Chapter 13 - Explode

Fugaku quickly sized up the guards. The Jōnin, Ishida, was skilled in Wind and Water Release techniques. His two Chūnin underlings were Feicun, who had a careful nature and preferred Wind Release, and Mitsui, who was hot-headed and leaned toward Fire Release.

Handing a well-preserved document to Ishida, Fugaku said, "Last time we picked up supplies, Noda mentioned they were running low. I hope they haven’t all been used up."

"Not a chance," Ishida chuckled. "A new shipment arrived this morning. We’re fully stocked—even the kunai are fresh from the Land of Craftsmen, not some old leftovers."

Ishida inspected the document closely, then passed it to his assistants. "All clear. Mitsui, Feicun, go get the supplies on this list. Renga, Fukagi, stay here for a bit."

As they waited, Ishida engaged in small talk with the team. Fugaku observed his every move, noticing any slight changes in his expression. He saw Ishida’s eyes narrow as he glanced at the four disguised Chūnin. Fugaku realized Ishida might be sensing something odd—time was running out.

With a quick look, Fugaku signaled his team, and they instantly understood: they’d been found out and had to act fast. "Ishida!" Fugaku called sharply.

Ishida turned, only to meet Fugaku’s intense, spinning three-tomoe Sharingan. For a moment, Ishida was frozen, trapped in the illusion Fugaku cast.

The team acted immediately—five kunai struck Ishida from different angles, the pain snapping him out of the genjutsu. Realizing it was an ambush, Ishida tried to warn his allies but was silenced as Fugaku’s kunai sliced his throat.

Dayo and Sato swiftly dragged Ishida’s lifeless body into a dark corner, tucking it out of sight. The rain outside muffled any sounds, making it unlikely anyone would hear.

Fugaku signaled to Ning, who activated his Byakugan. Ning’s eyes sharpened, veins bulging around them as he scanned the warehouse tent’s interior with his enhanced vision. "There’s a warning trap just inside the entrance," he whispered to Fugaku. "It’ll alert nearby ninja if anyone without permision enters."

Fugaku nodded, then motioned for Ning to play along with their ruse. Disguised as Ishida, Ning grumbled loudly, "Those two are taking forever with the supplies. I’ll go check on them. Wait here, Renga."

The irritation in Ning’s voice, mirroring Ishida’s usual tone, added a convincing layer to the disguise as he moved toward the tent.

Ning entered the warehouse tent, Fugaku following close behind with his Sharingan active to spot threats. Feicun, one of the Chūnin inside, turned around, suspicious of the unusual chatter.

He knew Ishida didn’t talk much and only engaged in short conversations. Realizing something was off, Feicun moved toward the entrance to raise an alarm. As soon as Feicun’s eyes met Fugaku’s, Fugaku activated a Sharingan-based genjutsu, trapping him in an illusion before he could react.

Meanwhile, Ning moved swiftly to Mitsui, the other Chūnin, and cut his throat in one fluid motion, blood splattering onto the nearby shelves. With the two Chūnin down, Fugaku took a moment to survey the supplies in the warehouse.

Shelves were filled with fresh kunai, shuriken, and essential equipment. He moved deeper, spotting small bags of military ration pills and large sacks of food supplies used for long campaigns.

In another section, he found a smaller storage room protected by a seal. Fugaku suspected it held sensitive materials—maybe explosive tags or even poisons for the Sunagakure puppet masters.

The rest of the team entered the warehouse once the guards were down. "Ning, keep watch at the entrance. The other two Jōnin could come by for patrol at any moment. The rest of you, plant explosive tags around the tent as quickly as possible," Fugaku ordered. "Dayo, work on breaking that seal."

"Yes, Captain," Dayo replied, examining the seal, his fingers tracing over its symbols.

The Land of Fire and the Land of Whirlpools, thanks to the Uzumaki and Senju clans, were renowned for their advanced sealing techniques. Although Sand’s seals were simpler, they still needed to be handled with care.

After a few moments, Dayo finished his analysis. "This seal is fairly basic. I should be able to break it quickly. Give me just a moment."

He formed a series of hand seals and pressed his hand against the tent. "Release!" he commanded, infusing his chakra into the seal.

The symbols around the storage area shimmered and then faded away. "Good work," Fugaku said with a nod. "Let’s see what they thought was important enough to seal."

Entering the small storage area, they found stacks of explosive tags, containers of puppet poisons, and a few other weapons specialized for Sunagakure elite forces.

It was a jackpot of sabotage materials. Without delay, Fugaku signaled to his team. "Plant the explosive tags here and around the main supplies. We’ll set them off as soon as we’re out of the base. Remember, we have less than a minute to finish this and escape before the patrols notice."

With quick precision, the team placed explosive tags around key areas, setting the supplies for a chain reaction of destruction. As they completed the setup, they left the warehouse.

Fugaku formed quick hand seals, and his chest swelled as he took a deep breath.

"Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!"

A blazing fire shot from his mouth, igniting the stacks of grain bags. The flames spread quickly. "Switch back to your disguises and move out," Fugaku ordered, his voice firm but calm. "If we run into anyone, avoid confrontation—our priority is to escape, not to fight."

The team transformed back into their Sunagakure disguises and slipped out of the warehouse tent, heading for their planned escape route.

As they moved, a faint glow flickered from the tent, lighting up the night. Raindrops sizzled as they hit the spreading flames, creating thick clouds of steam. The fire drew the attention of nearby Sunagakure ninja, and the alarm blared throughout the base. Groups of Sunagakure ninja emerged from different tents, rushing to the warehouse to investigate.
