Grim Reaper or more popularly known as Shinigami.

They're a being that has been tasked by Reath, The Grand God Of Death, to reap the soul that has reached the end of their lifespan.

They're a being that's associated with a skeleton wearing a tattered black robe and wielding a giant scythe, reaping through a human's soul.

But is it true?

The Grim Reaper doesn't refer to an individual but it actually refers to an organization (which is also created by Reath).

They mostly work in an office (managing the human's soul) because of that they surprisingly wear a black and white suit and they only came to the field when there is a soul that has reached the end of their lifespan.

This chapter is about the story of how the Grim Reaper's 3rd Division trying to reap a certain Japanese person's soul.

It is another peaceful day in The Shinigami Realm and the grim reapers are 'reaping' human's soul as usual.

The stage for today's story is at the Grim Reaper Asia's Division Headquarter, the 3rd Division was having a normal day at work.

Which is killing humans using peculiar or weird methods.

During the lunch break, a sharp-looking white haired Asian man is enjoying his afternoon tea inside his personal office.

"Hmm?, what's that?"(Man)

While drinking his Royal Milk tea, he then noticed that a crow is knocking its beak to the window.

"Aaah"

Realizing what's happening, he then opened the window, letting the crow inside.

"A messenger?, what do you want?"(Man)

"Caw, The Grand God Of Death have a message for you, Caw."(Crow)

"Caw, 'The time has come for your division to do your 'original work' is what that person said, caw."(Crow)

"Is that so, here, a cookie for you."(Man)

"Munch, A thousand thank you, Caw."(Crow)

After relaying the message, the crow then flew away leaving the man alone inside the office.

"Now, let's get to work shall we."(Man)

He then grabbed a full-face skull mask from the table, he then wears it on his face alongside his (intentionally) tattered-looking cloak.

He, the man is named as Dokuro, he's one of the Elite Grim Reaper in the realm and he is also the Division Chief of the 3rd Division aka, 'The Peculiar Death Division'

After their (3rd division) afternoon break ended, the shinigami is about to continue their work until their Division Chief suddenly came out from his office.

"Gulp."(Shinigamis)

From his formal attire, they knew that something is about to happen, Dokuro then announced to his team.

"Everyone, stop whatever you're doing and please go to the 2nd Meeting Room in 10 minutes."(Dokuro)

"We understand"(The whole division)

Hearing their chief's announcement, the whole division (11 shinigami) then stopped their work.

A few human life is even being left hanging by his order, they then uniformly make their way to the meeting room.

Inside The Second Meeting Room. After he has confirmed that the whole division has entered the meeting room, Dokuro then goes to the front table

He then announced to his division.

"Just now, a crow messenger came to me, as you all know, the only one that would use that kind of old style way is the one and only, The Grand God of Death, Reath."(Dokuro)

"He has given us the order to execute our division 'original' work, any question?"(Dokuro)

"Rise"

"Chief, I have a question."(Hasebe)

"Oh!, the newly joined Shinigami Hasebe, what's your question?"(Dokuro)

Shinigami Hasebe here is a shinigami that has transferred here from the Soul Management Division by Reath-sama's order, she is wearing a skull mask that only covers her left eye, which is normal for someone who had just transferred to the field from office work.

"Chief, my apologies, even though I had just newly transferred here, I had never heard about this division's original work from other division." (Hasebe)

"I can't seem to remember reading about this specific work even from the division introduction, may I inquire you about it?"(Hasebe)

"Of course you won't find it in the introduction, it is a top-secret after all."(Dokuro)

" Eh?''(Hasebe)

"This division original purpose is to specifically execute Reath-sama's order which is to reap a person's soul that has an unbelievable amount of spiritual energy."(Dokuro)

Said Dokuro while showing his division a comparison picture of two human's spiritual energy, a normal human and a spiritual human.

After Hasebe's question, another shinigami then asked the chief.

"Chief can I ask why we need to do it? Based on the academy's teaching, a person with that kind of energy would usually die without knowing its own ability, Or is it classified?"(Shinigami A)

When she asked that, the other shinigamis including the division founding member are also listening carefully to the chief's word.

Just by looking at them, Dokuro already knew that they had already forgotten why we're doing this in the first place.

He then said while showing them a picture of the two realms on the whiteboard behind him.

