Fire and Time

It's been hours since the group had left. His Trappers had reported that they had arrived on a wall. The techie was placing some kind of device on the ground before the swordsman cast a spell on the wall.

He was confused to that point. How was he able to cast a spell if he was a swordsman? I mean, with the exceptions of [Scrolls], they needed to be used by magic casters.

Whatever he did, they just went into it. From what the Trappers describe, it was almost like a {Gate} spell but it was unnecessarily big for just 3 people to go through. Enough for a giant to go through.

He ordered the Trappers to not follow them through the portal. He knows nothing about how the magic works here, and if he sends them to follow the trio, they would be noticed. Plus, it seemed like the swordsman deity just opened a portal.

'Maybe a... No, not possible.' He frowned. He is still lacking information on how this world works and the mythology legends of this world. Obviously it would be highly different from his time, but it's another world.

Nothing is the same from frame to frame, tip to tip.

Give him 2 or 3 days and once he is 'fully recovered', he'll scout out the place. Hell, he could even see something bigger than the normal buildings around, a frigging pyramid of all things! And its almost the size of one of those mega-cooperation buildings.

Almost.

Back to the hospital, the girl is still unconscious. Nothing has gotten through their perimeter over the day. Right now he is in the lab section of the building tweaking with the scraps he had scavenged back from the Outer Zones.

Crafting what would be considered as junk for almost all players of YGGDRASIL, he sees them as valuable in their own way.

Another man's trash is another man's treasure, as the saying goes.

True that he has other items that he could freely give to the group, but they are his and his only. He will NOT give any of them away! As those items can be acquired from YGGDRASIL, ONLY!

Anyways, he would be making items for the group without [Data Crystals]. So it would be Top Class or less, although the minimal possibility of being able to craft up to Relic Class Item without the use of [Data Crystals] would be tricky and time consuming. And putting in the additional need for a [Prismatic Hell Forge] on which there isn't available in this world.

The weapons he'll be making should be easy for the humans to use, with the exception of Lucy, she'll be getting an upgrade of her chains. Their arsenal is good against average Demans, but against Tri-horns? It would make him seem paranoid, but its better than having a tiny prick of a gun shooting against a gigantic being that can and will stomp you easily.

"Jim?" He didn't need to turn and look at the doctor to reply back.

"Good morning doc, slept well?"

"Yeah..." Jin slurred before going to the coffee machine and making some coffee. "Want some?"

"No need." Focusing on bending the metal into a shape he wanted it to be.

"Working on something?" He raised a brow as he slowly walked to his side. On the table are metal scraps and what he thinks is refined metal.

"I'm making weapons for you before I leave this place. The Trappers would protect you from Demans if they are to approach this place."

"Wait, what kind of weapons are you making? The weapons of Lexter's seems good enough for me." He draws out his pistol that is manufactured by Lexter.

He glanced at the pistol before scoffing. "Like it's enough to protect you from a Tri-Horn or upper. What you need is something much more stronger than that."

Jin chuckled nervously, but his words spoke truth and he was right.

"But what's the point in giving us weapons? I mean, I'm not much of a fighter-"

"But you would fight to protect your friends, would you?" That caused the masked man to pause his work and turned his head to the doctor. "Even if you know nothing about fighting, even if your combat skills are shit to none, would you simply give up and let your friends be taken?"

"..." The words are harsh, but they brought up truth. Though how he managed to say, it was too blunt. "Harsh."

"But I am not wrong am I?" He turned back on shaping the metal to his thinking.

"No, no your not."

"Then it's better to be safer once I finish these and give them to you."

"What about the insects?"

"They will also get the same, since I wouldn't want to be on bad terms with their Master."

"...Speaking of that, do you know who is their Master?"

Jim paused before shaking his head. "But he is powerful than me."

That caused Jin to spit take his coffee. "W-Wait, you serious?"

