Chapter 5 Stress of Chaos

Chapter 5 Stress of Chaos

Stepping outside, Nia felt the weight of her creation pressing down on her. The city was unrecognizable. Shadows crawled along the streets, alive and hungry for chaos. Fragments of her stories manifested everywhere the buildings from one tale collided with forests from another, creating a disjointed, surreal landscape. Her once beautiful city is pitched in darkness. The garden outside her home where she used to walk and even write sometimes is flooded with shadows . The plants in the garden with beautiful pink flowers has dried and died in the span of 30 minutes.

The sky above was a patchwork of colors, as if the fabric of reality itself was tearing apart bit by bit.

“We need to head east,” Eli said, gripping the hilt of his blade.

“East?”

“Toward the first story you ever wrote,” he explained. “That’s where the heart is likely to be.”

Nia’s stomach churned. Her first story. It had been a simple, hopeful tale about a kingdom ruled by a benevolent queen. But even that story had its darker moments wars, betrayals, heartbreak and a villain who had been far more dangerous than she’d intended.

As they moved through the chaotic streets, Nia couldn’t help but notice the faces of her creations. Some stared at her with anger, others with sorrow and some of them with haterade. They recognized her, the one who had given them life and then left them to rot and die.

A young girl with hollow eyes approached, her hands outstretched. “Why did you leave me in the dark?” I thought after all the darkness I faced in my like at the end i desiverd some happiness but as soon as my time of happiness came u lelf me she whispered.

Nia froze, guilt slicing through her like a knife.

“Don’t stop,” Eli said, pulling her along. “The past can’t be changed and i also cannot help us now.”