"We do this kind of work because it is needed to stabilize the spiritual energy balance in the world."(Chief)

"For those who understand that good job, for those who didn't, please do a revision at home, do you understand?"(Dokuro)

"Yes, chief!!"(3rd Division)

Shinigami Hasebe then asked her last question before sitting back.

"Chief, this is my last question, how do we even choose someone to die in this case."(Hasebe)

"That's what I was about to do."(Dokuro)

"Snap"

With a snap from his finger, a globe then appeared at the top of the table, some shinigami knew what it was while some are curious about it just like Shinigami Hasebe.

"This globe here is called as 'Soul Searcher', this machine will help us to find the person that has too much of spiritual energy."(Dokuro)

He then switched on the machine, multiple light dots then begin to light up at every place on the globe.

Dokuro then spun the globe as hard as he can, after a few spins, the globe then stopped and all of the lights also stopped shining, all except for one.

Then, an A4 paper suddenly appeared on top of Dokuro's right hand, before looking at it, he firstly gave his division a talk.

"Everyone, offer your prayer to this unfortunate soul here, we need to show our respect to the soul."(Dokuro)

The whole room then turned silent, they is showing their respect with a moment of silence.

The chief then read the name on the paper, after reading it he then said to his division.

"3rd Division, the unfortunate soul has been chosen, his name is Kisaragi Touma, a Japanese, he is just a normal guy living his normal life, unfortunately, he has been chosen."(Dokuro)

"We understand."(The whole division)

"...."(Hasebe)

Noticing the awkward silence of the newly transferred Shinigami Hasebe, the chief then said this to reassure her.

"Usually, when a soul was chosen like this, they would usually get a chance to reincarnate, so please don't be worried"(Dokuro)

"Nod"(Hasebe)

"Okay then, this operation will be a group operation, now for the one who is in charge of this operation."(Dokuro)

"The first one will be...Shinigami Taizhou."(Dokuro)

"Got it chief."(Taizhou)

The one that answered Dokuro's word is Shinigami Taizhou, he is a shinigami that's best described as Bear-like.

With his tall and muscular figure, alongside his brown short hair, his nickname 'Grizzly' does fit the description.

He is one of the founding members of the division and because he is a quite high-ranking shinigami, he owns half of a skull mask, his mask only covers the upper part of his face.

"Following him in this operation will be... Shinigami Iroha."(Dokuro)

"Leave it to me chief, I will make you proud."(Iroha)

With her pink hair and bubbly personality, she is the office's idol, Shinigami Iroha.

But don't be deceived by her outer appearance because she is also one of the founding members to join the division alongside the chief.

By the way, she is also a quite skilled shinigami, that's proven by her half-mask that covers the lower part of her face.

Rumour says that she is actually around the same age as the chief (which is 5000 years old!!).

"Hachoo!!"

"Is someone talking about me?"(Iroha)

Ignoring Iroha's cute sneeze, the chief then pointed his finger to the last member of the operation.

"Point"

"And the last one shall be... you, Shinigami Arata."(Dokuro)

The shinigami that has been chosen by Dokuro is the flashy red-haired shinigami, his name is Shinigami Arata and he's the 'ikemen' character in the division.[Handsome]

He also has a girlfriend in another division, Arata then flusteredly answered the chief.

"M-me!?, but Chief, I have a date-"(Arata)

Ignoring the normie Shinigami Arata, the chief then ordered the three of them.

"The three of you will be in charge of the whole operation, you guys will be given the authority to get help from any Shinigami in this HQ."(Dokuro)

"Do your best."(Dokuro)

With that, their meeting this time has ended.

The shinigamis then exited the room steadily, right before the three shinigami are about to exit the room, the chief then stops them to say something.

"I almost forgot about this, I'm you guy's backup plan if there is a one in a million chance that you guys fail."(Dokuro)

"Sir, are you serious!?"(Arata)

"Of course I am, I used to be a normal shinigami like you guys, I know how you guys feel."(Dokuro)

[Dokuro isn't belittling his subordinates here, he's a Chief that means less fieldwork more paperwork]

"As expected from the chief, you're so manly that it made me teared up a bit."(Taizhou)

"You're my role model chief."(Iroha)

"Haha, thanks for the praises."(Dokuro)

"Anyway, you guys don't need to worry even if you guys failed, cuz I will be there to cover for you guys."(Dokuro)

After that meeting, the three shinigami then each created their plan to kill the target, Kisaragi Touma.

But no one would guess that the target is more than what meets the eyes.
