we could be safe for a moment." whispered Celestia.

"But how are we going to get there without 4 or 5 of us dying instantly.

I felt everything around me as I focused. The air, sound, energy in the air, I could see the muscles tightening up in the creatures.

"Listen up guys, the big one will attack first, just trust me on this" I said to everyone. The dog lept towards us, but we were all frozen with intense fear. Was this the end? All that speech for this, surviving that world changing disaster to be puppy chow.

I closed my eyes tightly, embracing the inevitable, however to my surprise I was still alive.

I could still hear the squeals from John and Sarah and some others but none of us were hurt.

All I could remember was a bright flash of light and we were on top of the tree.

"Wait, what the hell just happened. How did we get here?" everyone started asking, looking around confused. I looked around and 10 of us were here on top of the tree, alive and safe. There was a slight thud, Celestia fell with blood running out of her nose.

There was a deafening scream as we looked at where we were before. A guy, I didn't even know his name. He was being mutilated by two of the monsters. They tore his limbs like it was paper.

The ladies in our group screamed as they watched the gruesome display. John and Kero quickly covered the females' mouths so not to give away our position.

It was the first time I've ever seen someone being killed, but I couldn't really focus on that. I was still wondering how we got up here.

The only conclusion in my mind is Celestia used teleportation magic on us. But how did she do it? Maybe that's her power," I thought to myself. Everyone was still panicking, among the others were Robert, Landa, Terrick, Josh and Ariel. Josh was the one in charge of the other group. "We need to come up with a plan," said Josh. He was right, but how are we going to get down there and how are we going to fight those stuff off.

As we panicked and tried to come up with a solution on top of the tree, our cries echoed through the forest, alerting the monsters nearby. Soon enough, we heard footsteps pounding on the ground below as they rushed to our aid. "What a perfect day," I muttered, my tone dripping with sarcasm as we watched them attempt to climb up the tree. As the chaos ensued, things only seemed to grow more bizarre.

John spoke up, recognizing the differences between us and surmising that our predicament was the work of Celestia. "What do you mean?" Josh inquired, prompting us to recount everything that just happened, and the only one who is passed out cold with blood oozing out her nose is Celestia.

"He's right. It's the only logical explanation." I said.

"Logic! That went through the door a long time ago. What the hell are those stuff!? And what are we going to do!?" Shouted Robert.

"Hey, you need to calm down, dude." Said Kero

"Don't you dare tell me to calm down!" Barked Robert as he punched the tree, leaving a scorch mark. He displayed some flame abilities. Seeing that, he immediately calmed down.

'Wow, remarkable. Did I just do that?" he asked himself.

"Yes indeed, now shut up so we can come up with a plan." said John sternly.

"Okay everyone, so I possessed great strength, Celestia could teleport, and that guy had some flame abilities, but what else could we do?"

I said.

They all looked at me, totally clueless.

My thoughts drifted back to the wall incident with my mom. Without thinking, I had lifted the heavy object with ease, fueled by a surge of adrenaline as I desperately tried to help her. Perhaps this was another extraordinary thing we could do.

As I explained my theory to the others, they all nodded in agreement. We realized that when we were surrounded just now and when Robert was angry just now, a rush of adrenaline had triggered our powers.

"That makes sense. I felt an incredible surge of energy when those guys cornered us. It's like I could do anything." Said Landa

"I can vouch for that. My strength seemed to double, and I could move faster than I ever thought possible. So, if adrenaline is the key, what are our powers exactly?" asked Josh.

"You said you could move, but all I saw was a little baby curled up about to die." said Kero. This made Landa and Ariel chuckle a bit. Josh was now slightly embarrassed.

"I don't know about the rest of you, but I could practically control fire when I got angry back there. It's like I was a human torch. But I have no idea how to control it." Said Robert, still a bit frustrated.

"Well, we've got a start here. Adrenaline triggers our abilities. Now we need to figure out what everyone else's powers are and how to harness them." I said.