"Did I stutter, my good man?" He deadpanned look at him.

"O-Ok, ok!" He held his hands defensively. "No need to get so serious."

'Well, technically I'm him but also at the same time I am him... This is some big brain stuff.'

"But how did you get to know him? You met him before?"

'And this question, crap! I did not thought of this one!' He panicked before remembering something that he had said before back in

He simply just continued on crafting the metal, letting the silence wrap the room. Jin felt like he was intruding with such a question, that he was about to apologize before Jim was in time to reply.

"Only when I woke up, after that, I met him."

"Was he... the one who experimented on you?" He asked gravely.

He shook his head. "I was alone, no one there was with me when I woke up."

"Huh? Then how did you met him?" His tone was confused. How did he meet him if he wasn't there to wake him up? "Didn't he wake you up?"

"In my head." He said casually.

"What?"

"He waked me in my head."

"...What?" Comedic question marks appeared on his head. "So like.. Telepathy?"

"Something like that."

"So who could have done... whatever has done to you?"

"..." He simply looked at the man, who turned away with shame in his face.

"...Sorry for the question."

"It's fine, I just don't like to be reminded."

"Wait, so you remember?"

"No, I can just remember the pain. Phantom pain that spikes around my body. Only pain is what I remember."

"..."

"But something of the past, I wouldn't let that stop me. Why have myself loathed the past? It wouldn't do much help for us right now." He shrugged. "Don't think too much of it."

Jin nodded mutely.

"Here." He handed what would look like a long knife, looking like a simple kitchen knife. But what makes it different from the kitchen knife was the unique color design.

The hilt design was curvy and slim. The blade itself almost seems sharp, too sharp perhaps.

"A knife?" Jin questioned as he grabbed the knife and examined it closely.

"Not just any knife." He chuckled. "I placed magic in that thing. It can cut through anything like butter, it will also make you fast and able to dodge attacks from Demans."

"Whoa..." Jin wouldn't have believed him if it wasn't for the condition of his friend that he was able to save. Although hearing that these would allegedly help them fight against Demans, he wouldn't doubt it after he had seen what he had done recently.

Suddenly, he had an idea in his head.

"Can you teach me magic?"

Jim froze at the question, he accidentally dropped the metal he was shaping. This caused Jin to think that he may have asked it wrong.

'Teach magic!? I don't even know how to draw up something like this! It was like... I already knew how to draw up mana!' "...I'm afraid I cannot."

"Oh... It's alright-"

"No," He shook his head. "What I meant is that I cannot teach you because I don't know how to teach you magic. I was... awakened like this."

Then he goes on 'explaining' why he can't and Jin asking in questions but less frequently. As much he wants to chat more, he wouldn't want to have either of them doing nothing.

"Don't you have something to do, Doctor?"

Jin raised a brow, confused what he meant. "What do you mean?"

"Making a cure to the Deman transformation?"

"B-But, what about what happened back then!? You just saved my friend from becoming one of them!"

"And that took a toll on me, Doctor. A singular soul, it took a lot from me, to save one soul." He emphasized.

The doctor's face became frustrated, the thought of being able to cure and reverse Deman transformation would be seen as impossible, but considering what he had witnessed of this man reversing the transformation of the Vapour...

He concluded that it would be difficult to achieve, but not impossible.

"...Then I'll make it so." Jin with a face of determination, stood up from his chair and went to prepare the equipment around the lab to begin researching for a cure to reverse the transformation.

'...Though I doubt it's possible. But with Lucy as research material, the chance is there but it's only a little.' He lamented. He would have really reversed the transformations of the demans in this island, but the paranoia of getting the attention of a possibly powerful unknown being in this world.

With the exception of Lessa, he seems to not notice of his true presence since he still kept that ring that disguises him.

He was fortunate to listen to his former clan master's words on keeping up for one's safety. Even though he was annoying as hell.

'I wonder how the others are doing...'

. . .

