The sparring session

"Fuck, I'm tired..."

I removed my dress as I walked inside my bathroom. It was already evening when I returned back from my school.

"I should have left soon...sigh..."

I lazily walked to the bathtub and turned on the tap.

*Pssshhhh*

The bathtub was filled within no time and I submerged myself in the cold water.

Leaning against the wall of the bathtub, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before falling asleep.

Half an hour later, my eyes twitched as I woke up. My whole body was feeling heavier if I had a heavy weight attached to me.

I opened my eyes but all I could see was darkness. I rubbed my eyes, barely lifting my hands but the darkness still didn’t fade away.

“W- what’s going on?”

I forcefully straightened my body as I lifted myself up and looked around.

There was nothing…nothing at all, it was just darkness. It was completely silent and I was starting to get anxious.

“Oh, you finally woke up?”

A melodious voice reverberated through the darkness and a cold shrill ran through my spine.

“Who’s there?” I clutched my chest tightly but my heart was acting like it would jump out of the ribcage at any given moment.

“You can call me God.” The voice said, “And welcome to the samshara, my child.”

“The what?” I spoke in disbelief, the whole situation felt so stupid to me that it was too ridiculous for me to even dismiss it as a dream.

“The samsara: the void of reincarnation”

A golden ball appeared in front of me, radiating a bright yellow light but it wasn’t uncomfortable to look at. It had a calm aura surrounding it, slowly washing away my nervousness.

“And this isn’t a dream. It might be difficult to believe but you’re dead.”

“I’M WHAT?!!” I exclaimed loudly.

“Dead, unalive, your body has now ceased to function.”

‘I know what being dead means!’, is what I wanted to scream but I kept my mouth shut because if the being in front of me was really God, I didn’t want to do anything stupid.

“I see…”

For ten minutes, I just stared lifelessly at the golden ball, trying to take everything in but it was barely working as I didn’t know what to say.

‘Am I going to hell now?’

“Now that you know your situation, let’s talk about your reincarnation!” The voice said in an excited tone.

“So let me get this straight.”

The golden ball, aka the self proclaimed god spoke as it wrote in a notepad which it took out from god knows where,

“You want to reincarnate in Naruto, with the powers of Gojo Satoru and Ryomen Sukuna.”

Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.

“Well since I can’t choose the world, Yes.” I nodded.

“Aren’t you getting a bit greedy here?”

“Huuh? I’m greedy? You’re the one who’s just giving me these weak choices saying the others will destroy the ‘balance’! And I’m getting greedy?”

Veins popped in my forehead, as I yelled. It was stupid to shout at ‘God’ but I couldn’t care less at that moment. Not after I heard that it was him who killed me by mistake!

Imagine you were living a good life and you died all of a sudden to find out that you’re going to get thrown into a world where nothing is going right!!

“Geez, no need to get angry.” The voice said making the notebook disappear. “Sigh…since it was a mistake on my part, I’ll allow it.”

“Enjoy your new life then”

The yellow light illuminated the whole surrounding, blinding me in the process before I lost my consciousness.

Six months later…

The students of the Konoha Academy were scattered in the field making a wide circle. Iruka was in the middle in his usual shinobi outfit, his hair tied in a ponytail, looking at the list of students in his hands.

“Satoru Gojo and Sasuke Uchiha, come forward!”

A black haired boy with a slightly blue tint walked into the circle. He was wearing a navy blue, short-sleeved shirt with a high collar and a pair of white shorts.

Sasuke held a Kunai in his right hand, his eyes held the same apathetic gaze as always as he looked for Satoru with cold eyes.

“Sasuke-kun!!”

Some of the girls were already cheering with stars in their eyes.

“Satoru?”

Iruka called again because he didn’t see Satoru around.

“Here, sensei~”

Iruka turned around to see a boy with snow-white hair spiked upwards due to his blindfold, nonchalantly entering the circle with his hands in his pocket. He was wearing a baggy red hoodie with high cuffed black pants.

Iruka’s eyes twitched, “What were you doing?”

“The crowd was too dense, you know?” Satoru said with a grin as he pointed his thumb back at the girls staring at him with heart shaped eyes.

“Of course it was…” Iruka sighed.

It wasn’t a new thing, the girls of the academy were literally divided into two due to Sasuke and Satoru. Half of them were fangirling for Satoru while the others were cheering for Sasuke.

“Silence!” Iruka exclaimed and everyone went quiet.

“This is the final sparring session before you graduate. Although you’re allowed to use weapons, try to subjugate each other rather than cause lethal harm. Understood?”

Both of them nodded in affirmative and Iruka jumped backwards leaving the circle.

“Now, fight!”

As soon as the words escaped Iruka’s mouth, Sasuke and Satoru jumped backwards creating enough space between them.

Sasuke was nervous considering that this wasn't the first time the two of them fought and he had lost all of the time. He considered himself to be talented but Satoru was a whole other monster. That was the reason although Satoru was standing bare handed he didn't think for a second that he was underestimating him.

Without warning, Sasuke charged forward, his speed was impressive for someone of his age. He slashed his kunai making an arc, aiming for a quick decisive strike but just as the kunai was about to reach Satoru, he sidestepped with blinding speed.

Sasuke’s kunai met nothing but air. He spun on his heel, trying to predict Satoru’s next move. But Satoru was already behind him, launching a powerful punch aimed at Sasuke’s back.

Sasuke barely had time to react, flipping forward to evade the attack. The force of Satoru's punch slammed into the ground sending dust flying into the air.

‘That was dangerous.’ Sasuke took a deep breath.

He narrowed his eyes and darted forward again, this time faking a strike to Satoru’s left side. As Satoru moved to block, Sasuke quickly changed direction, aiming a kick at Satoru’s midsection.

Satoru twisted his body to absorb the impact of the kick.

Sasuke’s foot connected with Satoru’s side, but instead of being thrown off balance, Satoru countered with a swift elbow aimed at Sasuke’s head.

*BAM!*

Sasuke couldn’t dodge at time. Just as he tilted back slightly, Satoru’s elbow struck his face with strong force sending him crashing to the ground.

“The fight is over!” Iruka declared, “Satoru wins!”

Sasuke stood up with great difficulty, his head was spinning round but he gritted his teeth and held himself up.

“Oops…” Satoru whispered, diverting his eyes.

“Kyaa! He's so cool!”

“Satoru!”

Iruka ignored others as he rushed to hold Sasuke who looked like he was going to fall down at any moment.

“Today’s class is over, everyone can go home!”

Iruka carried Sasuke on his back and hurried toward the medical ward and Satoru disappeared from the field.

“Phew, I nearly killed him.” Satoru sighed as he laid down on his bed, “I need to learn to control cursed energy properly…what a drag.”
