Chapter-0 Rough Seas Ahead

December 13, 1774.

Vissera, Victor Ashton Territory, Steiner's Palace.

it has been months since Louise, now Steiner, arrived in Haven, the planet he was transported on, out of the 213 nations on this planet he just had to be transported into one of the worst ones, one afternoon he woke up as usual, taking a bath and cleaning himself of dirt, once finished, maids immediately prepared him with clothes, looking at the mirror before him he saw his reflection.

a young man with brown skin, white hair and white eyes.

his age was about 20 years old, and his height was about 6 feet and 3 inches, though he was a bit tall for his age his reputation was next to none, only the fact that he was a duke, but a nobody, not of noble blood.

a maid entered his chambers with a letter, bowing down before speaking.

Maid: my lord, the emperor has sent you a letter.

Steiner looked at the maid, confused as to why the emperor had sent him a letter at a time like this, but nonetheless he sighed and nodded, telling the maid to read the letter with a nearly deep and heartless voice.

Duke Steiner: (shit, what is it this time?) read it, I'd like to hear what the emperor has to say.

the maid took another bow before reading the letter.

Maid: Duke Steiner, I, Emperor Vesire have orders for you, I know that you have contributed to the empire through your fantastic work in organizing our workforce, and dealing with the financial crisis... I have given you a hefty sum of funds and a battleship for your needs, as well as a fighter craft for aerial combat.

the maid paused for a moment before continuing.

Maid: I am ashamed as emperor to ask you of this but war has deemed it necessary for all lord of the empire to participate in this conflict, you are to depart immediately for Fort Victor, your father's fort and repel the incoming enemy ship, known as the Imperius, I have provided all I can, now heed my call, and repel their assault.

the Maid stopped at the end as Steiner sweat dripped down from his forehead, although he had played multiple games so far which had far more gory scenes he wasn't prepared for a real battle.

he looked towards the maid and spoke in a serious voice.

Duke Steiner: how many days till the Imperious reaches the mainland?

Maid: they're only 3 days away my lord.

Steiner looked towards the window in his room before looking at the maid.

Duke Steiner: get me a ride to Fort Victor, NOW!

the maid bowed before quickly leaving, the rest of the maids that were now finished prepared Steiner quickly left, leaving only Steiner himself in his room, he gritted his teeth in anger and looked at the window once more.

Duke Steiner: (this has got to be the worst day of my life... why did it had to be a war?)

he thought to himself for a while, until a maid took him by surprise, surprising him a bit as he turned.

Maid: my lord, your ride is waiting.

Duke Steiner: (well shit, might as well go with it.) *sigh* I'll be going.

Steiner walked out of his room and out of his palace, entering the old-fashioned car as the driver soon drove to their destination, looking out the car window he could see many planes flying passed above, and with the seas just a few dozen feet away he could see the many fleets of ships departing, ranging from cruisers, frigates, to battleships.

he smiled as he looked at himself on the car's mirror, he found a young man staring back, in grey uniform, one that officers used to wear back in WW2, but his was less decorated, with only 4 medals on his left chest and a holster on his right hip.

despite him not being a military officer or not having any military experiences at all, perhaps he could use his gaming skills, and put them to the test, perhaps it will serve him well in this Second World War.
