I ran towards the goblins, watching as they growled and gripped their weapons tighter. A few arrows brushed past my face. Ah, almost forgot. I turned around and ran back towards the group. Their expressions first showed confusion, then contempt, then shock as I grabbed one of the gunmen by the hair and slammed his head into the ground, knocking him out. I did the same to the other two before grabbing a gun. How stupid of me. I was so caught up in my joy that I forgot about the guns. What the hell.
After that, it was pretty straightforward and kind of anticlimactic. Two more people, a man and a woman both dressed in a business suit, picked up a weapon and joined me. We shot down goblin after goblin- each one letting loose an orb of dark energy that would enter the body of whoever landed the killing shot, strengthening it. The goblins couldn't come close to our group. As the slaughter wore on, I can feel my adrenaline simply disappear. This isn't fun. When there were only five left, I signaled for them to stop. I walked towards the goblins- all warriors. They shrank back a little in fear. Then they snarled and one of them rushed towards me. I punted the little midget right back into another advancing goblin throwing them both off their feet. I heard a few bones crack and their healthbars went down about twenty-five and ten percent respectively. This is another perplexing thing that doesn't fit into normal RPGs. There's no "hit points" in the healthbar. Instead, it goes by percentages. I guess that this makes sense. I mean, if people could walk around fine as day with a spear through their head because they have too many hit points...that would make for a very fun Halloween. Goddamnit. Aren't there like any actual stats at all?
Unique Stats Mental Fortitude: 82 Charisma: 5 Law Resistance: 14 Luck: 100
Shit. Distracted, I narrowly missed being skewered on a rusty sword. I managed to avoid that unpleasant fate but my left hip suffered a glancing blow. Refocusing on the battle, I twirled clockwise as I crouched down while stretching out my right leg, performing a back sweep. I managed to trip two of them while the third- a bit smarter- jumped. Not stopping my angular momentum, I also jumped, spinning another circle in the air and slamming the back of my heel into the goblin's head. The thing flew a few feet while squealing a bunch of gibberish. Honestly, it was kind of funny.
By this time, the first two goblins managed to get up. I mentally applauded their efforts while I picked up one of their fallen brethren and chucked him at them. They fell down again. I picked up a shortsword and ran it through the last remaining goblin in my vicinity, reaping his life. I looked around. The rest of the goblins were all under thirty percent and were disabled physically in some manner or other. I systematically went around finishing them off. As soon as I killed the last one, a bunch of bell-like sounds rang through my head and a flood of notifications swarmed in.

Sitting down, I talked to Silver. Hey Silver. You can see these blue boxes in my mind right?
Well, you gotta give me permission...
Permission granted. Check out that last one. Is this normal?
...Huh...HUUHHHH?! What the sh-
Guess not.
Oh wait a sec...I think I can see where the system is coming from. Administrators are gods. And since gods have infinite lifespans, they tend to pick up on a bunch of random skillsets. Before they know it, they're polymaths, essentially abolishing the limitation that only allows them to have one class. Gold believes that you are a true god and deemed it unnecessary to put this limitation in place. You're pretty lucky. Usually, the gods pick up new classes by imitating the class skills and stuff. They don't really receive the bonuses in stats that come with the actual classes. With you, however, it's very different. You could literally stack up on all the bonuses from pretty much an infinite number of classes. Anyway, hurry and agree!
I mentally pressed the "Y" option.
Juggernaut has been applied. Health L+1, Stamina L+1, Recovery rate +100% Body Constitution: Grade D, LVL 5 The skin becomes metal, the muscle density increases immensely. Skills gained: Heavy Strike, Unstoppable Charge, Tremor
I clenched my fist, feeling the difference in strength. I grabbed a shortsword by the blade and repeated the action, watching as the metal was crushed into pieces in my hand. The act didn't even leave a mark on my skin. Wow, this is certainly an extreme increase in power. I looked at the skills.
Heavy Strike (Active)(Beginner) LVL 0 Your next attack will do 20% more damage. Costs stamina and spirit.
Unstoppable Charge (Active)(Beginner) LVL 0 You charge along a straight line. Speed +30%. Enemies will be knocked away. Going off the straight line will cancel the skill. Costs stamina and spirit.
Tremor (Toggle Passive)(Beginner) LVL 0 You call upon the lesser Law of gravity. Everything in a five meter radius around caster will experience three times the current force of gravity including caster. Costs stamina and spirit.
I looked over towards the group. "Did you all accept the Juggernaut class?" A few of them murmured 'yes' while the rest nodded. A high school student in the back, near my age- shouted out with excitement, "Hell yea. My body constitution went from Grade F, LVL 6 to E, LVL 2!" This prompted a few more people to shout out their gains. I listen with interest. It appears that none of the other people even came close to matching my class rework. Why is that?

That's probably due to your luck stat. With you being the Administrator and all, Gold will spare no expense in increasing your chances to gain items or get good rerolls of stats or any other random activity. These class bestowments are similarly randomized with the benefits being different for everybody. Your luck stat ensured that you got the most out of it.
Basically, I'm cheating.
Yea, pretty much.
I sighed. So? Why is the System designed this way? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to the System's goal if it simply gave the best to every player?
