Evolution, a desire humanity always obsessed over. Be it technologically, socially, or economically— any area improvement deemed fit, humans sought it. Conflicting beliefs of politics and religion while oftentimes dividing, the endgame always remained without change.
Every year was spent advancing society as we knew it, changing the way we interacted with the very world we inhabited. As time naturally progressed, it was inevitable we too would ascend alongside our creations. What was thought to be an outlier, turned out to be a blessing marking the era known as Generation Meta.
Generation Meta was what dawned the birth of Inheritants, a classification of humans gifted with the supernatural.
I, of course, was born in this generation. You may be wondering, who am I? Let me answer that for you.
Zen Reinhard, 17.
African American.
Luck Inheritance.
A tall yet careless boy, oftentimes given a hard time by the world due to his luck.
Unlike most of society, I've never particularly cared for evolution. Not that I disliked it or anything, I was more so… indifferent on the matter. Sure, evolution seemed important, but was all this technology all that necessary? Sometimes it felt as if these corporations and governments only thrived off evolution to undermine the inherent flaws of corruption and human error, as if to compensate.

Oh well, it wasn't like I had the power to change the world or anything. I was just a nobody teenager in the United States after all, what influence could I bring? I've only thought about doing better for myself, as myself, could that be evolution in it of itself?
Who knows, really.

August 20th, 30XX.
I casually stood with hands lazily planted in my pockets, what stood before me was a pigeon with uniquely gold eyes outside my balcony. Opening its mouth, an authoritative voice spoke aloud under a digitalized filter.
“We at Shine High are happy to announce you've successfully passed the entrance exam. We are grateful you are enrolling into our program and taking the opportunity to utilize your Luck Inheritance for even greater evolution amongst mankind… we dearly hope to see you enter, Zen Reinhard…”
“Hmm,” I lowly hummed to myself. “about time they got back to me…”
Shine High was the world's most prestigious high school housing the talented youth of today, it boasted incredible reputation around the globe even students outside America dreamed of attending. Now why was I, someone who evidently didn't care for evolution, decided to enroll? Truthfully even I didn't know, perhaps I signed up just because. My life underwent a predictable pattern thanks to my luck, a pattern of good and bad luck making said life incredibly boring. Nothing excited me anymore, I assumed I walked this path out of desperation, but…
There was no time for pondering, I should probably be getting ready for the new school I'm attending.
Then again, I had a week to prepare, what was the rush? It was nearing nighttime anyway, I'd best get some rest.
