My Life, as an Irregular Tamer
The Life of an Irregular Tamer -Prolouge-

The Life of an Irregular Tamer -Prolouge-

The sun peeked shyly from the horizon. It’s gentle light slowly illuminates the world in a beautiful orange.

And at the start of this beautiful day, in the continent known as shura, on a certain forest near the edge of the world.

Monsters have begun their hunting routine, they roam around the forest looking for a suitable prey. Fresh claw marks on the trees bark, fresh blood splattered across the ground, dying screams of the surrounding monsters.

But contrary to the rest of the forest, in a single spot where a natural glade had been made, a simple house made out of wood has a really peaceful atmosphere.

The reason for its peaceful nature is because this spot is the place where the strongest out of every animal and monsters in this forest reside.

And there, inside an empty small room with only a bed and a drawer, a single man woke up. He yawned while scratching his back and walked towards the door.

And from behind him a small shadow crept up.

The round shadow drag it’s body on the floor making a small *splash splosh* sound.

It touched the man’s leg and climbed to his head.

The man, obviously startled started panicking while waving his hands around to keep his balance.

And the creature, ignoring the unstable footing, jumped up and down energetically as if saying good morning to the man.

“H-hey! Stop it! Don’t jump around like that or you’ll fall!”

With a nervous expression, the man warned the small slime to be careful only to be ignored as the slime kept jumping all around his body energetically.

Finally, the man managed to catch the slime and hold it in his arm. Stopping it’s energetic movement.

“Stop moving around! Or you will not get any breakfast!”

Hearing the threat, the slime stopped all movements and sit obediently in the man’s arms.

The reason why is because this slime in particular really loves to eat, especially the breakfast that was made by the man.

After saying “Good grief…” the man finally went outside of the room and continue to walk to the kitchen.

There he made a simple breakfast, by frying rice and eggs.

The slime happily ate all of the food served on the plate in front of it.

The man smiled as he watched his companion eat with such happy atmosphere.

After they are done, the man picked some carrots from a drawer inside the small partitioned kitchen and walk outside towards the stable beside the house.

This house consist of 4 rooms that interconnect with each other. The bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom, and the rest room. And outside of the rooms is the stable on the right side of the house.

The man opened the stable door and greet the resident inside.

“Good morning Kyu, here carrots for your breakfast~! Eat and then we will fetch our food for today!”

A grey horse with streaks of red pattern throughout its body then slowly walk out of the shadow and cuddle its head to the man, before it ate the carrots given by him.

“Okay! I will go fetch my hunting gear, we will go once we are all ready got it?”

After Kyu nodded her head the man then went back to his bedroom to prepare for their hunting.

Meanwhile, the slime Len approach Kyu and seemed to have a serious conversation between them.

A really abnormal sight to behold.

Surely if there are other people here they will tilt their heads in confusion when they see a higher ranked monster <Árvakr> act with so much respect to a .

Shortly after what looked like an agreement, the man came out of the house equipped with a shoulder pad made out of leather and iron, and a simple chest guard, also made out of iron. And on his back is a bow and quiver filled with arrows while on his hip is a small dagger with an engraving of .

“I’m ready. Before we hunt lets go to , I got some business with the elder.”

The man then shifted his gaze to Len.

“Len? The usual… come!”

He crouched and reached his right hand to her.

Following his invitation Len climbed to his arm and changed shape to a blue wristband using one of her species skill .

After doing a final check on all of their equipment, they finally set off to .

The following ride can be considered peaceful since most of the monsters here already knew the existence of , save for some newcomers that were just migrating to this forest due to losing their home in the ongoing war between humans.

The attacking monsters who were foolish enough to not notice the difference in power were dealt with relative ease.

Some were shot down with an arrow while some were trampled by Kyu.

After a few minutes ride they arrived at the village’s entrance.

There they were greeted by the town’s guard.

“Oh Master! Long time no see! How long since you last came here? Two months? Good to see you are well!”

“Ah… hello Sam-san! Can I see the elder? I have something important to discuss.”

“The elder is it? I’ll send someone to notify the elder… hey! You! New guy! Go to the elder house and tell her that Master is here to see her!”

“Yes sir!”

After giving a salute, the young guard ran towards the village to do his task.

While waiting for the guard to come back, Master and the guard engaged in a simple chatter between old acquaintance.

The guard ask some questions regarding Master’s situation living in the forest alone which were answered with a slight discomfort on Master’s side. Of course he didn’t show any of it on his face.

He is well known to be nice and friendly in the village, and also a man of mystery.