Nope. Everything requires energy. The System needs energy to give out the loot and other benefits. By randomizing this stuff, the System can save on energy while also testing the player's fate. A good soldier not only needs strength but a certain level of luck as well.
Huh. I see. You keep saying that the System is a training camp for soldiers. Where are these soldiers? And what's this "Unknown" you are fighting against?
Most soldiers are stationed at the Outer Needles. A few of them are scattered throughout the internal lattice in case any portals spawn inside though it's unlikely. There's usually two or three in every inner needle. Except the center one. No soldiers are allowed there. Speaking of which, it's very strange that this needle doesn't have any. Hmm, this definitely can't be the Center Needle since the Throne is missing and I can't sense the Domain Guardian's aura. But still, no soldiers, not even any Ascendants. Is this universe really that young? Too strange. Really...
I interrupted Silver's musings. And the "Unknown"?
Ah yes, the Unknown. This is what the soldiers are being trained to fight against. They're a major pain in the ass. The gods/administrators/whatever think that the Unknown are the minions of Chaos. Pfft. Like Chaos can create anything. Oh well. Anyhow, the Unknown try to corrupt the needles which- as you probably guessed- are the linchpins of Order. Where they stand, Chaos is calmed to Order, making Creation possible. Usually, the Unknown are pretty harmless. I mean, sure their strength is pretty great but it's definitely not enough to actually destroy a needle's universe. I have no idea how it happened to me... Hmmm, there were the usual critters...then there was that thing in the end...a blob of darkness...a new Unknown?...what was that?
I ignored the rest of Silver's thoughts. This stuff is complicated. Oh right. How do the Unknown even "destroy" an universe?
Well, a god and a bunch of its Ascendant-level monsters and other strong beings come through and attempt to disrupt the target needle's Laws. Then they send their minions at any lifeforms that are capable of Sense and cultivation. That's it. I mean, some strategies are involved but that's the gist of it. Once the realm is unstable enough, the Unknown try attacking the needle itself. If they manage to fully sever its connection to its realm and god, they'll open a portal and take the needle with them. The realm without the needle is now forced to stand against the full force of Chaos. Entropy does the rest and the universe vanishes. Like I said, this doesn't happen often though.
I nodded at the information. Oh well, it's not my problem. Yet. I stood up. A large map filled my mind. Geography really was reshuffled. There were markers on the map with level ranges placed on them. The goblin tunnel network was the closest and towards the west with the goblin camp indicated deep within. The kobold area was a bunch of tunnels to the northeast with their camp towards the edge of the map. The map was also divided into three horizontal areas. The bottom piece where we are is where rabid dogs roam. Lizardmen can be found in the middle piece and minotaur are in the last piece. A red star marked a cavern at the very north of the map indicating the position of the tunnel dweller. The map gave no indication to where the ??? monster can be found, not that I plan on actually fighting it. How much time do we have for this event?
You must slay the tunnel dweller to advance to stage 3.
I looked at the group. "Everyone listen up. We have to kill the Tunnel Dweller to advance apparently. I do not know how strong this thing is, but we'll probably have to work together to kill it. And the other bosses. For now, we should form parties of five or six and grind on these monsters." There were a few nods then some dick spoke up. "Who made you the leader." I rubbed my head. Of course. Every single goddamn situation with a group. One person gives a suggestion, and there will always be that one annoying person who will question that decision. "Nobody." I answered. "I was merely giving a suggestion. You do you. As for me, I'm gonna go directly towards the lizardmen area. Anyone who wants to join me, come come." The business suit man and woman stood up and walked towards me. I examined them closely. Both of them were Asian and they exuded an icy demeanor. The guy looked very classy with gold-rimmed glasses. He had semi-long hair, combed neatly and shining with luster. The woman had waist long hair and wore a dress suit with black stockings. They appeared to be in their early to mid-twenties. They looked awesome.
The rest of the people started shouting though. "Hey, the guns-". Oh right. I threw the gun in my hand at them and indicated that my new party members should also give one up. The complied, the woman choosing to give away hers. Now, is there a party interface?
Not in a party. Would you like to create one? Y/N
I selected yes.
Please name your party.
I shrugged and simply thought the Asians.
You have created the Asians. You can send invites mentally as long as you have their System name or they are in sight.
I looked at the other two. Uh, how do I do this? Invite them?
You have sent party invitations to Gareth and Lilith.
Gareth and Lilith have accepted the invite. Gareth and Lilith have joined the Asians.
the Asians Members: 3 Avalon (Leader) LVL 2, Juggernaut Gareth LVL 2, Juggernaut Lilith LVL 2, Juggernaut
It would be nice if I could see their status bars. Immediately, a few screens appeared in my mind, showing the health, stamina, and spirit bars of the other two underneath mine in the top left. Healthbar is red, stamina is yellow, and spirit is blue. I looked back at the rest of the people on the platform. They were bickering and forming their own groups. I turned around and walked off the platform and turned right. The previous scene of flames and scrap metal and burning corpses had disappeared. The usual subway walls had also vanished. It looked like a rough mining tunnel. I led my group deeper into its depths.
