( Sorry to all my readers it is taking awhile to write I am busy with life but good news is I have a good portion of story line ready so hopefully it won't take as long to write. Not much action but don't worry it will come and we are coming close to the end of season 1 of RWBY well in comparison to when the story is taking place. Anyhow enjoy the chapter and as always like and review)
Noir had been at beacon for almost a month and this was the first time he had been summoned to the headmaster’s office. Noir paced in the elevator as it went up the tall tower. It didn’t take long for him to hear a ding and the elevator door opened. The room it opened to was large and open. The floor was clear glass where Noir could see the gears of the massive clock that was outside. Right across from him was a large window with a desk in front of it. At the desk sat the silver haired headmaster drinking his coffee and reading something on what looked like a larger version of a scroll. Noir stepped out of the elevator and coughed to get the headmaster’s attention. Ozpin looked up and as soon as he saw noir turned off his device and stood up.
“Good afternoon Mr. Pendragon, would you please come have a seat” Ozpin said as he gestured towards a seat in front of the desk.
“Yes professor,” Noir responded respectively. Noir walked quickly across the glass floor and sat down in the seat in front of the desk. As soon as he did Ozpin also sat down in his chair behind the desk and stared at Noir with a slightly intimidating stare.
“Do you know why you are here today, Mr. Pendragon?” Ozpin asked breaking the awkward silence between the two.
“Honestly sir, I have no idea really,” Noir started to say. “I mean I haven’t broken any rules and I have also kept my grades up. So I do have to ask why am I here?” Ozpin chuckled at Noir’s response to his question.
“Noir, I haven’t summoned you here because you did something wrong specifically,” Ozpin responded sipping his coffee. “I called you in here because I have some concerns with your team.”
“My… team?” Noir asked, confused by Ozpin’s statement.
“Yes,” Ozpin started to explain “well I guess you can say it’s more about two members of your team: Ivan Canis and Sebastian Mortick.”
“What about them?”
“It has been brought to my attention that Mr. Canis excels in almost all of his classes except combat class,” Ozpin started to say. “In fact most of the time he lets his opponent beat up on him without really fighting back. Cases in point; Cardin Winchester, Nora Valkyrie, Blake Belladona, Yang Xiao Long, and even yourself once. I know he is a more than capable fighter, both from his performance in the Emerald Forest and praise from his sponsor. Can you tell me why he refuses to fight?”
Noir scratched the back of his head ruffling his black hair even more than it already was. He had felt bad about beating on Ivan the week before when they were sparring, but he did expect Ivan to fight back eventually. Even though Ivan told him Noir still barely understood himself why Ivan refused to fight.
“All he has told us is that he believes he should only fight when it is necessary and fighting other people just to hurt them isn’t what he calls necessary. That’s the best answer I can give you in that regards sir,” Noir said trying his best to explain Ivan’s motives. Ozpin looked concerned by Noir’s response but ten continued the discussion.
“Let’s come back to that,” he said to shift topics “In Mr. Mortick’s case it seems we have a little too much violence going on. It seems he is irritable during classes causing him to get detentions more often and during combat class he seems to go a bit overboard not knowing when he should be holding back.”
“I noticed that too sir,” Noir said sadly. “In addition to that sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night he isn’t in the room but later in the morning I find him sleeping in his bed like he had been there for hours. That may explain a little bit of what has been going on, I think.” Ozpin still looking concerned nodded at the young man’s response. “If I may ask sir, why are you telling me this, why not talk to the two of them about it?”
“These kinds of situations aren’t yet real problems for me to deal with however they are issues that do need to be addressed. As a leader it is your job to make sure your team is in the best shape both on and off the battlefield,” Ozpin explained. “In Ivan’s case try to convince him to at least try during combat. With Sebastian, I think you should try figuring out what he does at night that makes him so irritable.”
“Sir, with all due respect is that really necessary?” Noir asked. Ozpin smiled warmly as he took another sip from his coffee mug.
“Indeed, if you can’t keep your team straight when things are peaceful, explain how you can keep them in line during Combat when you start having disagreements?” Ozpin responded still smiling. Noir pondered a little of what his headmaster was trying to tell him.
“Alright, I will talk to my team,” Noir said finally.
“Very good, you are dismissed,” Ozpin said. Noir got up and hastily walked to the elevator as he pushed the button to summon it he heard Ozpin say “Oh Noir,” Noir turned his head to look at the headmaster who was still sipping from his coffee “I recommend returning Ms. Rose’s cookie jar, she seems to miss it a lot.” Noir blushed a little, he wondered how the professor could possibly have known about that. He nodded in reply and as soon as the elevator opened rushed into it almost bumping into a slightly taller blonde boy in armor on his way in.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Oh sorry about that,” the blonde boy said.