One day he just showed up and talked with the elder. The villagers were all nervous about this mysterious traveller. And they can only settle down after the elder announced that they will have a mutual relationship with the man.

Since then the man had helped the village on a few occasions and acquired the nick name ‘Master’ from the kids in the village.

Not only because of his wide variety of knowledge that he posses, but also because of no one really knows his real name.

After a while, the young guard returned and gave Master the affirmation from the elder.

Master then get down from Kyu and walk towards the elder’s house.

Throughout the way he received greetings from the villagers and even some marriage proposal from the young maidens in the village. This happened every time he came to the village.

If you ignore Master’s mysterious past, he can be a pretty tempting candidate for marriage.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

His looks are not bad, it can be said that he is quite handsome with his short black hair and eyes. He is also obviously not poor, since he has donated quite the amount for the village. These coupled with some other facts made the girls desire to be Wed to him.

On the other hand, Master is quite troubled by all the proposals every time he came to the village. Not because he felt responsible or anything, but because the two familiars, Kyu and Len are giving off dangerous stares every time this happened.

“Hey! I told you guys to not mind those girls. You guys know that I have no intention to involve my self any further than what I need to… huh? What? I’m not feigning innocence! Just quit that stares already!” Master whispered in order to calm his two familiars down, only to got doubting stares in return.

Their heart warming exchange continued until they arrived in front of the elder’s house.

“Oh look, We are here…”

Master ordered Kyu to stand guard and not to let anyone in while his conversation is still ongoing.

Then Master and Len entered the house after he knocked the door several times.

“Elder? I’m going in…”

After he went in a figure of an old woman with a dignified atmosphere appeared near the end of the room while holding a tray with two glass of tea on it.

“Come, sit and tell me what is so important that you have to come here yourself… and have some tea while you are at it. I bought a new brand just for you, so you better enjoy it!”

Usually Master always uses his another familiar in order to send a message, a small by the name of Fol. Although other than the elder no one else know of this fact.

By the way currently Fol is sent to investigate another matter by Master.

“I have receive news of the newest raiders attack…”

“! Indeed… this is truly an important matter… go on…”

“The newest village to fall victim to their raid is… …”

is located north west of , it is also one of this village’s trade partner. Since this village main commodity is crops, they trade the surplus crops for dairy products that was the specialty of .

“So they have come this far… thank you for letting me know… I will prepare the villagers to evacuate immediately…”

“Please do… based on my prediction the raiders will arrive approximately in 2 days.”

“That fast?! Okay… let’s begin the evacuation preparation now!”

The elder then call for one of her servants to gather all the villagers and relay the evacuation order.

“Master… are you also evacuating? Do you want to come with us?”

“No. I will stay in the forest, their main targets are villages so there’s no way they are going to go deep inside a forest would they?”

“You are right… may the goddess protect you always… thank you for all your help all this time Master.”

“You too…”

After she said her gratitude, she turn her heel and went to help the preparation.

Left alone in the room Master threw a sigh before he leave the room.

“Kyu, come! We are going..!”

‘This is my gratitude for helping me all this time elder… be safe!’

While bearing a slightly saddened feelings, Master and his companion went back to the forest before he glance back to the village for one last time.

*Sizzle sizzle sizzle*

“What do you guys think? Should we go deeper? Or should we change location?”

As he was cooking Master threw some papers to the table where Len and Kyu were seated.

A somewhat small creature around the size of a baseball flew around the room.

Her long blonde hair fly around following the wind as she flew left and right with astounding cheerfulness.

“Those are the result of my three days investigation~! Think about it properly okay? Our livelihood depends on it!”

“Fol is right… this time we managed to find a good spot for our house. Everything is just right for all of us, so I want your opinions this time.”

Master put the cooked meats on plates then brought it to the table.

He sat down after passing everyone their share and started eating.

Their discussion continued until late at night. Almost every possibilities were discussed, and in the end they decided to go and search for another place to live.

They will leave first thing in the morning, so they have to pack their stuff before they rest.

“Fol come here… I want you to go to the village and relay to me any information that you deem important. I can trust you and your unique skill, can I?”

“Sure you can master! We will not disappoint~! Off we go~!!!”

After flying around in circles, Fol left through the window with astounding vigor, leaving a smiling Master behind to do her task.

And with that… the next day arrives.

Long before the sun rises, in front of the house, Master stood while viewing his surroundings.

Just moment before, he had ordered Kyu and Len to do some things while he waited for Fol to come back.

He stood 60 cm away from the door, and beside him are 3 backpacks with unusual design considering the era he was in. He had done packing and currently shutting his eyes with the intention to concentrate.

