*New Message*
Eiko, while still trying to de-bug her slow RAM issue, noticed her PAI (Personal Artificial Intelligence) had put a solid text block on her interface. Speaking softly she breathed "Coco, play message."
"Hey me" she heard herself say "letting you know your search has picked found a match"
'what?'Eiko though to herself. She stopped messing with her laptop and tilted her head slightly. 'What in the hell is this for? I have no active searches going... And why did I record myself? There is...' she closed her eyes, practicing her memory techniques. She muttered to the air for a minute, doggedly trying to find the "why" thought. Doing her best to stim her brain till it came up with something, with no luck. After failing to recall why she had made the message, she spoke while making no outward sound. "Coco, what was it that I had searched?" she subvocalized to her PAI.
An even softer, smooth, like chocolate voice enter directly into her mind, "You set a search for lone cargo hold traveling to the city within a 3 day arrival."
"Mmmm," Eiko loved Coco's voice. She came across Coco's voice in a pay app. So much better then the older preset voice the PAI had when it was plugged in. It sounded like genuine, kind white-trash. After a day's search on the net, Eiko found the chocolate delight. Bought the voice module before it finish it's preprogrammed line. Best choice she ever made.
Eiko hummed again, Coco voice will get her to do that a lot. 'I remember that,' the moment finally coming to the front of her mind. It was a silly get rich quick thought she had 2 weeks ago. Hacked a satellite over east side of the city for a live feed of the area, see if anyone dumb was out and about. She also remembered pressing delete and removing the search. So the hell did she search? No clue, but the if it found something... "Show me the result Coco"
Eiko sees an overlay on her interface with mountain A zoomed in area of the map shows her what looks like a partly sunken door in the ground. "The search has shown a bunker door fully intact. There seems to be no further movement outside the door for the past 2 years. There are no public achieves that show the bunker as own or even there. High chance there is tech to be found."
'What? Bunk door? That doesn't...' Now Eiko was really confused. "Why bunk door? Didn't you say this was a cargo search?"
"Yes, the search engine was for a lone cargo hold traveling to the city with a 3 day arrival."
'Damn it,' Eiko was suppose to set an alternate response pattern for repeat answers months ago. She keep pushing it off because she doesn't normally repeat herself. "Coco, what was the search parameter's for the cargo door. Also, after I have my RAM back to full speed, chance it's reminder for to 'fix Coco's repeat responses"
*New Message* "You made an additional search from the primary search in order to find other easy to obtain valuables."
Eiko stared blankly at the new message sign for a minute. "Play new message Coco"
Another text block pops up *fix Coco's repeat responses*
Eiko refocused her eyes form the interface, looking back to the computer infront of her, she can see the RAM running at full speed. Smack. Eiko's hand comes up to her face as she feels the pointlessly wasted 2 weeks of time and effort. 'why me...' she ask herself and the world, lamenting over her poor programming skills. Eiko feels like an idiot for all of 2 seconds, before I realize that it work. "By chrome and blood you found some loot?! Where! How far?"
"These are the coordinates," Coco says, a smaller map popping up to the top right of my vision with a squiggly line through it. "It is a 6 hour trip from your location."
"... I can't do 6 hours, my electric bike makes that forever." A gift from mom, when school started a few months ago to get her there and back, that Eiko begrudgingly accepted.
"Incorrect," Coco states "you have changed all travel parameters to the max speed of your electric bike"
Smacking her hand to her face again Eiko start to feel like a fool. 'Anything else I missed?' she asked herself. After a short review of the last few minutes Eiko realized that yes, she did. "Why did this search take 2 weeks. Why did you not state the 2 year indicator in the search parameter for the bunker but not the cargo truck?
"The search was done at the fasted speed possible for the 4 years of stored data that was retrieved from the hacked satellite. You did not have a 2 year search parameter for either." Coco's voice washes over Eiko gentle... as she mentally check out, quietly screaming into her hand for a while.
'Why me,' Eiko grumps. She knows her programming skills are lacking. Though, to be fair, she has only started practicing Programming a few weeks ago for school, much to her mother's delight. Eiko's Mom, Nexus, was a skill programmer and netrunner before she became corpo. While Eiko was growing up Nexus would try and make Eiko learn the skill with a good deal of success. That was until Eiko found out that one of her presents for turning 5 years old was her mom divorcing her father.
Her father, Haru Oba, was a minor boss within the Tyger Claws gang. When Eiko was 4, she was almost kidnapped by an upstart gang that wanted leverage over her father. At the time she was taken out to go shopping for cloths with a few of her fathers lackeys when the mercs tried to grab her. After the failed attempt her father brought her along to see the attack, capture and torturer of the gonks stupid enough to mess with the Tyger Claws gang. The showing made her respect and fear her father. So when Nexus wanted to kick Haru to the curb because her was a dangerous gangster.

When the divorce was complete and who would have custody over Eiko's life, the court ruled in favor of Nexus. Eiko was opposed and decided she wanted nothing to do with her mom. Life became very difficult for both of them. Despite the sass, yelling and everything else, Nexus put up with it... until she didn't. After a life time of online school, which Nexus though was ideal, she had been convinced by her co-workers that Eiko need a more personal touch to her education. Eiko, having never liked her education in the first place, decided she hated school and would skip it. Then for the first time, Nexus put her foot down.
