Most of the drive to the village was silent and slightly uncomfortable, but Mei didn’t care to do much. Leon seemed to be in his own world and she didn’t really want to bother him. When she saw him look at the picture of Ashley Graham, aka who they both were tasked with rescuing, she couldn't help but feel bad. Before she could ask if he was doing alright, the officer in the passenger's seat began talking.
“So, tell me, Yanqui.. Why did you come to this horrible place? As close to nowhere I’ve ever seen.” The senior officer said in a joking tone of voice, turning in his seat to face the two agents.
“Let’s just say — we’re looking for someone.” Leon said, His hand resting on his temple as he spoke.
“That someone must be very important, eh?” The senior officer laughed, turning back around in his seat. “The chief gave the orders himself. ‘Help him’ he said.”
“Well, I’m sure your boys didn’t come all the way out here to roast marshmallows. ..Or maybe you did.” Leon quipped, earning a chuckle from his superior, Mei, as well as the senior cop.
“You have a strange sense of humor,” He began. “I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Just between us. A Lot of people have gone missing around here. And it’s been that way for a while now.”

‘Huh.’ Mei thought, taking note of what he said. She looked over at Leon, studying his facial expressions before looking back out the window.
“Well then.. Should be just another day in the office, right?” Leon asked, the cop humming in response. “I mean. Last week there was a search for some missing hikers.” Leon shook his head, as if he were annoyed. “I’m sure you’ll do your best to help us.”
The senior cop laughed again, though Mei didn’t really understand what was funny. The next few minutes were spent in silence, the two agents both lost in thought. Mei couldn't get her mind off of Raccoon City. When she watched Ada fall from that height, she almost cried. But she knew she shouldn't cry. She barely knew the woman before she watched her fall to her ‘death’. But somehow, she had gotten attached. She sighed, trying to get her mind onto something else while they made their way to the village. She needed to focus if this mission was going to be a success.
“I think this is it.” The rookie cop mumbled as he pulled the car to a stop at the dead end road. “Nature calls, eh? I’ll be right back.” The senior cop said as he got out of the car, closing the door behind him as he made his way to a bush to do his business at. The two cops spoke in Spanish, seemingly joking at each other as the cop walked to the bush.
The rookie pulled out a box of cigarettes, opening it and putting one in his mouth. He glanced up at the rear-view mirror. “You two smoke?” While Leon declined, Mei accepted the offer. He gave her a cigarette, which she lit with the lighter she always kept in her pocket. She rolled her window down so she wouldn’t fill the car with smoke. Leon looked out the car window, making note of the odd wooden structures and vast woodland that surrounded this place. Something felt very wrong about this place.
