“I see, you are in trouble in everything except science…” Seigen said with a sigh.
“Yeah, because you see, I have to learn so many body parts. Though you could say I am limited to biology and physics.” Sigrun replied with a smile.
“Well, let’s put that aside and proceed with general knowledge. First, a sufficient knowledge about one of our developing weapons, the Exturbo.” Seigen said as he laid out Sigrun’s notes and brings out a pen of his own.
“Hmm, I still don’t see the point of studying these scraps.” Sigrun stated his opinion with an unmotivated countenance.
“I wouldn’t say that, especially to call them scraps. You see, the recent development of Exturbo greatly contributes to a lot of things. Their first and foremost usage is for battle against a large magical beast. Ascertaining the safety of the one battling it, at the same time, possessing an equal size to destroy it.” Seigen explained knowingly.
“But you know, there are people who can actually fight off giants like that.” Sigrun replied.
“That’s right, like the Ten Paladins. But Sigrun, think of this, while the Ten Paladins are away and what’s left of the populace are rather unable and unwilling to bring harm to themselves, won’t an Exturbo be a convenient weapon to use? At this age, powerless and casual people are everywhere and you cannot expect them to train themselves in this age of peace.” Seigen’s tone is tinged with a little impatient and reprimanding.
“That’s…I guess you are right. Thank you for teaching me its importance. Up until now, I just thought of it as something crude.” Sigrun bows down lightly.
“I know where you are coming from. For you, it’s no feat to destroy large magical beasts, right? Well, despite that misconception you created against Exturbo, you easily extended your horizon for it.” Seigen sprouted a faint wry smile.
“So, these Exturbos can also be capable of space travel in the near future, right? If you can strengthen its foundation enough, it can also dive deeper into the ocean or into a mouth of a volcano.” Sigrun happily expressed his new found knowledge.
“Yes, there are a lot of on-going projects to develop those functions for near future expeditions. To pursue such dreams, we do a lot of trial and error. Moving on to the subject, the common parts of Exturbos.” Seigen said as he pointed out a writing on Sigrun’s notes.
“Ah, they did say that in the test, only the general parts of Exturbos will appear. But now that I thought about it, their parts are also quite hard to remember.” Sigrun mulled as he lands his forehead on his arms that are resting on the table.
“That’s indeed troublesome for people who aren’t interested in such, however, students of Estelle Academy are mandated to learn about it. Don’t worry, I shall assist you as much as I can. We were told of your secret. That only means the headmaster must hold great expectation from us.” Seigen replied with a still face devoid of any visible emotions.
“Anyway, let’s start!” Sigrun suggested as he saw how flat Seigen’s countenance is.
“Exturbos are generally made out of steel, however, the components alone such as that is not enough. Two general kinds of metals are imbued to further strengthens its foundation while keeping it as light as possible. One is Adamantine and the second is Mythril.” Seigen explained as he drew two stone of differing figures.
“Umm…I am familiar with those two ores but I cannot seem to determine why to use two of them?” Sigrun asked while tilting his head quizzically.
“Most civilians are aware of their existence, however, those two serve separate uses which most overlook. First, Adamantine is an ore which is usually tough and dense. Its property serves as a strong defense that can withstand both physical and magical attack. It is also an ore that was first used on first generation Exturbo. However, as Exturbos becomes leaner, another way of strengthening was founded, as such, the Mythril. Mythril is a better magical energy conductor and with a pilot with equally good magical energy output, the better it will function.” Seigen gave an elaborate explanation regarding the components of Exturbo.
“Adamantine and Mythril are two main components of the Exturbos armor. If that alone, I think I can manage to remember them, especially their uses. Then, there is this magical lining for them, their specific enhancements, the four types, their weapons with inscriptions, and more.” Sigrun counted all the things he needs to learn.
“I see, there’s a lot to learn. Since it’s going to be like that, can we go somewhere else? I’m pretty much sure it will take us quite a time to discuss everything.” Seigen suggested as he stood up from his chair.
“Then, how about my house? It’s close by, I mean, it’s literally inside the Academy District…” Sigrun said with a smile.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Yeah, let me have a look at your techbook too. I will teach you personally after all.” Seigen replied positively as he helps Sigrun to compile his notes.
Meanwhile, the lone listener who just finished brewing another coffee overheard their conversation.
“Eh? Eh…?! That means…the two of them are going to have a hot and steamy private lesson?! Sir Seigen even said that he looks forward to the night to come! Sir Sigrun will submit himself and Sir Seigen will be dominating…! Ack!” Rita’s mind started drifting into the gutter.
“Ah, Rita! Your nose! Your nose is bleeding!” Lecia shouted as she noticed her friend having a massive nosebleed.
“Eeep!” Rita, upon noticing the dripping blood from her nose, immediately wipes it with the apron she is wearing.
However, her cries attracted Sigrun and Seigen’s attention before they can even leave the café. Even as she wipes her bleeding nose, her face is extremely flustered to the point that she looks like she has a fever.
Sigrun, seeing this, started to worry, seeing how the girl he’s been observing earlier seems sickly. It’s not pure good will but his worry is sincere.
“Are you okay? Say, let me take a look.” Sigrun said as he places a hand on Rita’s forehead.
