Nights In Evernight
Night Eye Association (3)

Night Eye Association (3)

12 BURLY LANE

alas, the day had finally come for him to meet the Association himself.

Though what seemed strange to him was the overcrowded streets. He thought that a secret meeting place would be more "secretive", but then again, it is clever of them to set a the date In a crowded area, the least place people would expect a secret organization would be.

Looking at the address from the letter, William arrived at the destined location for the meeting of the Association.

Following the letter's direction towards the expected "meeting place", he eventually arrived at a store. The place had a large sign at the very front, just above of the entrance door "Muffin man" was what was written.

"From the nursery rhymes?" He wondered, remembering the familiarity from the world he used to be in. Or in other words, his original world

Before entering, he took out his pocket watch from his right pocket.

11.57

"Right on time"

He then entered the what looked Like to be a bakery.

Ding! Ding!

The bell that was placed above the door rang as he opened the door.

"Here's your cake sir"

Upon entering, the first thing he sees is a man with an elegant twisted mustache wearing a hat. He wore white shirt and black pants and a brown apron. His build was slim but tall, unlike William which Made him a bit jealous because of his height. Nonetheless, he looked Like a soft hearted, working man.

The man was handing out cakes from the counter to what looked Like to be a Noble man judging from the elegant suit Made from fine fabric.

Ofcourse, William thought so as well.

He then walked up to the mustache man after the last line of people had gone elsewhere.

"How can i help you mis- oh..." As the man was greeting him, he stopped his greeting and rephrased.

"My apologies madam, i had thought you were a man from you're clothes"

William stood in an unsurprised manner and expression as he expected this outcome. Because of his slim and short build combined with his looks, it wasn't strange for people to think he was the opposite gender.

"I'm a male" William spoke.

The man, who originaly thought William was a woman, bowed his head in apology while saying:

Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings.

"M-my apologies sir!"

"No, no, i'm used to it"

The man grabbed his handkerchief and uses it to wipe his sweat from what seemed to be the nervousness he got from the thoughts of his customer.

'makes sense, i'm his customer after all...'

"N- now then, how may i help you today?" he asks as he clasps his hands.

He leaned towards the man and whispered:

"Eyes are no watch but observed, fangs in bodies of Ghouls"

The man's eyes widen as he Heard those familiar words.

In the letter, it was instructed to say the words needed to the bakery man in order to enter.

"May i see the letter and the ring?"

'is he refering to the one from the letter?'

William handed out the letter and ring he received and placed it on the wooden counter.

He then took out his monocle from his right pocket and observed the letter and ring with close detail.

After the observation, the man returned the letter and ring to William.

Then suddenly, with a calm and yet heavy voice, the man spoke:

"Wear the ring" he said after in a different manner. The old man who had looked like a frail happy old man, which expression turned in to a more serious expression. Even his eyes now immited a piercing gaze towards William.

The mustached man led William to the back of the store. A normal—no, a dirty alleyway full of trash and stay cats. It was so dirty that the air itself seemed unbreathable.

The man eventually stopped infront of the next buildings house. The man held out his hand, touching the wooden door.

Suddenly, a circular pattern that glew a golden color appeared.

'a magic circle?' he guessed. Though what Made him doubt himself was that the now persumed "magic circle", unlike other showa or manhwa he had read before, had a more simple complexity.

Ofcourse, this is another world so he could not object the differencece in visusals. But he was still curious.

As the door opened itself, airs of steam leaked from the room within the door as if trying to desperately escape, revealing a small space covered with metalic bars on the only open way appeared.

Then, the bars that were covering the small space, filled itself to the right.

It was at that time that William figured out that it was an elevator.

The man turned to face William and suddenly spoke:

"Once you arrive at the main hall, go to the nearest receptionist and ask Ms. Marry Young for the location of you're meeting's location" he told William. He stood for a couple of seconds before modding his head.

William entered the elevator.

He was doubtfull and anxious at the same time. He felt a slight goosebumps before the metalic bars closed itself.

Though even if he was always anxious ever since arriving in Evernight, but this was different.

Was it because of the piercing gaze from the mustached man? Or was it because of the chilling and clausterphobic space he was in? Eitherway, he could only ignore these feelings.

Hiss! Hiss!

The elevator began to move lower and lower to the ground. Little by little, his eyes that were looking at the mustached man could no longer see him.

Going down, lines of light would often appear and disappear, moving upwards as the elevator went lower and lower.

Due to the nervousness he felt in the beginning, only now that he realised the elevator, unlike other elevator, only had four button and neither of these four buttons had a specific button for a certain floor. There were only a button used to go up, down, to hold it open, and to close.

Ding!

A sound appeared within the elevator as it stopped going lower.

Seconds later, the metalic bars began to fold according to it's shape and sawyed itself towards teh right side, revealing what looked Like to be an enormous white house like structure.

The a shining white stone pillars, smooth stoke floors and many big pathways filled with people that streched so far that even William could not see the end.

William, being the first time coming here, recalled his conversation with the mustached man:

«Once you arrive at the main hall, go to the nearest receptionist and ask Ms. Marry... »

"Right! Ms. Marry"

Taking his first step, he suddenly paused. A moment later, a thought came to mind:

'...where am i supossed to go again?'
