“Watch out!” Kenny yelled, “he is flying down the right side!”
The black dragon came soaring down the right side of the cavernous space it called its lair, throwing fire all over the ground along the ground.
People moved, not all of them fast enough to avoid the fire. Silent screams left the bodies of those unable to escape the flames in time.
“God dammit!” kenny yelled. “I told you it was coming! Here he comes again, down the center.”
The dragon made another pass down the center of his lair, spewing flames forth. Catching another handful of people in its blistering breath. After it reached the end of its path it landed and came rushing at the remaining survivors of its horrible fire.
“Fucking shit.” kenny moaned. Watching the dragon rush at him. “I am so sick of this shit, this aint that fucking hard.” the dragon reached him, raised a claw and slashed through his chest, cleaving him in twain.
“Fuuuuck.” he yelled again, throwing his Virtual Reality headset onto his desk and leaning back into his chair. He took a deep breath, calmed himself down, leaned forward so his mouth was close to the Microphone of his headset and said “alright guys, i gotta run to the store, take 5 minutes, watch the boss mechanic videos and we will try this again.”

Kenny slipped on his shoes and headed down from his third floor apartment across the street and into the convenient store. Walking to the back of the store he grabbed himself a couple of drinks from the coolers, then grabbed a bag of flaming hot chex-mix from the shelves and headed up to the register to pay.
“Hey kenny, how goes the night?” the young man at the counter greeted him as he got there.
“Yo rick, could really use your help tonight. We just have too many random people who haven’t been in this dungeon yet.”
“Haha, sorry man. I tried to get the night off when they announced the patch to release Dragonsmith mines, But my bitch of a manager needed the time off for maternity leave.”
“Man, i know, and don’t be so hard on peggy, pregnancies can be tough. But i’m going to head home and bash my face against a wall trying to do this boss for another couple hours. Next time you can be there to help.”
“Take it easy Kenny, good luck with that.” rick laughed.
Kenny flipped him the finger and headed back out to the street. Pushed the crosswalk button and waited. Thinking about the fight and what he can do to push this group through it without wasting his entire night, he started crossing when the light turned green.
He barely saw the car, he was launched from the crosswalk into the middle of the street, and was gone before he hit the ground.