Time Skip: 1 Day later

. . .

Later in the morning, he sought out the last location of where Lessa and the others had disappeared to.

Of course he managed to convince the others that he would be covering the other group's backs once he reached up to them, since they are safe enough with the Ant summons guarding the hospital.

Put that in addition to the weapons he had crafted for them. Junk for him in comparison, but it's powerful for them.

It took him a while to arrive at the last known position of Lessa and the others have disappeared through the portal. If he were a wraith, he would have phased through the wall and see where they are. Make things easy.

But it wouldn't have been fun would it?

Using {Scan} he managed to find another entrance going deeper into the Zone.

The Main Gate.

Same as the other Gate Zones, although this was crowded with Demans.

Compared to the Outer Gates that the Demans had captured, the Gate leading to Zone 2 is crowded.

With a change of his clothing and using [Cloak of Illusions], it didn't take much to enter through the Gate. He looked at his appearance and quite looked like an average Deman around. Going into the Gate like everybody does. Though there were some glances that were aimed at him, but no one stopped him.

He would have used his Jim Raynor persona, but the news and rumors of a certain "Bird Masked Man" being gossiped around the streets, he knew better.

The walk to the inner Zone was literally so long that he hitched on a Deman's vehicle on their way to Zone 2.

He would guess it about 30 minutes or so that they managed to reach Zone 2. And needless to say, it was more livelier than Zone 3.

It was quite an unusual sight. Demans minding their own business like nothing is going on, kinda like the towns and cities of YGGDRASIL. Except this is all Demans only. He had sensed a few humans around, but they were enslaved.

His sense of morals is screaming at him to save them, release from their horrid captors and cleanse the wicked Demans of this place. But logic sets in. The possibility of getting the attention of an unknown is always in his head, reminding him of such a chance.

The place was looking like a normal town from before the 21st Century that he had looked in the history pictures back on his dead Earth.

Remembering why he was here, he was about to cast {Scan} again if they were within his range, or that he'll have to increase its range with another spell, he smelt a good fragrance in the air.

He looked around and spotted the source of the smell.

A bar.

Looking around, it looks like he walked into a quiet part of town. There were almost no signs of Demans around in the streets, and there can only be sounds around several buildings. Ones he could think of are entertainment buildings. Probably because it was still morning.

Even though the sky itself is a fake. An illusion for Demans to think that they can walk outside in the sun. A false sun.

But what's the problem with that anyways? At least it would provide the accurate time scale from the outside of this island.

"...Eh, why the hell not. I wanna try out some drinks anyway." Despite them being assholes that denied their own humanity for their selfish gains, he would lie if they didn't act almost civilized.

Like the hypocritical Romans.

It didn't take him long enough to enter into the bar. Seeing the ones who went to it, it's obviously not your usual bar. The Demans went in in full formal attire, suit and everything, though he was thinking that maybe they were trying to revise their time back in the early 1900s?

No one stopped him from entering the bar, though he had to put his bag into his inventory to fit in. Would seem weird to bring a bag into a bar of entertainment.

'Gentleman's Pub' as the bar is named. No wonder they wear suits so that they'd look like a 'gentleman'.

"Hey!" He heard a voice that seemed to be directed at him. "You there!"

Turning around to the voice, the Deman seemed like the bouncer around here. Weird cause no one stopped the other Demans from coming in.

"You new here?" He asked.

'Oh, so they keep tabs on who is regular and who is not.' He mentally noted that before nodding his head. "Yes, I just came from the 4th Zone. Thought I'd wander around in the inner Zones for once."

"Oho, a country bumpkin then?" He grinned. "Welcome to the Gentleman's Pub! And you've worn the right attire for this scenario."

"I'm not stupid to go into a bar and look out of place." He pouted, making the bouncer laugh. "I just came here to look around some sights before going back hunting some pests."

