New Star City was a desert a few years back, but now it was a booming metropolis full of sky scrapers. The cause of this great change was a meteor shower that upon impact revealed a hidden cave system which was full of precious metals  and stones leading to a modern gold rush that fulled the extreme rapid growth rate of this new "Jewell of the Desert" as it was called by its inhabitants.

   In this city were  almost every soul that came here were after even tiniest bit of wealth legally or not, mostly not, was also a young man which took his arrival here as an opportunity to get rich, but having no luck so far...

(Fuck he changed my ringtone again!)

?: Oh! Hey Jack! How are you man?

Jack: Fuck you Chris! You hear me? Fuck you! This is the third time you changed the ringtone of my phone, a machine gun ! Really?!

Chris: Ah!... Sorry man, forgot about it don't worry it only rings like that for me.

Jack: Is that supposed to make a difference?!

Chris: Sorry man! How many times you I have to say it.

Jake: Make it quick, what do you want? Calling me at this hour you know I just finished a 12 hour shift.

Chris: Well... you know Akemi ...

Jake: No!

Chris: Come on man ! What do you want from me ?

Jake: Nothing! Bye!

Chris: Wait! Wait! She has a birthday party coming up soon man, I'm sure I can fix you up with one of her hot friends remember blue eyes. You know the one. Come on!

Jack: OK...But you better pay me for this shift also.

Chris: Deal! I already told the "Captain". Thanks man!

   He was an asshole sometimes, but the fucker was the best wing man ever and one of my best's friends...actually the only one since I came here now that I think about it.

   I got up only after a 3 hours sleep, took a quick shower, a bite to eat and left my apartment. Shortly after 3 subway stations and 10 minutes the place which eats most of my time since I came here greeted me imposingly. The "New Star Mall" 3rd biggest building in the world this behemoth was one of the simbols of wealth that made  this city known world wide,  it's 4 conored star design made it unmistakable among other constructions that appeared like mushrooms after rain in this city.

   As soon as I entered my coworker greeted me, more exactly one of my bosses.

?: Hey Silvers! Talked with Chris, so you are substituting for him again?

Jack: Hey "Captain"! Yeah he is paying me extra besides the salary so more money doesn't hurts.

Captain: Well you're with me and Ron, west sector, ground floor, the shift starts at 00:00 so you're free until then.

(Serious as always I see...)

Jack: Ok! See you there.

   The "Captain" was just a nickname of course because he was to serious and was on the police force before he was kicked out for not following orders or so the rumor goes, but considering how dirty the cops are in this city that most likely was bullshit, despite all his faults he was a great guy and a semi-good boss.

   After changing in my uniform what the mirror reflected was just an average 21 white guy, black hair, brown eyes, a bit shorter than average, not fat, skinny or muscular the only feature that standed out was my eyes which looked scary to most people, but I liked them it kept a lot of annoying pitpocketers or other money hungry "creatures" that hunted the streets away from me and got me this job. A security guard wasn't the best job one could have but damn it had a lot of perks from free stuff, discounts, flexible schedule and a pretty good pay compared to other places run by the greedy people.

    All seemed normal, most of the shops were closed, still a few were a bit behind and then as soon as I arrived in my sector I got a feeling...

   (What the hell!!!) My heart started beating faster, my muscles tensed, I looked left and right everything seemed normal!?

   Everything changed in a second!!!
