“How much longer till they get here?”

I was beginning to get anxious as I helped Selena set up camps near the battlefield where Glarek will appear.

“About a day. So, can you please relax and stop asking me that question.”

We finished setting up the final tent for the camp, and while we were doing that, Ruby was entertaining the troops with some magic tricks, Lucy was showing Connor how to ride a Pegasus, as Me, Matt, Leo, and Selena went over the battle plan.

“So, we will have the main troops in the front with Me, Alex, and Leo. The Pegasi riders and the spear users will be in the middle area with Lucy and Connor and will come in from the sides. Matt will be with the archers in the back, assaulting the enemy with flocks of arrows. We also have canons and trebuchets to use in the battle. We will have healers on every side, but Ruby will be on the front lines. I’m not sure how this battle plan will go since we don’t know how Glarek’s army will attack. I’d say we have a 50 percent chance for this battle plan to work. If not, we attack them head-on.”

Selena’s second-in troop came into the tent with news on Glarek and his army.

“Princess Selena, we have found Glarek and his army quickly approaching. They will be here by morning in the plains. We have estimated at least 200 troops, maybe more. We also saw three medium-sized canons that could demolish our troops, but they seem to be a last resort. They also have Wyvern riders with them.”

“I see. Thanks, Isokama. So, by what you said, we are outnumbered in troops, and the canons will make it difficult to win, but since they are using it as a last resort, we will have to take them out somehow before they have a chance to use them. This will be a difficult battle.”

Selena took her time to think of a plan to get rid of the canons but couldn’t think of anything. The troops partied the night away as we went to rest. We awoke to the sound of a battle horn that signaled Glarek and his army were approaching. Selena estimated they will be at the plane in 3 hours, enough time to head to the battlefield. Selena lined up all the troops to give them a speech before we headed out to the battle.

“Ok, everyone, listen up. We are outnumbered in this battle, and they have three medium-sized canons that could demolish anyone of you, but know this! We have the legendary Neon Cavaliers at our side, and we are the strongest army in the world! What I’m saying is that this battle will be nothing for us. Let’s give them hell! Move out, troops!”

They all clapped, cheering Selena as she got on her horse. We all followed to the plains to fight Glarek the Orc and his army. Once we arrived at the plains, a thick fog began to roll in, making it hard to see. We heard the beat of drums, signaling that Glarek and his army have arrived. Selena told the troops to stay calm and ready their weapons. One of the troops got anxious and ran into the smoke. Selena yelled at him to wait for her signal, but once he entered the thick fog, he let out a scream and went silent fast. Some goblins ran out of the smoke, and we engaged in combat. The goblins were weak, but the fog made them dangerous. Selena fell off her horse as one of the goblins attacked her. I ran toward her and killed the goblin, putting my back next to hers as we fought the enemy.

“You ok?”

“I’m fine, but this fog is making it more difficult than expected.”

As we were fighting, Selena asked If I have a skill that clear the fog around the area.

“No, but maybe I can use one of my skills to light the area.”

“Try it. Light this place up.”

I smiled, help up my sword in the air, and spun it around my body.

“Incineration slash!”

A large flame went in all directions, killing the enemies in its proximity and getting rid of the fog so we can see where the enemies are and attack as planned.

“Well, that takes care of that.”

“Nice job Alex. All troops move forward and attack.”

The troops charged at all the enemies. Matt and the archers fired a barrage of arrows into the sky, hitting the goblins. I was attacking the goblins with Leo and Selena when I heard a loud boom. I told them to get behind me. I summoned my shield, blocking a cannonball, and tossed it aside.

“Looks like they’re using the canons now.”

“Yes, we are. You stand no chance now.”

I looked to see who was speaking to us. The person was 8 feet tall, chubby, had green skin, and had a rough voice. I looked at their face to see two fangs and dark red eyes, knowing it was Glarek the Orc.

“So, you are one of the Neon Cavaliers. You look weak.”

“You sure? I’m pretty sure I can kick your ass.”

“You talk tough. What your name?”

“Alexander Durham, but I prefer Alex.”

“Alex?”

He lifted his battle giant mallet slamming it on the ground, throwing dust in the air as he charged at me.

“Prepare to be crushed!”

He slammed his hammer into me, throwing me back. I managed to land on my feet but nearly lost my balance. I saw Ruby healing a soldier with her staff. I yelled at her to get Connor and Matt and bring them here to help fight Glarek. She nodded her head, leaving to get them. I looked over to see Selena and Leo fighting him and ran over to help them out as Ruby went to get the others.

“Your attacks do nothing to me. You all weak!”

I stood next in between Leo and Selena, holding my sword up.

“I asked Ruby to go and get Matt and Connor. How’s the situation going with ugly here Leo, any progress with damage?”

“Our attacks are barely doing a scratch. Maybe if we had Connor use his support skill, we could do some damage.”

Glarek was about to attack when arrows fell from the sky, causing an explosion when they hit him. We looked up to see Connor on a Pegasus with Matt on it too. Glarek swung his mallet in the air, and we heard a boom again. A cannonball came hurtling toward them, blowing them off the Pegasus as they dodged, they landed on the ground next to us. I chuckled and pointed my sword at Glarek.

