My own little cell. 4 walls and a dark room.
Sometimes it's claustrophobic to be surrounded so closely by walls, but in this case, I have a computer so it's not so bad.
I'm a NEET, I haven't been employed and stopped my education after high school.
I support my lifestyle by taking art commissions from people online, this allows me to live in this small storage container with all the things I need to live.
Bed, food, water, and my computer.
I haven't actually left this container in quite a few months. I only open up to collect my post mates delivery.
I became a neet because of my dislike of conversation and hatred of everyday life. Everything's so boring nowadays, the closest you get to any action is on the news, that's why I became a neet.
Real life can't compare to Anime, it just can't. In anime there's superpowered heroes and villains duking it out, what does real life have that can compare. Real life is a shit anime.
"I wish life was more like anime," I say to no one imparticular.
Suddenly my room starts to shake. My figurine collection starts to fall off the wall. My computer goes black and the lights switch off.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" I shout in confusion as I duck for cover under my desk.
The shaking lasts about 10 seconds and then it stops.
Must have been a minor earthquake.
Getting out from under my desk I sit on my chair.
My computer screen is still black and the lights aren't coming back on.
Please don't tell me the electricity has broken.
Getting up from my chair I walk over to the large shutter of my storage container and open it.
Wow, it's nighttime I didn't even realize. Well, at least no one will see me in my dirty pajamas.
I think I can hear sounds from my right.
Looking right I see the most terrifying sight of my life.
Short, Green, long ears and menacing teeth.
A fucking goblin.
"WHAHHAHA." I scream in fright.
The goblin turned towards me and yelled.
The little goblin then ran at me with murderous intent in his eyes.
The goblin was a stone through away from me when I came back to reality and ran back into my container.
The goblin was just about to grab me when I successfully shut and locked the container shutter.
"What the fuck!" I shout in shock.

My mind rattled as I thought about what had just happened.
Short green and vicious looking there was no other way to think about it.
It could be a dwarf pulling a trick on me but that was unlikely and would require some seriously good prosthetics to be accurate.
So what happened? Was it that earthquake before?
Is this just like all those novels I've read where magic is introduced and the apocalypse incuses. Well shit. I'm not exactly number one on the most likely to survive list in the case of the apocalypse.
Scrawny bordering malnourished would be my body type and my only experience in combat is from watching anime and games.
But do I have to be physically strong? Don't all the novels I've read have one thing in common, magic.
Perhaps now that goblins exist I could tap into this elusive thing called magic.
But how?
I need to come up with a solution quickly because I only have limited amounts of food and water in my room, so I'm going to need a way to kill anything I might encounter outside.
I could make some makeshift weapons however that would be hard to do with my barren room.
If only the internet was up I could look up various methods of magic.
As soon as I said that my computer booted up.
Shocked, I make my way over to my computer and sit down.
As soon as I sit down a large Pink circle appears on my black screen.
The circle then starts to move in a clockwise direction.
Is something loading?

What in the world is this?
I look down at my pale hand and bring it up to the screen.
[Loading please do not remove your hand.]

I slowly remove my hand from the spinning pink circle and just as I did that it spat out a thin book.
Just as suddenly as the pink circle came it had gone. My computer completely went to black and despite numerous attempts to turn it back on nothing happened.
I looked at the strange book that my computer had just spat out.
Rune mastery 101 was written in big white letters on a thin black book.
This must be that magic I was talking about.
Awesome. I was going to be so badass.
Full of jovial excitement, I only feel when I'm about to watch an anime, I reach down and open the book.
All the pages bar one where blank and kind of made me disappointed at first, however, I figure the book will reveal more once I master the first page.
The page went like this:
Before you start rune mastery you must first become acquainted with your Magic.
Everything is made of magic however it is most concentrated in the blood, this is why many rune masters use there own or someone else's blood when drawing runes. However, blood runes will be covered in a later entry.
The way we call forth are magic depends on our affinity: Creators call it from there hearts, transfers call it from the air, controllers call it from there souls and effectors call it from there minds. Your affinity loosely comes from your personality and as runemaster is heavily effector centric most runemasters have strong minds.
Once you have determined your affinity simply focus on calling the magic from your affinities area, this will soon become second nature. Once you have that magic you will apply it by drawing a rune this will then give an effect to the object the rune is placed on.
The beginner rune is shown below, it is the rune for a simple spike trap.
Also on the page was the drawing of a very simplistic rune.
That seems very complicated and it's only the first page! Call forth my magic? What does that even entail?
I guess I should close my eyes and try and focus on my mind?
And so I sit on my chair trying to envision my mind, soon I began to feel as if there was a cloud hanging somewhere in my skull. This surreal feeling only lasted briefly as the cloud disappeared when I lost focus.
Focusing my mind I once again envision the cloud, I then try to will the cloud out of my mind and into the pen on my desk.
The prosses was incredibly hard due to my focus being broken by stray thoughts and the cloud retreating into my mind. However, eventually, I was able to get the cloud to my pen.
Then I began to copy the symbol from the book as best I could, my art skills helped me achieve this quite easily.
When the symbol was finished I carefully picked up the piece of paper it was on and placed it on the ground.
'Spike trap' Sounds dangerous.
I pick up an empty bottle and roll it onto the symbol.
The bottle slowly rolls onto the paper and as soon as it touches the symbol a large spike shoots out from the ground piercing the bottle.
"Oh shit!" I shout in amazement.
I'm a fuckin' wizard! So cool!
My eyebrows lift in realization and a large smile comes to my face.
Quickly I get a few more pieces of paper and draw up 2 more runes.
However, just as I finish the second rune I feel incredibly sleepy for some odd reason.
