Chapter 1.5

A beeping echoed from three different medical machines inside a quiet hospital room located in the long-term care ward of a small town hospital somewhere in southern Ontario. A quiet, busy buzzing from the hospital staff outside the room kept the place lively - though the inside of the room was eerily quiet.

Three bodies of young ladies - recent high school graduates, laid still after a bus accident that had happened the month prior. Though nothing was wrong with them physically, the doctors couldn't discern why they had yet to awaken. So all three girls resided in this room together, in a mysterious comma. That was until the machines started beeping with an increased speed as their heart rates picked up momentum.

Notified of the change of status, a nurse came in to check on the health status of their more recent patients. Noticing that the girls were stirring, she hit the button to call the on-call doctor to the room - where they began to make calls around the hospital, arranging tests for the moment the girls all awakened.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

The first to awaken was a petite, pale girl with unruly brown hair. Her green eyes fluttered open and squeezed shut several times. She slowly pushed herself into a seated position as a nurse adjusted the bed and pillow for her to lean back. She didn't say anything, just looked at the two girls still waking beside her. One of olive tone with straight black hair, and the other with an ochre tone, with tightly curled auburn hair.

Confused at the two unknown girls next to her, she looked to the nurse in standard medical garbs with a heavy frown on her face, then turned to look out the window beside her. Her mouth opened and closed several times as her confusion increased. She realized she was in some sort of medical institute, but nothing around her looked or sounded familiar. Finally, she decided to get answers and looked back at the nurse waiting beside her.

"Excuse me, deaconess. I do not wish to be rude, as it seems you have been taking care of me in my time of need but…Is this witchcraft? Am I in the land of demons?"

"Pardon?" The nurse responded in confusion before noises behind her had her rushing to care for the other girls who had fully woken. The green-eyed girl watched quietly before looking out the window a final time.

"Did my brother finally succeed in sending me to some mental ward?"