“It’s over for you now, Glarek! You’re fighting the Neon Cavaliers now!”

We all charged at Glarek as he yelled and charged at us. I used my shield to block him as Matt ran around him, shooting arrows. Leo did multiple slashes as Connor hit his feet, causing him to stumble back.

“Connor, use your support skill so we can do some extra damage.”

“Huh? Why we’re doing fine without it.”

“If we don’t end this battle quickly, more troops are going to die. Just do it!”

Connor clenched his spear tightly, saying fine as he used his support skill. Glarek the orc lifted his mallet in the air, causing it to turn into an axe.

“A terrible mistake! Me mad now!”

He swung his axe and hit us, causing a massive amount of damage. I got up, looking at my friends.

“Is everyone alright?”

They all said they were ok but badly injured. Ruby and Lucy came by to heal us, but some goblins and bloodhound wolves stopped them as Lucy tried to get Ruby past them. Glarek turned his axe back into a mallet and struck the ground, causing it to shake and made the ground spike up with sharp rocks.

“Earthquake!”

We fell onto the ground as sharp rocks came out underneath, tossing us into the air. Glarek then turned his mallet into an axe, swinging it around his head.

“Hurricane storm!”

A small wind blew us around in circles before slamming us into the ground at high speeds. We could barely stand up on our feet after the attack. I coughed out blood as my vision began to disappear before I heard a voice.

“I won’t let you die here!”

I looked up to see Selena kneeling in front of me, holding her hand out. I grabbed her hand, and she pulled me up to my feet, handing me a healing potion. I restored my health and looked at my friends to see Ruby giving them healing potions. They got to their feet with their health fully restored.

“You Neon Cavaliers are weak. Could barely handle my power.”

I looked at him and smirked.

“Weak? We’re just warming up. Get ready now.”

We charged at him as he turned his axe into a mallet again, using his earthquake skill. I dodged all the rocks and used my Incineration Slash skill, causing a whirlwind around him. Matt ran up one of the rocks and jumped into the air as he shot a barrage of arrows at Glarek. Connor and Leo attacked his legs, causing him to stumble back and fall to the ground. I looked at my friends, telling them we should all attack together in a barrage. They agreed, and we launched our assault, attacking him simultaneously, causing him to fall to his knees.

“I have underestimated you. You Neon Cavaliers are strong.”

I could tell he was weak after our assault, so I decided to use my ultimate skill and finish him off.

I put my sword in my scabbard, put my right arm forward, and raised my index finger, middle finger, and thumb forward as I charged my ultimate skill.

“Fire flash!”

I fired a large, flame-like energy beam at Glarek, completely engulfing him in the blast. I put my arm down after firing the and saw that he was burnt and barely breathing. We thought we defeated him, but his wounds began to heal as he stood up, regaining his strength.

I stepped back, shocked.

“No way! Can he regenerate? No, someone or something healed him.”

He got up, closing and opening his hand. He then looked out in the distance.

“So, she actually used her healing spell on me and raised all my stats to help me in this battle. I never expected she would do that.”

He looked at Me, and I could see the rage in his eyes as he summoned another mallet in his hand, turning both into axes.

“You nearly killed me with that skill. I am going to kill all of you now. Fire all cannons, leave no one alive.”

A barrage of cannonballs fell from the sky, causing flames and smoke to rise.

“Selena, do you have any more healing potions?”

“Yeah, I do.”

She handed me the healing potions, and I tossed some to my friends, telling them to heal up. We engaged with combat again, as I used my support skill on everyone. My shield clashed with one of his axes as Selena blocked the other axe from hitting me with her sword. Matt and Leo used a combo skill, making him stumble back. He screamed and combined his earthquake skill and hurricane storm skill, causing the wind to throw sharp rocks in all directions.

“Damn, we really pissed him off now.”

We continued our attacks, but with the cannonballs coming towards us, we had to be careful when we attacked him. I had an idea to try and get rid of them, so I asked Lucy to try and get her Pegasus, which luckily heard her whistle. I hopped on the Pegasus with her as we flew to look for the cannons and destroy them.

When we found one of the cannons, I jumped off Lucy’s Pegasus landing on the ground killing the goblins that tried to stop me. I got in front of the cannon and used my ultimate skill, destroying it. Glarek noticed the explosion, yelling at all the goblins to go and stop me from destroying the other two cannons. I got to the second cannon and destroyed it when a large group of goblins surrounded me. I held my ground, fighting them off, but they were too much as I quickly got overwhelmed. They kept on coming with no end until Yuki came in, killing them all with lightning-fast speed.

“Sir Alex, are you all right?”

“I’m fine, Yuki. Help me while I go and destroy the final canon. I’m counting on you, so you better not let me down.”

“Yes, Sir Alex.”

“Let’s go, Yuki!”

We ran toward the final cannon, killing the goblins that stood in our way. Once we made it, I destroyed it very quickly, as Lucy came by to take us back to Glarek.

Yuki and I jumped off Lucy’s Pegasus, running back toward the others.

