“Damn. That wood is some sturdy shit.” I said after the disgusting feeling went away.
“Uh-huh. Most furniture is made from Hashirama trees.” Ino explained, still wide eyed from what she witnessed. I looked over at her and the hand still in a cast.
“Fuu, if you are still around, you are now dismissed.” I spoke in no certain direction.
“How you feeling?” I asked her gently as I approached her.
“Uhh. A bit shocked for sure, but otherwise fine.” She answered.
“You did very well. Even surprised me with the coated shuriken.” I said as I hugged her and patted her head. I waited for her shivering to calm down before I let go. She was probably horrified.
“Can you find Orochimaru-sama? I think we might need his help, if not Tsunade might do too, but preferably Orochimaru. I have to stay with Anko Sensei. I had to crane my neck to look into her glistening cyan eyes. She just nodded.
“Okay go. I will take care of Sensei.” I ordered and watched her leave. Then I turned my head towards the crumpled woman. A habit I did not need to keep since I had a Byakugan now. I started moving her around, straightening her limbs.
“Okay, Sensei. I got you. No worries.” I said gently, she was still unresponsive, but if she can hear me I hoped to calm her down. I put my arms under hers to drag her towards the living room couch.
“You might want to quit drinking after this eh?” I asked with a gentle smile. I placed her on her couch and crouched to be face level. Shifting my expression to a neutral serious I spoke.
“Listen Sensei. I may have… made a… big mess in your hallway.” Her eyes started moving, looking at me.
“Ooh, I see your eyes are responsive again. Seems like there is progress. Don’t worry I will keep you safe. At least until Orochimaru-sama comes to fix you up.”
“Perhaps I shouldn’t say this but, there is no way I would get another opportunity to do so without getting smacked. I definitely want you in my harem, Sensei. You should also probably know… I am not a nice man.” I said in a low tone.
It took approximately ten minutes before Ino and Oro came back. Luckily she had run into him outside the Hokage’s building. The man made a beeline towards the incapacitated woman. After a short examination he summoned a two headed snake. Each bit down on one wrist and he spoke in his raspy voice.
“She will be fine. The snake will help filter the drug, she should get most functions back by morning. The effects however might linger for a week or so, she probably will barely be able to walk.” He drawled, no longer concerned. Then turned his face toward me, with focused eyes he asked.
“What happened to the man in the hallway?” His words were snappier, no longer spoken in a lazy drawl.
I shrugged as I answered.
“I may have been able to weaponize my mental shield with my sharingan? At least I think that is what happened.” When Orochimaru’s snake eyes narrowed on me and he did not say anything I continued.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
“He reacted the same as the red headed man had. Screaming and laughing and clawing his eyes out, breaking his arm while flailing meaninglessly and ultimately bashed his own head against some very sturdy wood, managing to unalive himself. “ I shrugged again with a strained smile. I belatedly realised that may have been a bomb to drop on this conversation. Even Ino I think did not know about my Sharingan.
“Sharingan? Isn’t that something the Uchiha have?” She asked curiously.
“Kobayashi-kun here is neither an Uchiha nor a Hyuga. He is both. More than a decade ago there were some rumours about an exiled blind Uchiha and a Hyuga escapee. So you do indeed possess it and have managed to activate it? Show me.” Asked Orochimaru in his familiar laid back drawl. I did as asked and activated my Sharingan. Ino was awed and asked.
“That is so cool and pretty! What does it dooo? She cooed.
“What does it do indeed?” Orochimaru smirked.
“Well… It lets me see chakra like the Byakugan, but it doesn’t have the other vision boost. It is supposed to give me insight on my opponents letting me predict their movement from the minute muscle twitching that happens, but the Byakugan’s enhanced vision can also do that. It is also supposed to let me understand jutsu and learn them just by observing, something I have not been able to do. I assume because I only have one eye and it’s the eye of hypnotism and not the eye of insight and the copy ability I assume is related to the eye of insight.” I explained. It was not for Orochimaru’s benefit though, he probably knew all of this, but Ino might benefit from knowing that I have these abilities as my teammate.
