Chapter 2: The Godsworns

N.E. 702 the war with the Worldeaters began anew. One by one the nephilim kingdoms surrounding the Voidgate were attack. Many were slaughtered and force to leave their kingdoms as the Worldeaters continued to expand their invaded lands, even managing to reach Avalon's borders. The nephilims after succeeding failures to defend their lands, finally requested help from the other races. With the other countries informed of the situation, help gradually came.

With the help of reinforcements from the neighboring elves, avalonians and dwarves, the expansion of the Worldeaters' territories were stopped. The war was fought out for many years and with the intervention from the other races the invaders were gradually pushed back. By N.E. 709 seven years since the time the they had once again showed up in NeoGaea the Voidgate was finally closed and sealed. The Worldeaters were once more defeated.

Ans so whole world thought the crisis has already concluded. But the truth was, it was only the beginning.

N.E. 710 a year after humanity's victory, another Voidgate opened at the borders of Avalon. Alarms were raised and another war began anew. It took another year before the gate was sealed. From then on humanity just knew, that this won't be the last.

N.E. 7015 Country of Avalon - The Godsworn's Household within the Kingdom of Athureon

Two kids could be seen barging into someones bedroom.

"Hey brother wake up. Classes are beginning today!"

Angelo Godsworn, a boy 5 years of age, full of energy and possessing an undeniably impish cute face. His hair was pure white, a trait similar to all Angelic Nephilims.

"You promised you'd be our guide on our first day!"

Seraphina Godsworn, a girl of the same age, she seems to emit an air of a pure innocence and cuteness. Being fraternal twins, their faces were closely identical.

The two cheerfully spoke as they try to rouse the person in bed, but their efforts seems to be showing no effect.

"Umph! Come on brother! We're going to be late if you don't wake up now."

"Step aside Phina, let me try this. [Guiding Orb]."

An orb of light glowed glowed in midair. The boy controlled it to make it hover towards the face of his brother. The light somehow had an effect making him grunted in discomfort then placing  an arm on top of his eyes.

"Its not enough, we need something better."

"Hey Gelo, how about the one he taught us yesterday?"

"Hmmm...that might work. You try it."

The boy positioned himself near his brothers head. At his signal he removed the arms covering his face then pried open his eyes as his sister call out the spell.

"[Blinding Flare]."

Blazing light assaulted the sleeping boy's eye. There was indeed a reaction, however it was more sever than they had expected.

"Gaaaah!!! My eye, it burns!"

The boy rolled in pain and fell off the bed headfirst hitting it on the floor in the process. He continued to roll in agony tears brimming in his eyes for quite a while. When he had finally recovered, filled with murderous intent he scanned the vicinity for the culprit and his eyes met the twins.

"Seraphina, Angelo! the hell was that for!? I could've gone blind."

The twin were frozen in place, they had obviously committed the mistake. Tears were now starting to form on Phina's eyes.

"Uuu...we didn't mean to do harm. W..we were just trying to wake you up."

"B..brother Akatriel...p..please don't scold Phina, it was my idea in the first place."

Hearing the twins did it without such ill intent. Akatriel wiped of the beads of moisture that had accumulated in his eyes and tried to calm himself. If he thought about it deeply, he should also be at fault for not properly orienting the two about the spell. All the magics he had taught them so far were supportive spells like heal and purification. It won't be a surprise if they had treated the disabling spell [Blinding Flare] as also a support type.

"(sign)...Most the spells I have taught you were means to aid your comrades. However the one you had just used aims to do the opposite. From now on promise me you would only use that when you or your friends are in danger."

The twins obediently nodded.

"Good. Now enough with those solemn faces, go ahead and have your breakfast. I'll just take a bath and catch up with you."

"Okay."

"Take your time brother."

Warily the pair inched toward the exit. Before the could leave the room a thought came to Akatriel. "Didn't I locked the door from the inside last night. How did they got in?"

He immediately inspected the door and found the reason. The doorknob was lying on the floor, to the part of the door where it should have been attached was a hole. Such a coincidence it is that the damage was quite similar to what the second spell he had taught them yesterday.

Blood vessels bulged on his forehead. Before he could issue another sermon, the two speed pass his side running downstairs.

"Aah!!!"

