Brave Heart
Chapter 3: 1st Class Advancement
A huge giant brick wall lay across the land in the distance, a pure white castle sat at the top of the everything. High Hills Valley, the headquarters of the Order of Holy Light. It sat perch on top of the hill, surrounded by walls to fortify its defences. There was only one entrance, heavily guarded by Holy Knights, impenetrable for years. It had a large and wealth community, rows of shops lies neatly from the entrance. There was all kinds of shops and people were cheerful, the streets filled with busy bustling sounds of transection.
Tai had finally reached High Hills Valley. He had spent two whole days navigating Grand Peak Forest, as well as getting to level 10. He had trained on the goblins Burg mentioned, finally hitting the requirement for his 1st Class Advancement. As he stepped through the town, he was relieved to see Chosen Players again. While grinding in Grand Peak Forest, he had meet with some helpful Chosen Players and managed to exchange some information. After their 1st Class Advancement they helped Tai to get to level 10, with that, they break off for their own journey.
With his 1st Class Advancement in mind, Tai proceeded to the Order of Holy Light immediately after entering the town. He had some managed to gather some information about the Class Advancement from the Party that grinded together. Apparently, it was a simple test of strength and upon passing, they get to decide which Class Advancement they will join. Currently, there are 6 Class Advancement, all warrior classes. The only difference is the weapon choice, method of attacking and unique skills.
Heading into the castle gates, he was stopped by Holy Knights. The whole town was well guarded, from the town’s entrance to the Order’s entrance was all fortified with Holy Knights. The town even had Holy Knights patrolling.
“State your purpose of visiting”, demanded one of the Holy Knights.
“I’m here for my 1st Class Advancement”, replied Tai. Looking at him, the Holy Knights gave him a salute and instructions on where to join the Order. Anyone this young looking deserved a salute for his courage to join in the war. Heading to the administrative department, Tai couldn’t help but be awed. The inner walls of the castle was even more magnificent than the outer walls of the castle. It was filled with pure white walls, angels and holy decorations filled the walls. Elegance and truly majestic.
Reaching the administrative department, he was greeted by a young lady. The young lady introduced herself as Jane before showing him the Advancement test site. In the room, many Chosen Players had gathered and are waiting for the test. The test leader was undoubted a high ranking Holy Knight, with a fierce look on him. He introduced himself as Mattson, a level 87 Holy Knight and explained the test. The test was simple, in the middle of the room was a tablet, placing one’s hand would show what level he was and how much potential he has.
The potential one has will speed up one’s training level and improve the damages the skill can deal out. The potential lies in 5 tiers, ‘Normal, High, Advance, Unique, and Legendary’. The main difference was if skill was used by a character with normal tier potential, it would deal a specific damage. But if a character with legendary tier potential, uses the same skills, he will be able to deal more damage output. Their growth was also affected, the higher the potential tier, the faster one’s character will be able to grow.
Slowly, waiting for his turn, he could hear Mattson mention most Chosen Players range from Normal and High. Mattson didn’t seem pleased. But occasionally, an Advance tier character will appear and only then would he look slightly happy.
“Tai, please step forward”, the announcement finally came.
Slowly approaching the tablet, he was nervous. He kneeled down in front of the tablet and place his hand on it.
“Level 10, pass. Now for the potential tier”, bellowed Mattson.
The number appeared on the tablet, slowly increasing.
“3… 9… 18… 29… 40… 47… 55… 62… 69…” goodness, the number didn’t seem to be stopping. The look on Mattson looked serious. The tier was graded in a numerical system as listed:

Normal Tier1 - 29High Tier30 - 49Advance Tier50 - 69Unique Tier70 - 89Legendary Tier90 - 100
In the past few days, there was only a handful of people capable to break through the Advance tier and reach the Unique tier. To the Holy Knights, as more characters with higher potential tier appear, they could tide over the Dark Forces. To Mattson, this kid in front of him, barely looking over 21, yet held so much potential was a good news. He could hardly take his eyes off the tablet, refusing to blink.
“73… 77… 81… 85… 89…” it was only a number to break into Legendary Tier. The number seemed to halt at 89 for a long while and Mattson could only sigh. Finally breathing in, he blinked and looked at Tai.
“Potential level 89, Unique Tier”, Mattson was disappointed. He had so much expectations and to have it broken was devastating. Currently, there was only 6 Holy Knight who could reach Legendary tier, and they are all monster in their jobs.
Distracted from the tablet, both Mattson and Tai looked at each other. Mattson was immersed in giving the kid some advice. First, he congratulated Tai for having such a high Potential level and reminded him not to slack off. Having high Potential level without training hard will be equivalent to squandering his gift. With that, both Mattson and Tai missed the fact that the number actually rose to 93 instead of 89.
Heading back towards the administrative department, he went and look for Jane. Jane congratulated him and began explaining the Class Advancement.
“Currently, there are 6 weapon classes. Each of them wields a unique weapon to their job and learn vastly different skills. The 6 weapon classes are:
Holy DefenderSword and ShieldHoly BerserkerGreatswordsHoly SwordsmanLongswordsHoly Blade DancerDual BladesHoly GuardianWar HammersHoly BarbarianBattle Axes
Tai looking at the list didn’t hesitate with his decision. He knew he was going to follow the path of a Holy Swordsman. Long Swords were essentially linked to his kendo skills and without a doubt the easiest for him to master. Moreover, he was confident in his ability to wield the Long Sword better than any other weapon. With that, Jane led Tai to the Swordsman Institution, located at the 3rd chamber within the inner sanctuary.
Entering the chamber, there were a few Chosen Players that were gathered there as well, all of them had made the decision to wield Long Swords as well. Jane began by informing him that all Order quest can be registered through her and explain how the system works.
“All order quest can be found on the notice board in front of the administrative office. You must reach the criteria listed on the quest before approval will be given. Upon completion of quest, you will be rewarded the quest rewards as well as Order Points (OP). OP can be spent in our Order, to purchase better equipment or potion for your future journey ahead.” After finish explaining, Jane bid Tai farewell and smooth sailing in his journey and left the chamber.
With that Tai and the fellow new recruits waited aimlessly for the Class Advancement. They waited for close to an hour waiting for new recruits to join in. As Tai slowly grew restless, he heard a loud laughter echoing from the entrance.
“Wahahaha, looks like today, we have a handful of newcomers. Excellent, get ready the ritual”, cried a charming Holy Knight. The Holy Knight was very charming, suited in a full golden armour, with a longsword on his back. The way he walked, the way he presented himself, was almost like nobility. Unlike the poorly dressed new recruits, the air around the Holy Knight was intensive, giving off a god-like aura.
“Welcome new recruits to the humble family of Holy Swordsman. We are a group of Holy Knights that will never succumb to evil. We do not have a shield for extra protection, nor have the best damage. Neither the best speed nor the knockback ability. We have the most average aspect of all Classes, but that is what make us unique. We can survive on our own, without any protection nor help. We who wield the Longsword, have the best distance control among all Holy Knights and it is our greatest weapon against the Dark Forces. Do not falter man, for we can win this war. Today we unite here as brothers in arms, for tomorrow we fight. Let’s proceed with the Holy Ritual.” An intense rally was given, pumping the spirit of the new recruits, even Tai was in awed by the speech given. He was truly impressed.
