2-29. The Headmaster.

Chapter 29 – The Headmaster.

What the hell is happening?

The headmaster thought as she, along with everyone else around her observed the unfolding spectacle, her mind swirled with confusion and disbelief. The very foundation of common sense seemed to crumble before her eyes, leaving her in a state of bewilderment. How could it be that Dian, an unknown stranger with a meager level 2, was overpowering and dominating Arthur, a seasoned knight with a formidable level 30?

In the World of Eos, levels held a peculiar significance. In an unarmed duel like the one Sura had initiated for a dorm room, the advantage typically lay with the participant possessing higher levels. With the raw power of enhanced stats, the individual boasting 50 points in strength, constitution and all other stats would invariably triumph over one with 49 points in all stats. However, this was where experience and cunning played their part, transforming the duel into a battle of wits, strategy and mind games. Yet, there existed an exception to this rule—a person with less than 10 points in all his stats would always succumb to someone with 50 in all attributes. Because no matter how smart an ant is, it will never be able to kill a lion.

The headmaster's mind raced to make sense of the situation. How was it possible that Dian, with a mere level of 2 and almost all stats in the single digits, had managed to upend the established order? Her gaze remained fixed upon the unfolding scene, searching for answers amidst the chaos. The atmosphere within the arena crackled with tension and confusion, mirroring the headmaster's own thoughts.

As the astonishment lingered, whispers began to circulate among the spectators, echoing the headmaster's bewilderment. The crowd, typically well-versed in the intricate dynamics of combat, found themselves grappling with a scenario that defied all logical expectations. The headmaster, their esteemed guide, now grappled with the weight of uncertainty and the need to reassess the fundamental principles governing battles within their realm.

Noticing that the knight Arthur had finally gone unconscious, the referee declared Dian the winner which caused a mass silence within the spectators, everyone looking at each other trying to figure out what happened.

The headmaster turned her attention to Sura, seeking answers in the midst of her bewilderment. Sura, the one who had brought this mysterious stranger into their midst, wore a knowing smile, as if she had anticipated this remarkable turn of events.

"I told you he was interesting," Sura remarked with a hint of satisfaction. "He saved both Nina and me, displaying incredible strength and defeating numerous demons. But imagine my surprise when I discovered that he's just a level 2, not even as strong as a mere four-year-old child."

The headmaster's astonishment gradually gave way to a mix of curiosity and intrigue. The pieces of the puzzle were beginning to fall into place, connecting Dian's extraordinary capabilities with the interest shown by the Elders in granting him a scholarship of this magnitude.

"So," the headmaster mused, "this is the reason the Elders have taken notice of him. There is more to this young man than meets the eye, something that sets him apart from others and piques their curiosity…"

The headmaster, on the verge of addressing the unfolding situation, found herself interrupted by the unexpected intrusion of several noble girls who had climbed into the stadium, driven by a desire to avenge their fallen comrade, Arthur. The headmaster was Initially content to just observe how Dian would take care of this problem, but then her attention was abruptly diverted when she witnessed the girls brandishing their powerful demon armaments. Realizing the imminent danger, she swiftly interceded to prevent any serious harm befalling those involved.

As the headmaster jumped into the middle of the brewing conflict, a sense of authority emanated from her presence. Her arrival caused a momentary pause, drawing the attention of both Dian and the determined girls who were poised to exact vengeance. All eyes turned to her as she had seemingly fallen out of the sky, leaving a sense of awe and intrigue in its wake.

Dian was confused by the woman who had appeared before them. She was a vision of extravagance. Clad in lavish black and purple garments crafted from the finest silk, she exuded an air of sophistication and refinement. A white fur accentuated her ensemble, adding a touch of opulence to her appearance. Her long, flowing black hair cascaded down, perfectly complementing her attire. Completing her ensemble were stylish sunglasses that added an air of mystery to her countenance. Standing taller than Dian, she commanded attention and respect.

A wave of bewilderment washed over both Dian and the girls who had intended to assail him. In the presence of this enigmatic woman, their aggressive intentions seemed to evaporate into thin air. They stood frozen, captivated by the commanding aura she emanated.

"What might you four be doing interrupting this solemn trial?" The headmaster's voice carried authority as she addressed the group of noble girls who had made their way into the stadium. Her gaze shifted momentarily to the trembling referee, Mr. Drake Bigam, who recoiled under her penetrating stare. With a touch of haughtiness in her tone, she continued, "Mr. Bigam, as a teacher of this academy, one would expect fairness and impartiality in your actions. Why did you not intervene to halt the confrontation between nobles and a commoner?"

Mr. Drake's anxiety was palpable as he grappled with the conflicting pressures he faced. He understood that any interference on his part earlier would have placed not only his own life but also his family in grave danger. Yet now, he found himself at risk for perceived unfair treatment of the students. Caught between a rock and a hard place, he struggled to conjure a suitable excuse, but the headmaster, perceptive and unyielding, preempted him.

"Well, let it be," the headmaster interjected, her tone laced with a sense of leniency. "Consider this a warning, for now, as I happen to be in a favorable mood. However, should a similar incident occur again, rest assured that I will not hesitate to terminate your employment."

Mr. Drake, visibly shaken, took a few hesitant steps backward, the weight of the headmaster's words sinking in. He realized the gravity of the situation and the consequences of his actions. With a subdued voice, he replied, "I-I understand."

The headmaster's gaze lingered on Mr. Drake, a mixture of sternness and disappointment in her eyes. She knew the delicate balancing act he was forced to perform in the face of powerful nobles. However, her primary concern lay in upholding fairness and justice within the academy. With a final nod, she shifted her attention back to the group of noble girls. “Now then, You wenches can either take your friend and leave quietly or face my wrath.”

the teenage girls could only lower their heads in shame as they reluctantly helped Arthur off the arena, aware of the disapproving gazes from their peers. The weight of their actions settled heavily upon them, realizing the consequences of their misguided anger.

Sensing the need to restore order and address the situation, the headmaster clapped her hands sharply, cutting through the lingering tension. Her commanding presence demanded attention as she addressed the gathered crowd. "Alright, everyone. While it was necessary for Mr. Dian to face multiple opponents in this unconventional trial, I trust that no one objects to his presence among you in the dormitories."

A hushed silence fell over the spectators. Though some may have harbored resentment or frustration at the turn of events, the headmaster had made her stance clear. She had taken Dian's side and demonstrated that she would not tolerate any opposition, regardless of the individual's social standing or familial connections.

The crowd understood the implications of the headmaster's words. Her fiery determination and unwavering support for Dian sent a message that would not be easily dismissed. Despite any underlying dissent, it was clear that the headmaster would stand firmly behind her decision, ensuring fairness and justice within the academy's walls.

The murmurs among the students began to fade as they processed the headmaster's words. They recognized that their own anger and entitlement had contributed to the circumstances that led to this moment. Though perhaps not entirely pleased with the outcome, they understood that the headmaster's authority superseded their individual opinions.

As the crowd dispersed, the headmaster observed the shifting dynamics, her gaze lingering on the silent, contemplative faces. She knew that she had to appease the Nobles somewhat with force but Dian might have ruffled some feathers, She would remain steadfast in her commitment to upholding justice and creating an inclusive environment for all, but she could not help Dian in personal matters Which meant only one thing. Dian had to level up.

“All that’s left to take care of now is… you.” The headmaster said as Dian raised his hands, The Bone blade shining under the sunlight.

“Don’t worry Mr. Dian, I’m not your foe.” She said as Sura had also walked down and greeted Dian. The stadium now had no one left around besides a few curious students trying to watch from afar and the three of them.
