*Ring*

A loud sound interrupts my deep sleep..

I extend my left hand out from the comfort of the warm covers, and into the cold, morning air. I was trying to grab my [MCD], or [Mana Communication Device] that was ringing at the highest volume. It seemed that someone was trying to call me..

Since I don't remember setting the alarm function on it last night, that must be it..

I grasp at nothing but empty air many times before I finally touch the soft, metallic sensation of my [MCD]. I pick it up, since it was so light, you wouldn't believe it was made of metal at first. It was about as heavy as a pillow..

I don't open my eyes and check the screen, to see who was calling me since I was still groggy and wanted to sleep in a bit more. But I just pressed the [Answer] button since I knew where it was beforehand. I then put it near my ear and said..

"*Yawn* H-hello..."

"Hey..."

I recognized this voice. It was one of my classmates from school. A girl my age that I had been friends with since the start of middle school.

"Oh, it's just you Airi, good morning..*Yawn*"

"Good morning....not! Why are you still sleeping at this time of day, Yuu!"

Ah, my ears hurt..

"What, it's still early right, is there a problem?"

"*Sigh* Did you open your eyes?"

"No, why, am I supposed to?"

I lazily open my eyes, and direct my attention over to the top part of the screen..

"9 AM, right Mr. Know It All?"

Oh no, this. This is bad..

"Gotta go, I'm late for class!"

"Honestly, this is the fourth time this month, you know that? For one I-"

I hang up since I didn't have the time for her sermons..

"Alright, let's do this quick. I don't want to be scolded by Ms. Yoshizawa anymore. I swear, it's like she lives just to make me suffer..

I get a shiver just thinking about what punishment she has in store for me today..

So, I rush out of bed, not minding the mess I made, and went to the bathroom. I washed my face, brushed my teeth, fixed my appearance, and changed into my high school uniform. It was made of special material, colored dark, and was durable to the point that it deflected minor injuries from elementary level spells..

Yes, I went to a school that had [Magic] as its main curriculum. I was one of the few who were given the chance to practice magic. Sadly, I was one of the bottom-rankers, or "Slackers" was what they called people like me. They say it was because I never took studying seriously. But what most people don't know is that I am studying like mad every single day..

I made simple breakfast, grilled-toast sandwiches made of ham, cheese, and lettuce. I had no time to sit down and eat, so I decided to eat them while moving towards the school. So, I closed the door, and locked it from the outside..

Fortunately, my house wasn't that far from campus. It was normally a 10-15 minute walk, but since I was running late, I had to move faster. I started sprinting with my bag slung on my shoulder, and took out my breakfast. I took bigger bites than normal from the slightly burnt bread, and chewed while running towards the direction of the school..

All the while, panicking about the consequences that I was about to face when I do arrive..

Where am I?

I was currently moving slowly inside a space I could call, abstract. Since I couldn't see any land, water, sky, nor sense anything nearby..

I could not move my other body parts, only my sight, which was useless since the space seems to just extend endlessly. But when I did, I couldn't even see neither my arms, my legs, or any of my body as a matter of fact..

I was slightly perturbed by this strange turn of events, but it would be unbecoming of one such as I, to panic in any situation. So for now, what was the last thing that I can recall..

Yes, I was currently purging some fools who dared go against my clan. While I was teaching them a lesson, I suddenly fell forward, like my whole body was heavy. Finally, I felt a slight stinging sensation at my backside. Then, intense pain, and darkness followed..

Judging by the turn of events, I might have gotten attacked by surprise since I let my guard down, thinking every one of them was lower than insects. I have a habit of doing that to those who cross me and my clan. But, I have to say, it was brilliantly done, even to the extent of not letting me know who killed me, one of the immortal..

As I was contemplating on the surprising turn of events, a bright light that came out of nowhere suddenly enveloped me, and sucked me into a dimensional space..

I wonder how this will turn out. Let's just go with the flow, just this once..

I think to myself as I let my spirit get sucked into the endless void..