The Deman smirked in reply. "Oh well. Anyways, you picked the right place if you want to see some show-"

"-AND NOW, THE CHALLENGE MATCH'S LONG AWAITED~~~~ SHOWTIME!" A voice from a very loud speaker boomed throughout the room, and he could see that the Demans looked excited for this show.

"Hah, just in time. Show's about to start."

Seeing that there's no harm in witnessing the show, he treated himself to ordering a light drink and seated on a chair nearby. And he just noticed there's a boxing ring in the middle of the room.

"TODAY~! WE HAVE A SPECIAL GUEST! THE GENTLEMAN'S PUB MANAGER, MISS BLAKE HONORS US WITH HER PRESENCE!"

He heard murmurs of the Demans around. It seems this "Miss Blake" doesn't occasionally go into this pub.

Then he saw a small girl in a suit walking up to the stage with a mic on her hand.

"Hello everybody! Are you having a good time?"

Their response was a loud affirmative from the audience.

"Well then, please try Mexican tequila to make your dinner more enjoyable."

'Wait, it wasn't morning? So it's night time now? Fuck, the stupid sky is making me disorient if its night or morning!' He grumbled irritatingly before shoving that manner aside.

"Oh! And also, you all know that we have some special challengers here today right~?" She said enthusiastically. "Remember that Miss Blake doesn't do boring stuff alright!"

"Wonder who are they..."

"Might be one of the Zone Lords."

"Ha! Yeah right, as if that would happen."

"Now! Everybody wants to see Blood and Sweat in the ring, so enjoy our hot stage as always~!"

""YEAH MISS BLAKE!""

Cheers and excited shouts and screams erupted from the audience. Excited for how the fight will be.

"NOW, LET ME INTRODUCE THE FIGHTERS!" The announcer boomed.

"THE WINNER OF LAST SEASON'S CHALLENGE MATCH JOSEPH STONER! THE IRON MASTER, IRON DAWSON. . ." The announcer continued on up until-

"AND LASTLY...!" The announcer paused, giving in all ears deep attention as everyone wondered who were the last ones coming out to the ring.

"THE HUMAN CHALLENGERS; MR. POGO and MR. MARCO!"

Luckily he didn't sip his drink because he just did a spittake what he just see in his very eyes.

'Raynold and Lessa!? What the hell are they doing!? Are they captured? No, doubt so. With their strength and power, no one in this room could even stop them. Although where is Lexter? Was he captured? They don't seem to look worried for their friend, maybe he's just watching the match?' He narrowed his eyes as the fighters stepped into the ring. Although the ring doesn't seem to be big enough for the seven of them, with one being a hulking Deman as well.

'What is your plan here...?' He hummed as the announcer began on explaining the rules.

"Now! I will explain the rules for those who are here for the first time! In this season we have 7 participants! The crowded ring will become more comfortable after a fierce battle!"

'So it's free for all...'

"Weapons are prohibited! This is hand-to-hand combat! If you fall out of the ring you are disqualified! Only one person can stay inside, exactly One Person will be allowed to continue in the main match!"

That statement widened his eyes. 'So that means it's either Lessa or Raynold...' He made a 'tsk' sound. 'Oh well, at least this isn't a death match scenario.'

"Hey," A Deman next to him hushed towards him. "Wanna bet who's gonna win the match?"

He stayed silent, thinking before replying: "A drink if either one of the humans win."

"Oh~?" The Deman's expression was of surprise. "You sure about that? They are weaklings!"

He chuckled. "We'll see about that." He smirked at his own confidence.

'Hopefully none of them will destroy the place. I hate grabbing attention.'

"AND NOW LET THE MATCH BEGIN!"

Almost the instant the announcer said that, the hulking Deman threw the first punch to the fighter beside him. While the other fighters brawled against one another, Lessa and Raynold seem to be on a standoff, arguing.

This was expected, none of them knew this would happen and he doesn't know if one of them will win if they either win the match.

