In a room, a man was reading something very seriously. His eyes moved quickly every time a new page turned. When he had read something, nothing could take away his focus. The man's name was Yuusuke Kawakami.
Yuusuke Kawakami came from the border in Fukuoka district along with a mother named Riho Kawakami and a younger sister named Yukari Kawakami. Yuusuke grew up around books, so it's no surprise that books have been one of his hobbies since childhood.
However, his passion for reading books was not passed down to his younger sister, Yukari. Yukari preferred to do sports or play with her friends. In the dining room, Riho called Yuusuke to join them for dinner.
Riho sighed then gently hit the head of Yukari who seemed to be engrossed in reading her favorite weekly teen magazine.
"Ouch, it hurts mom ... " Yukari snapped while stroking her head.
"Don't complain so much already. Call your brother. If you keep this up, he won't come out of your late father's study."
Yukari left her dining chair and walked reluctantly up to the 2nd floor. Yuusuke and Yukari's father was a scholar who loved researching things like history and mysteries.
Since childhood, Yuusuke and Yukari were told by their late father about the research he had recently started. The last research conducted by their father was an old temple that had long been abandoned.
In the temple there is a statue of an unknown goddess and there is a crescent moon engraved on the back of the goddess statue. But unfortunately, before the research could be done, their father died three years earlier. Yukari knocked not too loudly on their father's study door. Yuusuke had just finished his reading for the day.
"Ah, Yukari? What's wrong?" asked Yuusuke as he looked back to see Yukari with an annoyed face leaning against the door looking upset.
"Nothing's wrong! Hurry downstairs, dinner's ready" Yukari snapped.
"Okay..." Yuusuke replied reluctantly.
As Yuusuke was putting the books back on the table, Yuusuke noticed something shining under his father's desk. Yuusuke bent down and tried to reach under the desk to pick up the object that caught his attention.
Yukari let out a long sigh when his attention was quickly diverted to something else in such a short time.
"Still long?" asked Yukari
"Hmm... Yukari come down first. I need to get something" said Yuusuke as he went under the table to get the glowing object.
"Okay. If the food runs out, don't blame me..." said Yukari as she left her brother's room.
After Yukari left, Yuusuke was finally able to retrieve the object. In Yuusuke's hand, a small ceramic object in the shape of a crescent moon was still shining.
"A crescent moon?" thought Yuusuke.
The light emitted by the silver ceramic crescent moon disappeared after a while in Yuusuke's hand. Yuusuke carefully examined the crescent but there was no chess or anything that could produce light.
"Well... It's probably just because my eyes are tired" Yuusuke thought as he placed the crescent moon on the table and quickly joined the dinner.
Yukari and Riho noticed Yuusuke's arrival. Riho immediately asked for the fate bowl as soon as Yuusuke sat on his chair.

They enjoyed dinner just like the previous days. In the Kawakami family, there was a small tradition that was carried out during dinner. It was a discussion of what had been done today.
"Yuusuke, you finally enrolled at Tokyo University this afternoon, right? Isn't it too long to wait a year?" said Riho with great curiosity.
Yuusuke sighed then said "I already said that I want to graduate just like the other kids. So I decided to take a year off."
"You're too smart anyway. He graduated high school when he was just in his second year" Yukari continued while enjoying herself.
Riho did realize his extraordinary intelligence just like his late father, but sometimes Riho worried that because he was too focused on his own world, Yuusuke did not have many friends. Unlike his younger sister, Yukari. Yukari's jovial and free-spirited nature made her have many friends. Riho couldn't stop Yuusuke's interest in reading books.
Riho sighed and said, "You know, father and son are the same. Bookworms..."
"Hmm? Did you say something?" said Yuusuke as he asked Riho for more rice. Riho only said that she was proud to have talented children like the two of them, especially Yuusuke who wanted to continue their father's stalled research.
The next morning, Yuusuke in casual clothes stood in front of the gates of the university of tokyo which was always the main destination for students from local and abroad.
"Well, this is my first day of college at Todai. I have to be serious about gaining knowledge here and finishing college quickly" Yuusuke thought. Yuusuke also stepped into the university area of tokyo with enthusiasm.
In the sky of Tokyo, a young girl with long pink hair was floating in the air while watching the people around her. The girl's originally blue eyes turned red. By using these eyes, the girl can see above the sky.
In the sky of Tokyo, a young girl with long pink hair was floating in the air while watching the people around her. The girl's eyes, which were originally blue, turned red. By using these eyes, the girl was able to see above the sky.
"Hmm... The person who was my last target... Where is he? But based on my death book, he should be in this city"
"Ah. If I'm not mistaken, he's still a student, right? But..."
The girl tilted her head and said in confusion.
"What is a student?"
The girl really didn't know whether it was college students or other things of the underworld, because the girl was a goddess of death named Lara Tsukishima. Lara looked confused then she patted her hand and said "Never mind. The important thing is, I know where the next location is."
Lara disappeared along with a strong gust of wind. And now, Lara was in the sky of Tokyo University.
"Hmm. I don't know why universities and students are related. But my final target is here."
Lara smiled and floated down to Tokyo University. Yuusuke was listening seriously to the lecture in the class he was taking. But his focus was broken because he saw a beautiful girl entering the class and looked at the people with a little anxiety.
"W-what exactly happened? That girl is floating? Is she a student here? No, she looks about the same age as Yukari"
Yuusuke continued to observe the girl, he made sure that no one noticed the girl. Suddenly their eyes met each other. Yuusuke gasped in surprise then he quickly shifted his gaze to the window beside him.
The mysterious girl realized that there was someone who could see her. Curiosity made the girl float over to Yuusuke who looked anxious as he realized he was being approached by the girl. The girl was already near Yuusuke. When she saw Yuusuke's face, Yuusuke quickly shifted to another direction.
"Excuse me..."
Every time the girl tried to look at Yuusuke, Yuusuke always managed to avert his eyes quickly. The girl smiled then she gave up trying to see Yuusuke's face, the girl brought her lips close to Yuusuke's ear and said "I know you can see me anyway..."
Yuusuke gasped in surprise then the girl chuckled at his reaction.
"Ah! Since the last 100 years, this is the first time anyone can see me. I forgot myself" said the girl after realizing what she did just now.
The girl was sitting on top of Yuusuke's desk and of course no one noticed but Yuusuke himself. While humming, the girl took out a book from her cleavage and read it once.
Yuusuke who saw the origin of the book, quickly recited the formula of sine and the like with slightly flushed cheeks.
"Ah! Finally found it!"
The girl's shout made Yuusuke gasp in surprise again. The girl looked at Yuusuke for a moment then she smiled. Yuusuke's chest immediately reacted when the girl smiled at him.
Yuusuke saw the girl come down from the table and stand in front of him. The girl's right hand, she raised up and in an instant a giant scythe was formed.
Yuusuke's eyes opened wide as he watched the appearance of the giant-sized scythe. But his awe turned to fear as the head of the scythe was pointed at his neck.
"Yuusuke Kawakami. You have lived too long in this world. So I will take your soul to the afterlife with me."
The meeting between Yuusuke and the strange girl with long pink hair was a fated meeting?
Yuusuke still does not know who the strange girl really is and what she will experience afterwards.
