c.10 -The Mystery of the Portal-

President Robert Smith landed on the territory of his own country after a long journey, feeling internally exhausted but resolute. He didn't rest; he didn't waste time. He immediately headed in his convoy towards one of the most mysterious places in the country, the restricted zone.

His loyal secretary, holding the phone to his ear and engaged in a hurried conversation, was continuously preparing all the necessary conditions for the president's arrival. Soon, they reached a military facility, nestled in the endless desert, and after security procedures, they entered inside.

In an elevator that resembled more of a spacecraft capsule, the president and his secretary made their way to the classified -12B floor. Even here, on the security level, safety was paramount, and fingerprints and retina scans were required for further access.

On the seemingly ordinary floor, the president immediately moved towards the meeting place with Anthony. Scientists and lab technicians, hidden behind monitors and screens, anxiously watched his arrival, knowing that something crucial was about to begin.

But as he approached the next closed doors, the president noticed something astonishing. The entire security system had been activated once again - fingerprint recognition and retina scanning.

The doors opened instantly.

"Mr. President, you know that you're not supposed to enter here without specialized attire," Anthony rushed to speak as he caught up with his superior, who had already gone inside.

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!" the president yelled, his anger reverberating in every word.

"Why is someone, some outsider, telling us such nonsense? What does he know that we don't? Why we, especially you, couldn't decipher this mystery for 20 years?" The president pointed a finger behind Anthony.

Inside the enormous room, bathed in mysterious light, stood the portal, emanating an aura of infinity and enigma. The portal took the form of a monolithic arch, composed of smooth, gleaming black and yellow panels. The colors of black and yellow flowed seamlessly into each other, creating an illusion of continuity and boundlessness.

On the rear side of the portal, complex integrated panels and wires extended from its central point. With every surge of energy emanating from the portal, these wires pulsed, creating the impression that the portal was breathing, like a living organism.

Next to the portal were specialized terminals and control panels that monitored its functions. These devices pulsed in unison with the portal, forming a unified energy system.

"How many billions have we spent? How many lives have we lost? How long will this continue?" President Smith continued.

Anthony, driven by his own conviction, attempted to explain the situation. "Mr. President, sir, I can explain everything..."

"Well, try try it!" Expressing his dissatisfaction, Smith settled into Anthony's chair.

The president, listening attentively, finally heard the words he had been waiting for years, "We are on the right path. After Edward's return, the resonance of the gates began to change."

"What do you mean?" The president asked eagerly, anticipating an explanation.

"Sir, in our research, we have discovered that after Edward's arrival, the resonance of the gates started shifting. This might be related to the fact that he came from a world where magic exists, while in our world, it doesn't. This could indeed play a key role."

He glanced at the portal and continued, "We've learned that crossing the threshold of the gates requires a form of energy, possibly connected to magical aspects. Edward might have brought this energy with him, without even realizing it. And this could be influencing the resonance of the gates and their operation."

The president pondered, slowly approaching the portal. "We need to delve deeper into research and find out how his presence affects our gates and what opportunities it opens up. The solution is getting closer, Anthony, and we must find it."

"And faster than anyone else."