Some reason Lessa gets mad at Raynold, probably because he was asking Lessa to get off the ring and lose.

As expected from a deity, pride gets in their way.

The red hair suddenly pushed Lessa few steps away, later gets bumped by the hulking Deman.

And then suddenly, he felt a wave of dark pressure crashing onto him before shortly disappearing. Lessa just grabbed the hulking Deman and smashed him down onto the ring's floor, knocking him unconscious.

'So that's when he would get mad.' He chuckled nervously as he started to look around. The Demans' expressions were surprise and shock in disbelief, not expecting strength and power from a 'mere human'.

"A-Ah! What happened!?" The announcer was the first one to break the intense silence of what the majority of them had just witnessed. "Yeaongchun Park! (The Hulking Deman) He was knocked down by the human contestant, Marco!?"

He then started the countdown while the fighters just stood in shocked silence as the audience. The speaker then announced the Hulking Deman was the first one to be out of the fight.

He could hear several grumbles of frustrations. No doubt some people around here had put their money on Yeaongchun.

"So... I think you need to give me a drink." He smirked at the Deman who he accepted the bet challenge, shook out from his shock.

"H-Hahaha, there's still other 6 fighters standing, and that other human is probably weak!"

He shrugged, not wanting to break this man's hope of winning the bet. He's not gonna lose much anyway, so why was he worried about losing the bet?

The Deman fighters somehow decided to temporarily team up for now, wanting to get rid of the two from the ring.

Though it won't be easy. As Raynold just threw a punch on one of the fighters who just went up behind him, knocking him out of the ring with a fire punch to the face.

Looks like they are showing their powers, no doubt this will grab attention to their enemies. And perhaps another third party hidden in the shadows of the dark.

"This is the Gentleman Pub folks! The challenge title match is getting underway! Although they entered as new human participants, they've easily been winning. The two humans are going to face off! Are they going to fight!?"

The cheers could only increase, although at some tables, he could see some fluster down in sorrow. Probably because they place their bets on the wrong guy.

'Speaking of tables, is that Lexter!?' He was... confused. What the hell is going on and what really happened when they went ahead?

"I'll be back for the drink later." He said to the Deman he bet with before walking up to the table where Lexter was sitting along with two other Demans.

"What. The. Hell. Are. You. Doing. Here?" He spoke slowly.

"Ekkk! W-Who are you!?" Lexter almost jumped out in surprise, not feeling anyone coming up behind him.

"The one who got rid of Hansel and Gretel." He said nonchalantly, hoping for the tinkerer to get his words. Fortunately, he got an idea.

"D-Dude!? How are you here?" He almost shouted before remembering where he was. "And most of all, is it really you?" His tone leaning on the side of suspicion.

"Ichozuc." He said blandly.

"Hey human, you know him?" One of the Demans in the table with Lexter spoke up, although glancing several times back to the ring not to miss out the show.

"Y-Yeah, he's a... buddy of mine."

"We'll talk later," He said to Lexter, although his voice was calm, the techie could sense something hidden behind those disguised words. "The show is still going on, better not miss it out."

Lessa and Raynor instantly knocked out other remaining participants in the ring, leaving just only the two of them alone.

And suddenly, Raynor started to unleash his flame powers against the deity. Right now, he is more worried of the god's wrath than the attention of any other possible 3rd party in the shadows.

If this one is able to warp reality and space, and not forgetting that he would be able to escape said deity's wrath with his items, he is without a doubt shitting his pants.

*BOOM!*

Flames exploded from the ring, making everyone watching the fight shocked and surprised beyond relief.

'Well, as long as they don't go all on out with their powers-'

"Hey! As long as it's not a 'weapon', it doesn't matter, correct?!"

The little girl nodded and she made a 'Ok' handsign and said "Yes" in English.

Yes, all of them are speaking in a different language. Our MC here has just a translator ring which I didn't mention because I was being a dumbass-

Nevermind, perhaps it's time to go.