How? No more allowance. If Eiko was a true gang member like her Father, it definitely wouldn't be a problem. Thing is, Eiko was only 13 and a half. Was it the end of the world if Eiko had no allowance, probably not, but it felt like it. Did Eiko's mom care, no. Did Eiko try to skip a moth of school, yes. Did Eiko's mom actually make Eiko's monthly allowance 0 when she didn't show up to school, yes. Does Eiko go to school, yes. It was blackmail and not fair, Nexus agreed. After that blatant verbally slap Eiko stopped trying to speak to her mom. Now she only need a way to make her own money and she could be free from Nexus' grasp. A job like the one that just fell into her lap, one that had a chance of earning her enough bits to escape. Eiko wasn't going to pass this up. She was a greedy goblin and she was going looting. Nothing would stop her; not a loss of allowance, not a loss of sleep. She loved her sleep.
"Coco, spoof my location to ping at home, I have bits to make." Eiko says, as she dress up, throwing her comfy shirt and sweats on the floor, putting on jeans and a crop top followed by a leather jacket. A glance at the time shows 8:47 pm, meaning she won't be back till tomorrow. 'I am going to regret this,' her thoughts pop up.
"Location set, you are free to move around."
Mmmm "Coco, I am a little upset, sleepy and have a long way to go. Keep me up with you voice, will you.
"Of course Eiko, you know I love helping any way I can, it is always a pleasure to-"
-6 hours later-
Thank the gods of blood and chrome mom gave me an off road bike with a good sit. I can only imagine how bad my ass would feel right now with out it. Looking at the time shows 3am. 'It took so ling to get here. I am screwed when mom gets up.' Eiko thoughts surge forward. She tries to reassure herself. 'Fuck it. I am here and all will be well when I get inside.'
Before her is a solid metal door, dirt covering a quarter of it. With a push she can tell it isn't going to open anytime soon. 'The door might be a no go, but it seems I am in luck.' Just to the left of her, there is a hole at waist height, just big enough I might squeeze through. As she moves over to it and looks though to a near pitch black room, a little doubt comes over her. "What are the chances of this being a bad idea Coco?"
"Statistics show low favorably odds. I suggest return home to ask your mom for help," Coco cautions.
Not what Eiko want to hear, but it worked as fuel for her spite.'What is there to be afraid of, it is just a small holepast a half meter of concrete, that may lead to some form of death... or a lot of chrome.'As she let the greed over take her fear she made her way up to the hole and thought, pushing dirt and wiggling as needed. She fit, even had some leeway as her upper body slides past the thick concert wall. Then as her head made it past to the other side, her eyes latch on to the only other thing in the room that's not a door. Which happens to be a ceiling mounted turret... pointing directly at her.
After a moment of stilled, wide eye shock and a lack of being turned into wall paint, she let go of the breath she was holding. 'hah, thought you could scare me, nothing can make me flinch, stupid turret.' Eiko glared at the turret and takes a deep breath in, allowing the dust she knocked around flow into her nose. Agh chu. 'Damnit,' was her only though before she sneezed twice more. "Enough!" with a quick shout, she stops herself from more head bobs and pulls through the opening.
A more clear look around reveals little. The room is a short hall, with only 2 doors, the one she skipped, which has a heavy looking metal bar across it. Then another, but this one has a hand scan to the right of it. 'It's glowing' she see 'perfect. That means it has electricity. That mean I can jack in and hack it.'
As Eiko walks over she pulls on a piece of synth skin on her left forearm by her wrist. Underneath is a pug-in and as she pulls on it, a length of cord comes out. A quick look over the panel reveals a port. Not wasting a moment, she jacks in only to start swearing. The security on the panel is far out of her ability. It doesn't look good. Not wanting to give up yet, she subvocalizes to her PAI, "how screwed are we."
"I am afraid no matter how long we have, we will not be able to break the doors security. Though it the panel does connect to both of the wall cameras and should be rather easy to bypass. Would you like me to proceed?"
"Yes," I pump my fist. 5 minutes later, Eiko gains access and ignores the camera in the room she is in. Looking into the other one, she feels her dreams come true. There's not that much tech that is shown by the camera, but it does show an untouched room that has be pulled apart in search of goods. A whole secret bunker, ripe for the taking. "It's beautiful."
After staring for a good 10 minutes, I pull my jack out. "Coco, can you get a connection out to uncle Oba?. This is going to be amazing."
"Yes, would you like me to connect a call?" Came Coco's reply.
"Yes! NO, don't call, make a message. Say... After a detailed search I have found a preserved bunk with... that is intact. Attach the video camera, make sure they know it's a live feed, along with the location. Then ask him if he wants me to wait for him here or if he wanted to do this another day." Eiko grins to herself 'that will be perfect.'
"Message sent, would you like to listen so some music well you wait?" *Incoming call*
'Already?' Eiko wasn't expecting such a fast response, but she was not about to make her uncle wait for her. He didn't like to wait. She accepted the call and a screen showing her uncle appeared in the top left of the interface. "Greetings uncle Oba, I hope you're having a pleasant night."
"It has been good," came the gruff voice. "I have nothing going on right now and was enjoying the club when I saw you message me. So you know, it's just a text block. Mind sharing that feed, kid?"
'Useless aftermarket PAI piece of sh-' Eiko stopped her mind from running away. Focusing on the important part, she sent the link.
"Hmmm, that does look promising. And I see you must have slipped in through that hole in the wall. Though I am surprised you went out there. You should say in the city walls kid. Make me wonder how you got past them." He paused, letting Eiko speak up, but she had no intention of letting that secret go. "I think this is a good find. I will grab some people and head down. See you soon kid."
The call cuts out as he hangs up. That does not matter though. Not to Eiko. She's did it, it all worked out. Best day of her life.
