The Beginning

I find my self floating in a very strange place right now, as I look around there are no buildings, people, or sounds just nothing, everything in the world is tinted in black on the left and white on the right that splits evenly down the middle and seems to go on forever, a cough catches my attention from behind me.

As I turn around I see a person dressed in a monochrome colored robe that covers the entire body concealing everything, the right is white and the left is black giving the opposite appearance as the world I'm in, his right hand is holding a staff that is also split in black and white. Really now whats up with this color coordination?

" Well now, that was an interesting way for a human to die." Amusement and sarcasm can be heard from the person that is standing in front of me.

" Eh I died?"

" Yes you did, don't you remember?"

I closed my eyes and tried to remember what had happened, I woke up this morning had breakfast, went to school talked to some friends, then went drag racing with a couple of other people that I knew.

......

" Ah, you mean that right?"

" Yep, you humans come up with the strangest and most violent ways to die, it's quite funny really."

" Ok, you and I both know that was totally not my fault."

" You were going over 100 miles per hour"

" The cat came out of nowhere"

" You didn't have to swerve"

" I like cats"

" You ran into an empty gas station"

" I never liked that one, why did they have to build it there?"

" Then your car exploded"

" I always wanted to go out with a bang"

" Along with the gas station"

" Did the cat survive?"

" Funny enough yes"

" *sigh* That's a relief"

" You were on the evening news"

" Nobody watches it anymore, it's full of stupid and non interesting stuff happening in a place far far away"

" .... You really don't care do you?"

" Only if its about the cat"

" Why the cat?"

" Cats are cute and fluffy, cute and fluffy is justice!"

" ..... I have nothing to say about that"

" yep" I said and nod my head. Come to think of it I should be feeling very depressed right now but I'm not.

" You know your the first one who hasn't broken down crying or denied everything I have said just now."

" I just had this feeling that I was going to die sooner or later and already decided to accept what ever may happen or appear" I said while shrugging.

The person just stares at me from under his hood then gives a small laugh.

" Ha .... Well now since I find you amusing what would you like to happen"

I tilt my head and think for a bit.

" I have always wondered what reincarnation would be like, after reading about it both in a story format and from a religious angle it seems interesting."

He nods his head in acceptance then said " I see, then just to let you know since this is the path you decided, you will not be reincarnated back to your previous world, due to an over abundance of new souls being created any that die go somewhere else, that's just how everything works out, normally I would just choose a world and send you there without any memories and as a random creature, but like I said I find you amusing so what do you want?"

I was shocked, really I can choose my own world to be born into, unlike most who are randomly picked up by a passing god/goddess and become their chosen hero or creature, or those reborn without any memories and just keep their old personalities, which I guess isn't all that bad, but because of that they end up in weird situations. I lower my head and think about this for a time before answering.

" A world of magic and swords with a lot of different species of creatures living in it would be good enough for me, and not as a human, goblin, other gender, or dungeon .... to many stories about those types of things and I find it a little overbearing."

" Oh and what would you like to be reborn as?"

" A cat" I said immediately.

" .... Really?"

" Yep"

" No like really?"

" Yep, I would like to be a cat"

" Why?"

" Like I said before cats are cute and fluffy, cute and fluffy is justice!"

He just stares at me in surprise, then he just starts to laugh.

" pft ahahaha you want to be reborn as a cat ... hahaha ... because they are cute and fluffy?"

I frown at this, what is wrong with that reason?

He continues laughing for a while then finally calms down.

" Ah, it was the right choice to pick you up that's for certain, and luckily for you I have the perfect world that fits what you asked for, it's called Crindaus, I wont tell you everything, you should just go and see for yourself! Ah before you go a little gift."

As he said this his hand lifts and points at my forehead, then a black and white light shoots out and hits dead center. As it enters I can feel it spread thought my entire body before settling down.

" What was that?"

" In the world your going to they call it mana, not everyone has the ability to use it but those who do are very powerful and can do things that defy most common sense, it has been studied very extensively and those who use it are quite interesting."

" So a cat with a magic affinity huh, is that common?"

" Yes, but not many have the types that I gave to you."

" And what type of affinity is yours?"

" Darkness and one other"

" WHAT?" I did not see that one coming.

" Bye Bye now have fun with your new life" As he said this he waved his hand, I feel a slight pulling then I'm whisked away into a never ending darkness.
