Chapter 11: Suspicious

Chapter 11: Suspicious

"Can I see your parents room?"

Eshaal hesitated for a bit at his sudden request before saying yes.

Everything in the room was same as two years ago. Even things that were damaged by that powerful ritual were still kept in their places. Except the floor. It was already cleaned by the time she woke up.

Ash was standing in the room probably thinking where should he start. "Who cleaned the crime scene?" Ash asked.

"I was unconscious so I don't know. When I woke up the floor was already cleaned but Uncle John told me they collected all evidences."

" Did you find anything unusual when you first saw the crime scene?"

Eshaal looked at Ash. "My parent's bodies were laying right before my eyes. Do you think there would be anything more unsual than this for me?"

"Sorry" Ash immediately regretted asking this question.

"What exactly are you looking for?" Eshaal asked.

"I want to see if there are any books from which your parents learned about this ritual."

They search the whole room but could not find any strange books. They even searched Mr Marvin's study but there was nothing related to this type of rituals.

Eshaal made two cups of coffee. She handed one cup to Ash and sat on the other side of sofa.

"Is this your first time solving a murder case?" Eshaal initiated the conversation.

"Not exactly. I have helped my Dad before but I mostly helped with my fists so you can say this is my first time actually solving a case on my own."

"It shows." Eshaal murmured.

"What did you say? "

"Why do you have two Spiritual Devices?" Eshaal held back her smile and changed the subject.

"I originally only got Fire but it was my brother who gave me Ice." Ash said.

"Fire and Ice? " Eshaal was confused.

"My two daggers." Ash showed his two daggers proudly.

"Oh. Good choice of names." Eshaal smiled. It was obvious that she was mocking him.

"Thank you. I think your Device is pretty cool too. What's its name? " Ash completely ignored her mocking tune.

"Minni." Eshaal said.

"Minni? It sounds weird. What does it even mean?"

"It means memory."

"Oh." Ash who was ready to mock her back swallowed his words.

After a moment of silence Ash said. "I think I should meet with him."

"With who?"

"John. And his family too."

"Why?" Eshaal was confused.

"He looks suspicious." Ash said.

"He was my father's friend and he and and his family helped me so much. I don't think he can do anything to hurt my parents."

"I know but he still looks suspicious to me. Besides there is nothing wrong with meeting them for once."

"Ok. How will you meet him?" Eshaal asked.

"How about you invite them for dinner?" Ash looked at Eshaal.

"At my house?"

"Anywhere would be fine."

"Ok."

"Why did they changed their house?" Ash placed the empty cup on table and asked.

"They said this house was too small for them so they bought a bigger house one year ago. "

"You know what? You should not invite them for dinner in your home. And if you do, don't cook at home."

"Why?"

"Your coffee tastes so bad I can't imagine how bad your cooking will be." Ash smirked looking at Eshaal.

"And here I was thinking how can you talk normally for so long." Eshaal sighed.
