Will found it very odd the ay Shara had been so secretive with him, she had basically been a mom to will in the days of his youth. His parents had died when he was very young, his mom died during childbirth, and his father died while fighting a mighty beast. Everyone respected will out of a mutual understanding that his father was a great warrior who saved the town. He didn't really talk about it much because he loved his father dearly and just thinking about him made him feel very poignant and get all teary eyed.
Though will hadn't time to think about that he was very confused about what had just happened earlier at the smithy. Why couldn't he remember.
"Think Will think." He muttered to himself. His brain hurt just from thinking about it.
He didn't bother going to work the next day. He knew he wasn't required to go because he had pulled his weight of the 200 swords, but he was having second thoughts about making them. Could Shara be part of something will didn't know about. Well he would like to think not.
With his time off he decided to look more into the mysterious hooded figure. The road he had seen this woman go down was a road he would usually not venture to, for this road leads to the place of the beasts. Nobody has ever seen one let alone interacted with one and survive through their mighty blows.
As the day grew darker the path got smaller and Will started noticing the smallest sounds and visions. Eventually he came to a camp, he couldn't help but look, and sure enough it was the same woman as he had seen in the village earlier that day. Will wasn't quite sure what was going on here, why would anyone camp alone in the middle of the woods, with no protection right next to the border of beasts and men.
Slinking by, Will could not avoid the odd sense of being watched by someone... or some thing. As he got closer, he noticed something on a boulder that at first appeared to be a smaller stone no larger than Will's hand. Now will would not usually stop for a random stone lying on a rock but for whatever reason he picked it up, maybe for defense. But as he picked it up the stone seemed to morph into some kind of scale.
A hand appeared on will's shoulder startling him. In the same deep voice he heard in the smithy, it spoke.
"You are a clever one... you can sense it was there..." Will, not daring to turn around, was struck with terror as the hand on his shoulder slowly turned into a paw then a talon, then a claw.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"You know who I am yes?" Said the voice again.
"I s s suppose... you the w w woman from the... smithy!" Will had the same look on his face as Shara did when he had walked into the shop.
Slowly will turned around to find no woman, in astonishment there was a full size dragon with his claw on Will's shoulder.
"I will let you live... because you are the one the prophecy speaks of. The boy who can sense a beasts presence, is the boy who will put an end to the eternal war. The beasts who defy him, will exist no longer, no more." It recited."Now run will, go home, some others of my kind are not too exited about the prophecy, if they see you they will rip you to shreds bit by bit in the most painful way possible, RUN!"
Will ran, he soon noticed that there was something in his pocket keeping him from running faster. As he reached for it he noticed a radiating cold aura coming from the item. He knew exactly what it was, it was the scale he has found on the rock, as soon as he grabbed it to look at it, it shrank and morphed to look like a patch of skin.
As soon as he got home got home his curiosity took over and he could not help himself. He pressed it up against his door, it grew to match one small portion of the door.
"This must have been how the dragon had appeared as a woman." Will thought to himself.
The scale would change into anything it touches, size, shape, feel. So with these covering your body, you could technically become anything... or anyone.
As he thought to himself while lying in bed, he realized he had one of the dragons scales, which meant that when the dragon morphed again, there would be one part of it's body that didn't match the texture of the rest. Yet the only thing he could remember from when the dragon first spoke was the feeling of being watched, like someone or something else was around.
The morning was bright, he acted usual, made breakfast, went to work. This time he expect something to be unusual at work today like another bizarre order. But he didn't expect Shara to not be there all together.
He quickly ran to the king's hall, sprinted past the guards, and knocked on the kings door.
"Yes William, what is it that brings you knocking on my door at seven in the morning, this better be important." Grumbled king Reymond.
"Very important... Two things... Shara is gone... and I found this..." He said out of breath.
"Where did you find this Will, tell me every detail." Responded Reymond
So that's exactly what will, did he told him about Shara's smithy and the woman being the dragon, and about how his memory seemed to be erased. One detail he did leave out was the prophecy, some
"Come will." Ordered king Reymond. "We have found a scale that looked like this once before, but instead of changing it's shape, it goes invisible to touch, litterally gone."
