Salnys's muscles ached; many hours of travel had worn them out, though his excitement far outdid the discomfort he was feeling, they’d finally made it! He’s currently in a large group of boys, all of them looking like they feel the same way he does, looking similarly excited, except for the man in the front who’s holding a stern expression on his face and has a large frame. He's definitely older than the rest of the group, though it's hard to tell his exact age due to the armor he's wearing. After stopping, many of the boys dropped the considerable amount of luggage that they were carrying.
“Gods, finally,” One of the chubbier boys' yells, breaking the silence, “Most of us are going to classes to become wizards, not knights!” He’s clearly sweating, his clothing is drenched, and he’s panting loudly. He definitely wasn't prepared for a hike.
Salnys looked forward, taking in the scenery. The building in front of him looked magnificent, it was made mostly of some glossy black stone, maybe marble, he wasn’t sure what kind as he wasn’t much of an architect, but it looked amazing either way. The design looked like an incredible architect and some amazing builders made it. The building has multiple large fences attached to the sides of it that continue around the academy grounds, at least for as long as I could see. He does wonder why they don’t have any first-year education on this campus though, this place looks amazing. Salnys and everyone else is clearly excited to enter.
“Why is the school out here in the middle of nowhere in the first place? This is at least five miles away from the nearest city,” Salnys asked, directing his question toward one of the older boys in the group that he recognized as the friendliest of the bunch, “And aren’t these woods fairly dangerous?”
“Beats me, I tried figuring that out when I was a first-year, but never got an answer,” The older boy responded, “But if I had to guess, it would be because the forest deters anyone who considers attacking the academy or any of the students.”
The younger people in the group are currently talking to each other about what classes they’re going to be taking, and what teachers they hope to have. Though they’re soon cut off by the man who's leading the group, Salnys is pretty sure his name is Cecillian Hailnate, but they should be calling him Mr. Hailnate.

“Alright, we’re here, the building in front of us is where you’ll be deciding what classes you take,” Cecillian doesn’t wait for everyone to stop talking, he wouldn’t have to anyways as his voice overpowers anyone who was already talking, “you’ll have today to decide what classes you’ll be taking this year, classes don’t start for another week, and you’ll be reporting to me at the beginning of every school day unless otherwise specified, I hope to see you in class, and good luck.”
After Cecillian finished talking, everyone at once scrambled to pick up any luggage they put on the ground, and to get to the building in front of them. Mercifully, Salnys’s mother hadn’t complained that he’d packed lightly, so he didn’t have much luggage and was one of the first people to get into the building. He entered an office-like area with multiple people attending desks, one of them greeted Salnys by waving at him and gesturing him over to the desk that they were sitting at. The attendant and Salnys went over different classes and electives, and he eventually decided to take a fairly standard second year, with classes continuing the magic theory he had taken the year before, and a few classes based around prepping and using mana for spells and enchantment, he also chose a continuation of the previous year's math as it would be helpful with his mana theory classes, he then finally chose some back-up classes which involved swordplay. After deciding what classes he would be taking he was notified that he would be told his final classes within the next two days.
He got his dorm door instructions and headed out to find the dorms. The moment he got out of the building he saw someone he recognized, his friend Elijah. Elijah is a pretty interesting guy, Salnys finds it strange that Elijah still hangs around him as he isn’t the most talkative, but he’s not going to complain, it’s nice to have someone to talk to every once in a while.
“Wassup man,” Elijah yells, it looks like he got here a couple of hours ago, considering he doesn’t have any luggage, “Did you hear that we’re getting our own dorm rooms this year now that they finished the new buildings?”
“I haven’t, sounds exciting,” Salnys responds, not showing much interest in talking to Elijah right now.
“Need any help finding your dorms?” Elijah responds, not minding the disinterest Salnys is showing.
Salnys shakes his head and walks off, Elijah does not attempt to follow him. Along with the instructions to open and lock the dorm's door he received he also got a map. While he wasn't the most prepared for this coming school year, he was still looking forward to it.