“Not quite.” Orochimaru smiled devilishly. Ino and I both turned to him. Ino in curiosity and me in surprise. I was confident my explanation had been spot on, unless my memory was failing me.
“The textbook you recited refers to the two aspects of the Sharingan as separate aspects for easier understanding. I reckon the confusion stems from the wording used for “The eye” as a singular word, but in fact it refers to the Doujutsu as a whole and not a single eye. So any Sharingan is capable of both aspects. So be very careful to not get it plucked out of your cute little head. As it might be a desirable commodity for the enemy.” He dropped out of his teaching tone at the end. Seems this world's Oro is not only slightly more morally adjusted but also a talented teacher. The man demanded attention just by being in the room. He still was creepy though.
“Lastly, the hypnotism aspect you have not explained for the little mind reader here. It is an enhancement to almost all aspects of Genjutsu. All of this is expertise based of course, you don’t suddenly become a Genjutsu master by having a red eye. At the same time, there have been almost zero shinobi that could rival the Sharingan masters in terms of Genjutsu alone. It is known that a user of the Doujutsu can cast Genjutsu through his eyes, allowing him to catch his opponent by simply making eye contact. I have also known someone that could put a man under by simply pointing at him. It seems to me you simply lack the expertise. You need to improve your observation skills to be able to copy. “ He explained in teacher mode again.
“Any chance you can teach me some Genjutsu and seal work, Orochimaru-sama?” I asked hopefully, pulling my best puppy eye.
“Seal work?” He raised a questioning eyebrow.
“Sure, here is lesson one, observe.” He said as he walked towards the hallway where the body was. He pulled a small scroll from a back pocket and put both hands on it, clasping the scroll between his thumbs and hands. Then he stabbed the corpse with it, somehow piercing the armour and the flesh, all the way until the scroll disappeared completely into the man’s chest. Then he made the sign of confrontation to activate the seal and all the blood and the corpse itself flowed into itself where the scroll was. Just like that the hallway was clean again.
I was indeed observing and saw. Yet his chakra barely even fluctuated and only around his fingers. I got nothing.
“What I am curious about though, is how this came to be.I’ve been helping Anko’s resistance against poisons since she was ten. People can only get so far, yet it would take another specialist to affect her with this much precision.” Orochimaru thought out loud after his little demonstration.
“I think she was dosed when drinking at the tavern. We spotted her being dragged by the dead man.” Ino chimed in. That did indeed not bode well, for our teacher to not be able to watch her own drink. Then again, she was probably in a familiar environment surrounded with known faces. Orochimaru narrowed his eyes at Anko.
“It seems… She might need some training from someone else. I never had issues with tempering my emotions. It is not something… I understand enough to instil in others. You two watch over her for the next week. I got places to be.” The snake Sannin said contemplatively and he left for his places to be.
“I guess we should get comfortable. Ohh yeah, Sensei, I might have promised Tenten to have a joint training session with her team.” Her eyes were following me and she showed no reaction. I was certain I would earn a smack for that one, she did not seem agitated in any way though. Confused for a moment I continued to observe her, then it dawned on me.
“Tenten is Might Guy’s student.” That did pull out a reaction. Her eyes went wide. The only gesture she could articulate at the moment, most likely she would do much more. Precisely why I chose this moment to tell her. This was probably worth at least a few smacks on the tally. Hopefully she would have calmed down by the time she got her strength back.
We stood watch for the couple of hours. Watching Anko slowly get more and more control of her own face I hoped she would forget about the smacking she owes me. Somehow I felt that was not the case, with each tongue swish, eyebrow rise and cheek puffing she got better and better. She still could not move her body at all. At some point in the night she started speaking.
“Ahh, I got my voice back.” She whispered in a very raspy and dry voice, barely audible in the silence of the night. She looked at me, still not able to move her head. Her glare demanded attention.
“Thanks for saving… my life. I am… still kicking… your ass as soon as I can.” She mouthed out.
