Chapter 17 – "Unveiling New Powers."
Moments later, Valeria walked back to the school with a face full of anger and deep coldness. Lindy watched her, sighing softly. While she was worried about Eira, she also had enough common sense to hope that this event wouldn’t escalate. She knew from records that, despite the imperial family not being descendants of the primordial spirits, they had been tasked with maintaining the capital for ages. Their power grew as they recruited talented individuals who surpassed those from the thirteen families of the primordial spirits.
This was why the thirteen families respected the imperial family's ancestral decree, maintaining a fragile peace until now.
“Sigh, I also need to contact Madam Seraphina,” Lindy said, deciding to prepare for potential trouble in advance.
Meanwhile, in the tower's waiting area, Mira and Eira could be seen sitting on old, dusty stone chairs, talking to each other while gazing at the unique features of the room. Eira suddenly noticed a ranking list of previous participants, which shocked her greatly.
“This, this is a ranking like what I’ve seen in the games from my previous life—like a global ranking,” Eira said to herself, her eyes wide with excitement.
Mira noticed her gaze and smiled. “Hehe, are you interested in those rankings?” she asked, wanting to entertain Eira and waiting for her answer.
“Hm, yes! I can see a familiar family, including mine,” Eira replied, staring intently at the list. Mira's excitement grew as she saw Eira’s curiosity.
“Hmmm, I heard that the previous families on the ranking also participated when they were young, as a trial for the next head of their respective families. That includes your mother; you can check the current generation ranking!” Mira explained eagerly, wanting to impress Eira with her knowledge. She added that each generation had the best talents of the age, and the tower's rankings recorded the most gifted individuals born in that era to represent them to future generations.
Eira observed the ranking, feeling stunned. +-------------------------------------------------------+

“I—I can’t believe all of them are the current peerless talents in this generation!” Eira exclaimed, eyes widening as she finally spotted her mother’s ranking. “Ehh, Mom! Her ranking is 3! That’s impressive!” Eira said proudly, unable to contain her joy. Who wouldn’t be proud when their own mother made it into the ranking?
“Hm,” Mira observed Eira’s bright expression and felt her obsession with the child deepen. “Um, Eira, if you want, do you want to become top-ranked with me?” she asked, extending her hand to Eira.
“No, I—I don’t think we can do that,” Eira replied hesitantly, feeling a pang of doubt. Seeing that the previous peerless geniuses couldn’t even clear the thirteenth floor made her afraid of the trials ahead.
“Hahaha! Don’t worry, Eira! Although many geniuses want to surpass the thirteen families but didn’t succeed, with me accompanying you, we will be in the rankings!” Mira said confidently. Eira was left speechless, knowing deep down that both of them would likely fail. Just then, participants began gathering at an alarming rate, causing the tower jewels to react slightly.
“Let’s go, Eira. Let’s distance ourselves from those people,” Mira suggested, feeling the curious gazes of the other participants on Eira, which made her protective instincts flare.
While they walked, Eira thought about how to approach the situation. Instead of relying on Mira, she decided to call upon her system, trying to avoid alarming her companion.
“System,” she thought.
[DING!]
[THE SYSTEM IS WAITING FOR YOUR REQUEST.]
“System, can you open my next reward?” Eira asked eagerly, knowing that even though it hadn’t been a week, the rewards had been generous.
[IT'S ONLY BEEN 26 HOURS. HOST, DO YOU WANT TO CLAIM YOUR REWARD NOW?]
Eira stared at it for a moment, then smirked. “Of course! I need something that can help me in this unknown situation, so yes, please claim my reward.”
[DING! YOU HAVE GAINED A REWARD: FROST CONTROL ALLOWS THE USER TO CONJURE ICE FROM THIN AIR, FREEZING ANYTHING IN THEIR PATH. THIS POWER DRAWS FROM THE SYSTEM'S AUTHORITY, REQUIRING NO MANA. WHEN IN A CHILL ENVIRONMENT, THE USER CAN CHANNEL THE SURROUNDING COLD TO INTENSIFY ITS FROSTY EFFECTS.]
Eira was shocked by her newly acquired, overpowered ability. With a subtle smile, she glanced over at Mira, who was still watching her intently. “Alright, Big Sister Mira. I think I’m ready now.”
