Ch11 - Did he just speak?

Mordred and the group across from him were utterly stunned by Ares' unexpected move.

Did he just speak?

A skeleton, a summoned creature, talking? And could it actually harm its own master?

Ares just wanted to roll his eyes.

Of course, he couldn't do much at the moment, but as long as he suppressed any murderous intent or malicious actions towards Mordred, he could still pull off a few tricks.

Like pushing Mordred out there.

Maybe he could use someone else to do the dirty work and get Mordred killed.

For the sake of freedom, damn Mordred had to die!

Mordred never imagined his prized skeleton would shove him forward, nearly face-to-face with the enemy, making his hair stand on end. He let out a startled yelp and tried to back away.

The next second, a young man riding a fierce white tiger appeared in the distance.

"Mordred! Time to die!"

With those words, the young man with a sinister look in his eyes suddenly conjured a spear and lunged it fiercely at Mordred's chest.

Mordred was terrified and quickly retreated to create some distance.

"James, you actually dared to leave the newbie village?"

"What, did that bitch get used to having sex with me and now she doesn't like you anymore? Did she kick you out? Hahaha..."

"James, I never thought you'd see this day!"

Mordred kept hurling insults, but his hands didn't stop. He waved his staff, casting fireballs while commanding the other nine skeleton soldiers to block James. Meanwhile, he kept retreating.

He was a coward, afraid of dying, but if the person facing him was James, his courage would swell.

Why? Because the incident of him raping James' girlfriend had become widely known. But since it happened in the game, real-world laws couldn't touch him, and dying in the game wasn't real death.

James, being a rich kid, couldn't do much in real life except hunt him down in the game.

Before the game "Genesis" descended on Earth, with James' family background and connections, he could have killed Mordred with a gun without facing any charges.

But now, with new laws freshly enacted, powerful figures who made these laws were watching closely, eager to make examples out of people for educational purposes.

So, despite his immense anger, James didn't dare act recklessly.

Even knowing his girlfriend was raped in the game, all he could do in real life was block Mordred's door.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

As long as Mordred couldn't leave his room, he'd eventually starve to death!

And since killing in the game wasn't illegal, James had no qualms about rallying his men to hunt Mordred down.

Unfortunately, they hadn't found him yesterday and even lost a team. When James logged off, he immediately got the news that they had encountered a powerful wild boss that wiped them out with a single strike.

Today, he gathered his forces to search the area for that wandering wild boss.

Unexpectedly, he stumbled upon Mordred, who had been elusive yesterday!

Upon receiving the news, he rushed over on his newly tamed mount without a second thought!

Who knew that bastard Mordred would dare to insult him!

James was furious. Missing his first strike, he dismissed his mount and charged at Mordred with his spear.

His speed was faster than Mordred's newbie gear, and in a few strides, he was close enough to pierce Mordred's chest. But suddenly, a golden bone sword intercepted his spear.

James' eyes flashed with a sharp, cold light as he turned to see a golden skeleton standing before him.

James hadn't witnessed Ares' earlier ground-splitting strike, so he wasn't intimidated. Seeing it as just another skeleton soldier, he assumed it was Mordred's summoned cannon fodder.

Though surprised that it could block his spear single-handedly, he wasn't worried. Just a level 6 skeleton soldier...

The next second, a golden flash, and James' eyes froze in shock, flickered twice, and vanished.

All that remained on the ground was his spear.

Ares' sword light didn't stop, slicing through the crowd again, taking down a few more unlucky souls.

The remaining people, seeing James disappear and the menacing skeleton with a sword, scattered in panic.

Someone tried to grab the gear on the ground, but Ares slashed at them, making sure no one dared linger, fleeing in terror.

Ares was fuming inside.

He swore he had no intention of saving Mordred. He had planned to watch Mordred get killed from the sidelines.

But in that critical moment, some inexplicable force compelled him to step forward and protect his master!

James was only level 17 and couldn't withstand Ares' full-force strike, getting killed before he could react.

Ares was frustrated. His plan had been thwarted, and those people even dared to take away the spoils that should have belonged to him!

No one was allowed to touch his stuff!

Once everyone had fled, Ares picked up the spear James had dropped. It turned out to be an A-grade weapon!

James, the rich kid, had an A-grade weapon at just a few levels!

Ares didn't bother with Mordred, who was sitting on the ground in shock, and gathered all the dropped gear.

Unfortunately, aside from the spear, everything else was C-grade and D-grade gear, which Ares promptly melted down, gaining 11 trial stones.

Looking at the 37 smelting stones and the A-grade weapon in his inventory, Ares nodded in satisfaction.

Then he turned back, staring intently at Mordred.

Mordred, having been pushed out by Ares, hadn't expected the mutated skeleton soldier to save him. When he saw James' spear coming at him, he had resigned himself to death.

Unexpectedly, not only did he survive, but he also witnessed the mutated skeleton soldier take down James in one strike.

If that strike had landed on him...

Mordred shivered, contemplating how to command Ares, only to find the skeleton silently staring at him.

Wait, why was he raising his sword?

Mordred watched in terror as Ares slowly lifted the golden sword towards him, instinctively backing away.

But Ares just stood there for a moment, then silently sheathed his sword, grabbed Mordred by the collar, and sprinted towards the level 20 wild zone.

Ares, still unwilling to give up, tried again and found he still couldn't bring the sword down on Mordred.

If players attacked Mordred, he was forced to protect him. But what if wild creatures attacked Mordred?

Or if Mordred got hit with a status effect from a wild creature?

Even if he killed the creature, he couldn't remove the buff from Mordred.

The "Venomous Spider" seemed perfect. With five layers of poison buff stacked, how long could Mordred's fragile stats hold out?

Ares meticulously planned, while Mordred screamed in terror, as they crossed the level 10 wild zone and entered the level 20 territory!

Mordred was losing it. He realized Ares was filled with malice towards him, and as Ares dragged him along, he had a chilling suspicion.

Was Ares trying to kill him?

Once that thought emerged, he couldn't shake it, frantically trying to log out.

But!

"No! Why can't I log out, why?"

Mordred panicked.

He felt like he was about to die.