“Ah, please, don’t touch her casually! She is-!” Lecia shouted as she tried to grab hold of Sigrun’s wrist but was a second late.
“Eeep!” Rita immediately moves her head away from Sigrun’s hand in panic while uttering another cry.
“Ahh…” Sigrun muttered as he realized it immediately.
“Hey, are you okay? Hey…!” Lecia asked Sigrun with a horrid anxiousness.
“Yeah, I’m fine, though I know what I felt. That girl…is she perhaps an Alpsis’s subspecies Succubus? A felt a faint magic from her body.” Sigrun said as he looks at his palm.
“Sigrun, you were able to discern such thing through touch alone?” Seigen asked.
“Yeah, Succubus is a race that perpetually releases faint magical energy around their body. That doesn’t give stress to them and the magical energy that envelopes them are actually a passive spell that charms people. Just now, with the power of Fate the Vajra of Karma, it was rejected.” Sigrun said in amazement.
“Please don’t casually speak of those! Anyway, is that girl fine?” Seigen lightly scolded Sigrun and at the same time, asked about Rita’s condition.
“Ah, please don’t mind her too much. She occasionally gets nosebleed because she gets so much excited. She is what you may call a fujoshi.” Lecia happily explains.
“Lecia!!!” Rita shouted in embarrassment as her face is once again colored in bloodshot blush.
“What’s a fujoshi?” “What is a fujoshi?” Sigrun and Seigen simultaneously asked with queried countenances upon hearing an unfamiliar word.
“Ah, a fujoshi is someone who loves BL!” Lecia promptly explained.
“NOOOOOOO!” Rita writhed on the ground like her ears are bleeding. “Stop! LECIA!” Rita once again shouted as she pulls Lecia away from Sigrun and Seigen.
“Hmm, what does BL stands for?” Sigrun asked.
“Please ignore what Lecia just said!” Rita pleaded with teary eyes.
“Ah, it seems BL stands for Boy's Love. What’s more, fujoshi is a term widely used for girls who are addicted to a romance between men. Hmm, it’s not that I am bothered. There’s wide array of cultures and people all over the world.” Seigen explained as he looked it up on his phone.
“Yeah, I’m definitely learning today. But that BL, isn’t it just basically a homo?” Sigurn said.
“Don’t call it like that…” Rita called out with a pleading voice.
“Is that so? So it’s only that, huh? I’m just glad you aren’t sick or something. But still, what did you get excited about anyway?” Seigen asked Rita with a curious gaze.
“Maybe Rita saw you two as a pair and her imagination ran wild.” Lecia abruptly said with a grin, thus making Rita hides further herself as she hugs her knees.
“Ahahaha! What a lively imagination! That’s what it takes to be young. Well, we’ll leave now so please take care of yourselves. Come, Seigen.” Sigrun laughs it off and proceeded to exit the café.
“Just to be clear, we aren’t in any romantic relationship. I don’t have any plan on admonishing your likes and dislikes.” Seigen said before he followed Sigrun.
“Oh, they left, Rita.” Lecia said as she taps on Rita’s shoulder.
“I hate you.” Rita said with a pout.
“Ahehehe!~ Good thing there are only a few customers. They were so nice, right?” Lecia said with a gentle smile.
“But to bluntly say all of that…you idiot. They are also famous you know.” Rita replied as she goes back to her post started brewing another cup of coffee again.
“You think so that Sir Sigrun is amazing though. To not be charmed by you even though he directly touched you.” Lecia said with a glee as she teases her friend.
“M-Maybe I’m just that unattractive! No…but…a lot of time…people who touch me…” Rita’s shoulder trembles as she utters those words.
“You’re spilling the coffee…” Lecia said.
“Uwah! Geez, because you always teases me, Lecia!” Rita said with a pout.
“Ehehehe! Oh, a customer. Do your best, Rita!” Lecia left Rita and greeted another customer.
“Lecia…I’m glad that you are a good friend…if you are not just throwing crucial things about me…!” Rita looked at her friend’s back with a half-closed eyes full of dismay.
“But…where would I find myself if we hadn’t become friends…” Her eyes change to a relieve and warm one as these thoughts cross her mind.
“Yahoo, Rita, two Expresso with a cream top!” Lecia returned with an order for Rita.
“You are still a jerk though.” Rita sends a word to Lecia with a smile as she gets back on her job.
“Eh…?” Lecia was left dumbfounded.
Meanwhile, Sigrun has arrived at his house together with Seigen and has taken him to his room. Upon arrival, Seigen started rummaging through Sigrun’s stuff with his permission to look for the techbook.
“Hmm, Sigrun, you don’t have much stuff in your room even though the other rooms are fully furnished and complete with all necessities. Even your fridge has some raw foods to cook.” Seigen voices out his concern.
“Hmm…those are hardly my doing. Anything more than necessities should be brought with my own allowance. If I have to say, I don’t have much to buy something like a game console. Though, Meld promised me to buy me a phone.” Sigrun replied with a shrug.
“I see, but wouldn’t a part-time job an option. You can earn to buy for your own spendings.” Seigen suggested as he pulled a rectangular object inside a cabinet.
“Part-time job, huh…I guess I can do that.” Sigrun nodded to himself as he considers it.
“I’ve found what I’m looking for. Let’s start immediately.” Seigen said as he beckons Sigrun.
