Chapter 4: Fort Leus

Chapter 4: Fort Leus

“My Lord! Gronda and Kikit at your service.” A large dark green orc and a small black goblin wearing aprons spoke in unison as they glanced at the heap of metal.

Orcs were usually large bulky creatures with massive amounts of strength and while not having much intelligence, could still once in a blue moon be born with a level approaching humans.

Those orcs would usually be called Blessed Kind, as they both had the superior strength of orcs and the intelligence of humans, Gronda was one of them.

Gronda is said to be the best weaponsmith in Kan-Celeste and adored making new weapons from different kinds of metals.

Kikit on the other hand was a goblin, about half the size of a human, almost the same size as a dwarf. He had the ears of a cat and long narrow eyes with a set of razor sharp teeth in his wide mouth.

Goblins are usually compared with dwarfs, as the only real difference between them is their appearance. Both creatures are born with a passion for something, but the main passion that goblins have is inventing new things and magic metals, while for dwarves it is metals and food.

Kikit stood at the top of this as he was widely known to be the best at magic and magic metals

“This is..?” Kikit scratched his bald head as he inspected the metal.

“This is something from the new world, two humans seemed to be ejected from it so I assume it to be a transport vehicle?”

“Oh! A transport, no, there’s no magic so it can’t be. Unless that idea of mine? No! Hmm..” Kikit jumped around the charred metals as he broke some pieces off the heap and inspected them.

“Good metal! No magic.. but good! Strong!” Gronda held a piece as he took a hammer off his apron and hit it a couple of times.

Raulas frowned as he stared at their starry eyes and quick hands handling the metal.

“Lord Raulas, I’m back!” Emelia’s voice echoed through the town as she hopped down from a building.

“Very good, what did you find?” Raulas’ face formed a smile as he rubbed her head.

As if a cat, she closed her eyes and enjoyed the sensation. “Y.. Yes! Uhm… So my little children said they saw some cliffs with an encampment on top with some very small towers all pointed into the air and lots and lots of people, it didn’t seem like a town so I guess it might be military?” Emelia tried using hand gestures to describe what she saw, but ended up just flailing around.

“Lord Raulas, the man that fell first spoke in a weird language, it’s definitely not one I know of.” An elderly wolfman spoke as he pointed at Karlens parachute.

So this is another world.. A weird language and weird people.. What a weird world..

Raulas nodded to the elderly wolfman whose tail started wagging.

“I’ll leave this mess to you two, inspect it carefully.” Gronda and Kikit both stopped messing with the metals to bow, and went at it again.

“Those two never change.. Even after everything.” Raulas smiled and made a quick turn, returning to the castle.

Jusla Republic, Fort Leus.

Jusla was an island nation that, in the previous years, had been doing well for itself. It rode a wave of technology and prosperity that pushed it to be among the world powers.

Thinking it had enough power, the republic decided to invade a country on the mainland, Einzalt.

Between Jusla and Einzalt sat the small island of Atu with no remarkable features other than that it was extremely beautiful and surrounded by plenty of beaches. It had been a residential island for the rich but before the war broke out, nearly everyone had evacuated and returned to the mainland.

Those left on the island either had previous military service, or had donated large sums of money to continue staying on the island.

In their place, the Einzalti military turned the beautiful resort island of Rosar into a big fortress which guarded the capital, Zalich.

Fort Leus was named after the Sea of Leus which sat in between Jusla and Einzalt.

It sat at the tip of Jusla’s peninsula to the south and had previously served as a trade city.

Currently, within Fort Leus’ town hall sat Captain Benjamin Mea. He looked to be a man in his 50’s with white hair and a deep scar on his face, yet if anyone under his command were to be asked if they could beat him in a fight, they would immediately say “No!” with a proud look.

Benjamin was doing paperwork when he heard a knock on the door and answered.

A man in Jusla’s signature red navy uniform came in and saluted, “Sir! There’s no sign of the enemy aircraft.”

“What? They’re not here yet? Keep looking if they’re not here yet, why did you come here!?” Benjamin barked as he took out a large box with buttons and a screen.

The soldier saluted with a calm face and retreated.

Fiddling with the box, just as Benjamin was getting frustrated, it came to life with a constant screech. “Stupid thing, now you turn on when I’m getting angry.” He angrily chuckled as he patted it and turned some knobs.

“Sir! Radio Receiver Amy at your service!” A young girl's voice came through the radio as the screeching ended. Benjamin pressed down on a button, holding it as he put his mouth to a cone.

“This is Captain Benjamin Mea of Fort Leus, connect me to General Kennedy Tores.” He replied in his softest voice and smiled slightly.

“Yes sir! Connecting you to Sir General Kennedy Tores in.. 5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1..” The line cut as the screech began again, yet it ended not long after.

“Captain Mea, how can I help you?” A deep, middle-aged voice came through the radio.

“General Tores, I was told from an informant under you that a plane carrying highly explosive equipment was set to bomb Fort Leus, yet the time has arrived, but the plane has not. Do you have any information on this?” Benjamin returned to his rough voice as he asked directly.
