Sighing I take a small break from laying the foundation. Truthfully I haven’t even began to add buildings yet, just the lay of roads and aqueducts along with the occasional basement for storage, park areas, and bases for larger non-resident buildings. I also added a couple more trees so my other one won’t be lonely, but that’s not important right now.
Since my city was a circle I decided to have a ring in the center where the palace would be, 400 meters in diameter, then had eight roads branching off from it, splitting the city into eight parts. After that I had another smaller road ring every kilometer, ten time from the center of the city, the eight roads stopping at the last ring. The last five kilometers surroundings the city were split into four quadrants, the two ‘northern’ ons- not that I know the actual direction of north- were to be a mine and farm respectively. The two southern quadrants would be a lake and a forest.
Of course none of the actual things were created yet, but I’m getting there! Yosh, let’s start with creating the buildings, leaving the palace for last. A thing to note was I gained several types of stones and metals through absorption, even collecting the legendary adamantium! Unfortunately I still don’t have zinc, silicon, tin, aluminum or other modern metals. (And yes, silicon is part metal.) Most of the metals I did get were fantasy metals, like altarus, astral silver, and Raeonite.
But still no modern metals… I growled in annoyance as I slowly built buildings out of a type of several types of stone I had absorbed such as Dark stone, Dry Stone, Dusty Stone, and even a stone called Steel Stone. Like the hell, this is definately a third rate sandbox.
I also found out I could use wood I have created like my trees, so I used that as well. Occasionally I would add metal plates of certain metals to give it a rustic look/future look. Other times I would use wood and create organic buildings with smooth flowing stone.
Unfortunately I felt I didn’t have a wide enough range of materials to use, so I left myself with only building the underlying structures of most of the buildings, leaving alot of the area for my city empty.
Now then… I pondered over my next course of action, since it is possible to create life, would something like alchemy also be available? I frowned, the question’s answer was most likely ‘yes’, the question is how I would do it.
It’s been bugging me for a while, but this world is extremely simple. Everything is labelled with simple names, and has simple properties. When I tried to search my trees for cells by creating a magnifier out of glass, I couldn’t find any. It was as if the tree was a solid object, not a loosely bound material made of atoms. That’s right… Just like polygon’s in a video game. Extremely detailed ones, but polygons nonetheless.
That leaves the question of how the world works. Is it like in those VRMMORPGs where it just assigns fields attributes and functions? Is it just a mass of data? Well technically anything is a mass of data… Not important.
Right now I just need to figure out how to use the world around me to my advantage. From what I can tell anything I imagine, given enough detail, can be made into reality with an adequate amount of mana. Whether this is unique to dungeons or if there are other creatures with this ability is up in the air, but for now that doesn’t matter either. The attributes of any creature I create are determined by mental image, so can’t the same be done for materials?
No use thinking. Act. Meditating I focus; Atoms don’t matter, only properties. Focus. A thick durable cloth, waterproof, sturdy. Able to be dyed in multitude of vibrant colors and can be enchanted with various properties. It will act as cover for the markets, porches, and other areas. I want to see children, pets, and animals lazing under the shade they provide. I want mothers and fathers to lay down on them as blankets for a picnic. I see kids propping it up, buildings forts out of cloth, pillows and sticks. *ting~

Blinking my conscious back to the physical world I found my surroundings… empty. But I felt the knowledge of the cloth I created, and with a swing of mana I created a large swath of it, causing a small smile to spill across my non-existent face. Well, now that that is proven to work I better get back to building.

Since i am probably going to need large amounts of animus to populate this small world I’ve created, so I better get started on creating a stable supply. To do such I will first populate the forest, and to do that I will need to create a sky for light. Focus. It is magic. The whims of my mind. I gathered my mana and dispersed it around the dome ceiling. Come, Azure, starry sky! I imagined my hands holding up the wind, A grin spread across my face as I let my fantasies take control. Come, Ra the eye of the day! Come, Ji! The eye of the night!
*Crick~ Mana and animus exploded from my core and shot into the ceiling. Unfortunately I was too oblivious to notice and continued with my delusions.
May you be blessed with eternal patience, kindness that is just, and power to share with those who lay under you! Come my stars, embodiments of power that my people will look up to for directions and guidance, the beacons that will provide my people with the elements!
My mana explosively amplified itself, shaking the whole land around me. May this world, forged with the hands of my mind, be sheltered under my own beautiful, painted sky!
*vvoooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
A giant crack- like a rift in space- appeared above my city, quickly followed by countless others as they streamed towards my horizons, even entering my little alcove and the tree room. Then the cracks bloomed, azure light and countless stars spreading across my sky. The city and the land surrounding it manifested as a pillar of stone rising up from a mirror with no reflections, Ra, my sun appeared on the right horizon, halfway submerged in the endless silver lake. Ji, my shining moon appeared on the left, opposite of Ra and of similar size. Both glowed with a myriad of colors, like an aura of power that surrounded them like the countless multi-colored stars. *ting~

For a while I watched in silent amazement as my visions came to fruition, then shook my head. Not yet. Still have to build the actual city then expand it. Also, I quickly opened up my status.

So. That took alot of mana. And I appear to have created alot of children with that as well. Though they don’t seem to count as monsters or bosses… Changing my focus I explore the new surroundings with my senses, looking at my sleeping children that dotted the false sky. Ra currently was rising from the right while Ji was setting on the left, and with his rise he slowly woke up.
“Umu…” his gaze swept the city and before I could call to him- “Mother,” he called fondly, “I’ll wait for you to complete the city before awakening again.” and without giving me time to respond he returned to slumbering as he slowly made his way across the sky.
I snorted in amusement. My child is quite lazy. Well no matter, he’ll fulfill his duty when there is a duty to fulfill. For now I look over the countless star children that happily spun around. Honestly they were more like a hivemind, and actively recognized and greeted me happily. “Mother~ Mother~ Will we have little people soon?”
I smiled wryly and patted them with my mana, “yes yes. Just wait a little for mama to finish the city.” They definitely remind me of my daughter in my previous life. Shame she’s probably dead now. Oh well, no use worrying about it. Let’s continue with the city shall we?