“You destroyed the cannons. They were our only chance at victory.”

Glarek used a magic skill, making a thick fog appear. We heard his ominous laughter all around us, and we ended up getting separated from each other. I called for everyone to see if they were all right or near me, but I received no answer.

I heard a scream that sounded like Yuki and Selena as the fog began to clear a bit up. I looked around yelling out for Selena and Yuki when I saw someone in a black cloak standing next to a person holding a spear. In front of them were two bodies lying on the floor. I looked closer before running towards them, screaming. One of them killed both Yuki and Selena. The hodded one laughed, and the fog began to grow thicker again.

“Who are you two! What did you do to them!”

All I heard was his laughter all around me. I yelled, calling them a coward and to come out to face me. As I was screaming, I heard a familiar voice call my name. I looked over to see Connor running toward me with his spear at his side. I waved at him but noticed something was wrong. Conner jumped into the air thrusting his spear forward as I nearly dodged it.

“Connor, what the hell?! Why are you attacking me?!”

He didn’t say a word as I blocked his attacks with my shield, I didn’t want to fight back as he is one of my friends, but I didn’t have a choice. I got my sword out, attacking him and throwing him back. He stood there for a while before disappearing as the fog grew thicker. I didn’t let my guard down as I heard another voice. I looked over to see Leo waving at me.

“Cool, I found you.”

He walked toward me as I got into a fighting stance, and he backed up a little.

“Are you going to attack me?”

“Attack you? Why would I do that.”

I held my stance a little longer but ultimately gave up and walked toward him, telling him what happened to me.

“So, you saw that Yuki and Selena were killed by someone in a cloak or by a person holding a spear next to him, and Connor attacked you. Glarek is messing with your mind.”

“If he is messing with us, I’m going to torture him till he drops dead.”

We walked around the fog till we bumped into Matt, who was with Ruby and Lucy. I told them about what happened to me and what I saw. Ruby explained that the things we saw were possibly cognitions of the future created by Glarek to mess with our emotions and minds. We eventually found Connor, Selena, and Yuki. I ran toward Yuki and Selena, asking if it really was them and not a cognition made by Glarek. They told me that it really was them but wanted to know if I really was myself. I told them it was me and that the cognitions they saw was me attacking the kingdom as I turned into a dragon, destroying everything in my path.

“Me turning into a dragon. Is something like that really possible?”

Before they could say something, the fog began to dissipate, and we saw Glarek standing in front of us. We got ready to attack as he noticed us.

“Damn, my MP ran out.”

I yelled at him about the cognitions some of us saw.

“Cognitions? I don’t have that ability.”

“Liar!”

I charged at him as everyone else followed behind me. Yuki and I combined our attacks as Connor and Leo did a combo skill aiming it at his face. Ruby jumped in the air doing a dropkick to his head, pushing him back. I told them to hold him for a minute while I charge my ultimate skill to end the battle. I began to charged my ultimate attack, putting all my MP into the attack. I yelled at them to get away as I fired my ultimate attack at full power.

“Fire Flash: full power!”

I fired a huge blast that pushed me back a little, hitting Glarek as I heard him let out a scream. When my attack dissipated, Glarek was still standing for a bit but collapsed backward onto the ground. I walked toward him, putting my sword in front of him.

“Please- don’t kill me. I’ll surrender if you let me live. I will even tell you something about the devil king. Just please show me mercy.”

“Fine, just start talking before I change my mind.”

“There are five more generals who are far stronger than me. I have a map that shows where they will attack next; I was supposed to join them once this battle was over. The date of the attack is written on it too! Please take it and let me live! I beg you!”

I took the map and showed it to the others.

“Looks like there are more pieces to it. If I had to guess, we have to beat the other generals to get them which will show where to find the devil king. Am I right, Glarek?”

“Yes, you are right. Now please let me go!”

“Fine.”

I pulled my word back and walked away.

“Thank- wait... what are you doing? Please don’t kill m-”

I turned around to see that Connor impaled Glarek in the head with his spear, killing him on the spot. He pulled it out and looked at us.

“What? He was a villain; he was supposed to be killed.”

“He surrendered Connor, he asked for mercy, and I gave it to him. There was no point in ending his life the way you did.”

“I did us a favor. He could have been tricking us.”

“He surrendered! Look around the goblins are retreating!”

“Because I killed him! And the only reason I killed him was to show you guy’s that I’m no pushover, so stop treating me like I’m the weakest out of all of you!”

Yuki pushed us aside, telling us to stop arguing, that we won the battle and should be celebrating together. We looked away and didn’t say anything, but Yuki took it as if we made up with each other. Selena gathered the troops that survived to tell them we have achieved victory and to head back to the castle to celebrate. The troops cheered as the final goblin retreated, and we headed back to the kingdom.

I began to think about the cognition of Connor attacking me, me turning into a Dragon attacking the kingdom, and that man wearing a black cloak with the person holding a spear next to him.

“Could it be? No way that could happen.”

I gathered with the others as we took apart the camp and headed for the kingdom to celebrate the victory against Glarek the Orc and his army.