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

"Eep!!!"

"You ruffians! Who told you to use [Piercing Light] this way. Get back here you two!" Akatriel yelled out in frustration at the escaping duo.

After finishing his bath, Akatriel headed downstairs and sullenly joined the family's breakfast. His head was still hurting from the fall and a lump could be seen on his forehead.

"Come on Akatriel, its not something [Restoration] spell cannot repair. Cut your siblings some slack." With a soothing tone, Agatha Godsworn calmed his son while massaging the lump.

Agatha Godsworn a woman now on her early thirties and caring and dedicated mother of three. She is currently working in the capital's Round Table Academy as a Teacher in Advanced Holy Magics.

"(sigh)...I'm not angry mom...I'm just a bit disappointed they broke my door with the magic I've taught them myself."

"Hahaha...kids will be kids son, as their elder brother you've got to have some more patience." Kyle said as he was wolfing upon a slab of stake. His big built and unshaven face making him look like a papa bear lecturing his cub.

Kyle Godsworn. Despite being a Nephilim, he was assigned as the capital army's commander-in-chief by the end of the second war with the Worldeaters in N.E. 711. This was after the avalonians witness how he slaughtered hundreds of Worldeaters during the Siege of Gwalchmai Kingdom while protecting the house where his wife was giving birth.

"Your father's right. If your grumpy all the time you'll get wrinkles. Pair it with your gray hair you'll be a real grandpa in no time at all."

A pair of childish giggles.

"A grandpa." Phina innocently echoed the remarked.

"Yeah, an odd-eyed grandpa." Angelo agreed.

The whole household was filled with laughter.

A nephilim's hair should be pure white or black depending on their bloodline. However since Akatriel's blood was the mix of both, he has somehow acquired a hair having the blend of both colors. Also, due to some event that happened 5 years ago his right eye that was originally azure had changed into an amethyst hue. His looks was weird enough that his family began to tease him odd-eyed grandpa for fun. Due to the circumstance he was also often mistaken as an Avalonian since the race possess the said heterochromic traits.

"Hey stop that! Its not my fault my hair looks gray. And don't you try to change the subject you brats."

Remembering their crime, the pair quieted down and hung their heads.

"Jokes aside, your brother has a point. Magic isn't something you should carelessly use. So...as a punishment in order for you to learn from your mistake, you are suspended from your magic lessons with your brother. You will be only able to attend sessions with him again once you learn how to use [Restoration] spell and repair the door. On your own of course. I think that would enough of a punishment."

"Fair enough. That will do." Akatriel agreed.

"Awww...dad that's too harsh." The twins protested in unison.

"That decision is final. Now come on and finish your breakfast. You're going to be late for the opening ceremony."

"(Moan)...brother please forgive us. We won't do it again." Both pleaded with moist eyes.

(Ugh...how could I resist these cute fiends.) The thought materialized in Akatriel mind. (No. no. no. I have to be stern.)

"I won't be swayed, you will receive the punishment father issued."

Their tears were now in the verge of falling.

"But, if you manage to complete the task I might teach you a highly advanced spell." (ugh...that's it I can't resist them.)

Their expressions rapidly headed into an opposite direction.

"Really. You would?"

"What kind of spell? Is it the one you use to transform?

"Uhm...not quite but close to that."

"Yay!" They happily cheered together.

Regaining their enthusiasm the finished of their breakfast and delivers them to the washroom. Agatha followed behind them.

"Despite that stern face of yours, you really like to spoil your siblings. If only your true parents could see you today, they would surely be proud to have such a loving son."

"May they be my cousins or sibling. I would still treat them as real brother and sister, there's no changing that. Besides those two are geniuses, nothings bad if I spoil them a little. What they learn from me in advance could absolutely help them in the future."

"Hehe. What was the point of my worry all this time. Wait, what was the spell your planning to teach them?"

"[Symbolic Summoning]."

"Hey. Aren't you not pushing it to far?."

"Nah. I'll just replace it with something easier if they fail. But even I was able to do it when I was for. If I could so can they."

"Fine, do as you like. Just to take well care of them while doing it."

Both father and son finished up their plate. After cleaning up everything they the whole family left their home for school and work.

And thus, another peaceful morning the Godsworn's household was completed.
