CHAPTER 334
"Charlotte, you're finally awake!" Jeffrey held Charlotte's hand and looked at her with affection before saying, "I've already suggested a divorce to Angie. We can remarry when I get my divorce certificate!"
"Remarry?" Charlotte smirked weakly. "Why should I remarry you?"
Before the accident, she hadn't wanted to divorce when Jeffrey suggested the idea. Thus, he pushed her down the stairs and made her fall into a coma.
When she finally woke up from it, she learned from her son that Jeffrey had obtained the divorce certificate under his manipulation and married Angie while she was unconscious. With that, she became his ex-wife.
She hated them and even wanted to kill that adulterous couple!
Back then, she didn't want to divorce Jeffrey so that the mistress could enter the family and become an obstacle for her children.
But now that he was going to jail soon and her son would be the patriarch of the Miller Family, there was no way that she would let the mistress take anything from the Miller Family. Why would she want to remarry Jeffrey?
She was not a recycling station that would collect any kind of garbage!
"Charlotte, I know that it was wrong of me, and I've certainly let you down. I'm sorry…" Jeffrey held her hand tightly and looked at her eyes to repent. "I was seduced by Angie at that time; I was blinded and did the wrong thing. Please forgive me this once, Charlotte. We can live a happy life together in the
future!"
"Forgive you?" Charlotte laughed weakly. "You wanted to kill me by pushing me down the stairs so that I would give up my position to your mistress. You tried to kill your own wife! I'm just lucky enough to survive. Why would I be so stupid to shoot myself in the foot again?"
"I didn't push you down the stairs on purpose!" he explained anxiously. "It was an accident. I didn't mean to push you down the stairs! After all, we've been married for so many years. Although I was bewitched by Angie at that time and did the wrong thing, I still have feelings for you. How could I have the heart to kill you? I don't have the guts to do so either! Don't you think so?"
"Do you think I can believe what you say?" She looked at him cynically. "That was not what you told the police! You told them that I fell down by accident! You were the one who pushed me down the stairs, but you told them that I fell down myself! You didn't even blink when you lied. You're just a dishonest and irresponsible man. I'm just lucky enough to be able to divorce a man like you! Why should I marry you again?"
"I didn't say that to the police on purpose. There was just no other way for me!" he said anxiously. "I pushed you down by accident, but that nanny said that I pushed you down on purpose. You were seriously injured too. If the police believed what the nanny said, I would've definitely gone to jail. As such, there was no other way for me. I could only use money to save myself and let the nanny say that you fell down on your own. This way, the police wouldn't suspect me."
"It's true that you pushed me down the stairs on purpose!" Charlotte looked at him in disgust as she spoke. "You cheated on me with Angie and wanted to marry her, but I didn't want to divorce you. I was in your way, so you wanted to let me die and give my position to her!"
"No, that's not true!" Jeffrey raised his right arm anxiously. "Charlotte, I can swear to God if you don't believe me! We've been married for so many years, and we also have two children. I love you so much! Although I divorced you because Angie bewitched me, you will forever be the dearest person in my heart!"
He looked at Charlotte in her eyes and said with affection, "You must believe me. My feelings for you have never faded. Now that I know what kind of person Angie is, I will treat you even better than last time. You're the woman that I should cherish the most. Marrying you was the best thing I've done in my life! Charlotte, although we married young, we can be each other's life companions. We've been through so much together, and it's definitely a chance that God has given me now that you've woken up from your coma. We must grab this opportunity and remarry without wasting any time. Let's forget about everything in the past and start over again. What do you think, Charlotte?"
Jeffrey was handsome and charming. Although he was in his fifties, he looked at most forty since he took care of his appearance, still as suave and charming as ever.
When he looked so affectionately at a woman, she would fall for him as he made her heart flutter.
From the outside, he could be considered a charming, good man. Otherwise, the aloof Angie wouldn't have chosen him as well.
However, when Charlotte saw his affectionate look, she only felt nauseous. She wouldn't be deceived by this j*rk again!
They had been married for more than twenty years, but he was ruthless enough to push her down the stairs for a mistress that he had known for less than half a year. He didn't even feel guilty at all; he told
outsiders that she fell down the stairs herself and used the fastest speed to manipulate the divorce with her before marrying Angie.
This man was both heartless and ruthless. She had already been cheated on once, and there would never be a second time!
At this thought, Charlotte looked at Jeffrey ironically and said, "You guys can come in now."
Hearing that, Jeffrey was stunned. "What?"
After she said that, the door swung open, and a few police officers walked into the room with Billy behind them.
When Jeffrey saw them, he stood up sharply from the ground, his back drenched in cold sweat.
One of the police officers walked up to him and took out a pair of handcuffs. "Jeffrey Miller, you're under arrest for premeditated murder. Please follow us back to the station for further investigation." Content is property © .
As he widened his eyes, he looked at Charlotte before turning back to the police officers. Suddenly, he understood everything. "Y-You guys were listening!"
He didn't know that his conversation with Charlotte would be bugged by the police, so he had said everything that he shouldn't have.
Back at the police station, he kept denying that he had pushed her down, but he told her with his own words that he had done so by accident moments ago.
This was great, for the police managed to obtain solid proof at once. He didn't even get to go back home to manage his fortune and was put in handcuffs by the police.
With solid proof this time, even if he wasn't charged with premeditated murder, he would still be charged with attempted accidental murder. If he was put behind bars, a few years would pass before they released him. By then, he wouldn't be able to manage his fortune. If he waited for a few years until he was released, no one would know whether his fortune would still be there or not.
He was becoming more and more terrified as he thought about it. His face turned pale, and his eyes were darting around frantically until he landed his gaze on Billy's face. "You knew about this, right? You knew that the police bugged the ward and were waiting outside, right?"
With a nod, Billy replied, "Yes!"
"Why didn't you warn me about this?" He pushed the police away forcefully and ran into Billy. "You treacherous son! I'm your biological father! How can you frame me?!"