Both Lessa and Raynold released their full out power, transforming themselves.

Raynold was becoming more inhuman, his skin turning red and veins would have been seen as magma.

For Lessa however, he would look like that Dark Lord from one of the Mystic Ruins Dungeon in Hel. His hair grown long and a tail appeared from his back, he also wore a mask that paired horns, although it's more different from an average Deman horns.

'No... it's embedded along with the skin... Fur, is it his face?'

"What the hell, what the hell are your friends!? They said they were humans-!" The Deman shook Lexter, demanding answers as they were also panicking at the sight of a miniature sun. Surprisingly they weren't burning into ashes.

"I don't know. I never knew these people..." Lexter seemed to be resigned on this. Almost as if life has fled from him.

A giant red hand appeared behind Raynold, he could feel the temperature just increased beyond average. He could feel the heat from a good meter away.

'A summon? No, it seems to be an attack. Something like a magic weapon? It must be like those Invoker classes' skills.' He gritted his teeth as he watched the intense fight.

The audience could only back away, further away from the ring to avoid getting hit from the flames. He could only choose; should he stop the fight or see how this goes?

Sensing the dark presence he felt from Lessa, he preferred living thank you very much. He is not like Jason.

Raynold on the other hand, he is confident he can handle someone who has buffs and burrowed power from a source. But he still doesn't know how he gets that power from. It's no doubt a Fire-type God.

What shocks him next was that Lessa attacks him with something he wasn't familiar with.

But Raynold disappeared after that.

"W-Wait, he disappeared?"

"What just happened!?"

'Don't tell me...' He frowned. 'A fucking infighting? Did Lessa actually planned to kill his own friend? No... I don't think a god like him would consider a human a friend.'

What the hell happened these past 2 days when he was behind them?

"So... There is no one else in the ring. Is it now my win?" Lessa turned to the referee who was also in shock.

Said referee regained his composure, although barely. "A-Ah... Uhhhh... We could say that?!"

The Deman cleared his throat before speaking in a rather loud voice for the audience.

"Then, the winner of the challenge match is, MR. MARCO!"

"""WOOOOOAAAAHH!""" The people in the room cheered.

With the exception of two people who looked at where the ring was, in dark thoughts.

"Don't make me laugh."

A low, rumble voice spoke. It spoke with power, strength and ancient. Everyone tried to look where that voice was coming from, but they found nothing.

"Do you not even do a count?"

This time, they heard it coming from above. The ceiling... It was warped. They could only freeze in their boots and in their seats.

The ceiling looked like reality was cut open. Behind it was a figure in red and spikes falling down onto the floor with a loud thud, making a crater in their wake.

'So that's his transformation huh?' He hummed.

Raynold, or if it is him... He looked more monstrous than anyone else in this room. The power coming from the tall, looming humanoid monster was nothing to be joked at.

But it was almost nowhere near Lessa's power.

Keyword; almost.

Everyone didn't speak a word, didn't move and even forgot to breathe for a moment. They could only hear the faint words spoken from the two.

"What's going on, Raynold?"

"I told you. That I'm no longer human..."

Raynold now. He looked like one of those Sun Imps back in the dungeons of Muspelheim with the combination of those rock golems. Only that he was more humanoid than monstrous compared to what he had thought similarly of.

His skin was more red, rocky and rough. Spikes on every edge of his torso. His face doesn't look human anymore, but the left eye could only glow in very dimmed flames.

Smoke, ash, and sparks of fire surrounded him. Surprisingly, anything from his waist below, it survived.

"The Ninth Emissary, Rael-" He said. "This is the identity of the power I received."

And for now, thats it.

If your still reading this story line, surprising. Since this is more like a story of one of my OCs that I'm planning to introduce once I can make it interconnect with my other stories.

I'm not planning to make this dead afterall.