“It’s alright it was my fault anyway,” Noir responded. He then quickly closed the elevator door and started going back down to the main level again.
(Team NOIS’s room)
“You cheated!” Bastian yelled loudly. He and Ivan were playing a first person shooter game Bastian had brought from home. Ivan had mentioned that since his village didn’t have much technology around that he had never played the game before. So Bastian introduced him to the game and for the past hour was getting his butt handed to him by the wolf faunus.
“How could I have possibly have cheated,” the wolf faunus said as his ears twitched in his silver hair.
“I don’t know how you did it but you definitely cheated,” Bastian responded as he towered over the faunus angrily. “How else could you have possibly beaten me when you just learned how to play not even an hour ago?” Ivan shrugged his shoulders.
“Bastian,” Onyx said from his bed across the room “quit being a sore loser.” Onyx was reading one of the textbooks quietly on his bed, and he was having issues studying while the giant.
“Noir’s back,” Ivan said pointing to the door. Bastian and Onyx looked up to see the knob turn and their dark haired captain walk in looking almost completely lost in his train of thought.
“So what did Ozpin want to talk to you about?’ Bastian asked his captain. At first Noir made no reply to his curious teammate he just walked over to his bed and opened the corgi shaped cookie jar. He grabbed the last cookie and sat on his bed and faced his team mates.
“Ozpin had some concerns that he wanted to go over with me,” Noir finally said taking a bite from his cookie. He wasn’t comfortable with getting into his teammates personal business but he didn’t feel like he had much of a choice.
“What would he want to go over with you?” Bastian asked. “I mean between you and Onyx I don’t think there are anyone else who has kept all their grades high.”
“It actually wasn’t about me though,” Noir said finally. “Ozpin actually pulled me into his office because he was actually more concerned about you two,” he continued pointing at Bastian and Ivan.
“Us?” the two boys asked in unison. It confused them both that Noir went to the headmaster’s office because of the two of them and not something he did.
“Why would Ozpin ask you about us?” Bastian asked.
“Apparently, it is concerning him that Ivan is blatantly refusing to fight,” Noir said pointing his cookie filled hand at the faunus. Ivan sheepishly looked at the ground. Noir then pointed to Bastian “and having you being too violent.”
“I am not being too violent,” Bastian said indignantly.
“Let’s see where should I start,” Noir started up saying taking one final chomp on his cookie. “In the past week you have put two members of team CRDL in the hospital and nearly broke the leader of team JNPR’s arm. Besides you seem to be sneaking off at night, where do you go?” Bastian looked angry but finally sat down before he exploded.
“I don’t think it is any of your business to butt into my personal life,” Bastian said angrily almost growling at Noir for the confrontation.
“I thought so too, but it may have an impact on your performance and as the team leader it’s my responsibility to make sure our team does the best it can,” Noir responded “And you being irritable is something that could affect your performance.” Before Noir could continue Bastian stood up and headed for the door.
“I don’t want to discuss this anymore, I’ll be back later,” the massive boy said as he walked out of the room. Noir sighed at not being able to get through to him. He then turned his attention.
“And about your lack of conviction to fight,” Noir had started to say.
“About that, It’s not a lack of conviction it’s more of a lack of not wanting to hurt people,” Ivan responded flatly. “Faunus are either treated badly because people think we are inferior to humans or that we are part of the White Fang who are known to hurt people. I don’t like the White Fang because they aren’t helping the faunus cause so instead I would rather be known as a protector not a harmer.”
“I understand that but sparring isn’t a reason to hurt people for no reason, it is to improve your skill so at least try during combat class, alright?” Noir asked his faunus teammate.
“Well now that issue is settled,” Onyx started to say. He had been quiet the entire time that Noir had been talking finally broke his near silence streak. “what are you going to do about our giant?”
“Honestly I don’t know Onyx,” Noir said “But let’s start by finding out where he went.” Noir then said as he headed for the door. Onyx and Ivan jumped up behind him. As soon as the rest of the team was outside their room Noir addressed his team mates. “Okay Onyx, you check the training grounds, Ivan you check near the library, I’ll head to the main entrance, If any one of us spots him that person send the rest of us a message, got it?”
“Got it,” the other two said. The team then split off in different directions to look for Bastian.