“Clamor Pectoris;”

A moment later, ring of red fire suddenly appeared and surrounded him.

“Vult Effrenatus Robus;”

Then expanded 30 cm away from him.

The fire flickered but it holds no heat in it, proofed by the house not being affected even though it was on such a close proximity to the fire.

“Ferrum Vulneris!”

As soon as the words were said, the fire turned sky blue and broke to countless pieces which then flew all across the forest with frightening speed.

Shortly after, Kyu and Len came back and reported to Master. And at the same time a thought transmission from Fol came, informing Master of the condition of the villagers.

“Is that so… okay… thank you Fol, good job. I’ll contact you when I’m done. Kyu, Len…”

With a pretty grim expression he called for his two companions, which in turn also tensed up.

“It seems… our decisions are correct… ‘they’ are into us…”

Len’s and Kyu’s expression became more tense as they hear what Master said.

“Luckily the villagers are safe, and ‘their’ incoming squad is not ‘them’. So if we hurry we can still leave undetected.”

When they heard this, they loosened up and they threw a low sigh before their atmosphere change back to being determined.

“Master! ‘Their’ movement have become faster! It looks like they managed to track your location! Prepare for combat! They will arrive in 1 minute!”

Suddenly Fol’s agitated voice appeared from the other side of the transmission. This unexpected change in ‘their’ movements must have surprised Fol by a stretch since she lost quite the amount of her usual cheerfulness.

“One minute?! Okay! Thank you Fol! Kyu! Len! Get ready for combat! Don’t attack before I give the signal!”

Master turned his heel to the house while he gave orders to his companions.

Then he took off his dagger and stabbed the house with it.

“Puella amat!”

He chanted a short aria and the house then absorbed into the dagger in a flash of pale blue light.

He put back his dagger, and shortly after several tens of presence appeared from the surrounding trees. One of them, a bald man while lowering his hood walked forward and greet Master with a friendly smile plastered on his face.

“Good morning..! You are the resident here right? Even though the sun is not out yet… what’s the hurry? Maybe guilt? Or fear? After all the things you did to ‘them’, surely you wo-”

“Shut your mouth!!! Why are you here… depending on your answer…”

Master cut the bald man’s word off before he could finish with a cold gaze.

The word ‘guilt’ and ‘fear’ ticked Master in the wrong place, this made him lose control of his emotion for a short time.

The bald man then laugh with a friendly atmosphere surrounding him while the rest of the black clothed men watch in silence.

Master watched this with a fed up expression before he replied.

“If you have no business here then… leave! I don’t have time to indulge in your mess!”

Master then turned his back and walk to the other side.

“RAMA!!!”

He shouted a name which make Master stopped his advance.

“My employer said to tell you this name!”

“So you knew of that name…”

He bit his lips until blood flowed from it. Then he turned his back and look straight at the bald man, his cold gaze had a dangerous glint on them.

“Tell me what do you know of this personage, my employer wish to know desperat-”

At that moment, he, Master shined lightly and disappeared- no, he vanished from where he was standing leaving a slightly blue trail of light behind.

This shocked everyone present at that place except for his companions which readied themselves.

And before anyone could notice, his voice appeared from above where the bald man is standing.

“He is dead!”

Master suddenly appeared from above and stabbed the bald man with two arrows, one on the shoulder and one on his back.

“Gohok!!!”

“This world… no… I killed him!”

He then vanished and appeared from behind the cloaked man that was standing on a tree and slit his throat with an arrow.

“Now!”

With his command, the two companions then proceed to attack while the other party is still shocked and confused at the impossible thing that was just happening in front of them.

‘T-teleportation!!!’ Is what filled the heads of the men at this moment.

Horn that was composed of mana appeared from Kyu’s head and from it, multiple lightning bullet were shot towards the mercenaries.

The sounds of lightning being shot snapped some of the mercenaries and they are able to dodge by a hair’s breadth, while the rest of them are pierced perfectly on their heart and died on the spot.

“Tch! The rest of you! Fix formation! Do not let- gahck!”

Before the mercenary finished saying his order- no , even before any of them able to stand up, they are shot in the neck with arrows from above.

And from the direction where the arrows were shot, Master was there with a slightly deflated Len on his shoulder.

Prior to this, Len shot herself to the air using her skill by making a makeshift bow using a piece of her body, while Kyu shot the consecutive lightning bullet. And after Len reached her peak height, Master teleported himself to where she is and shot the multiple arrows at the same time while he is still in the air.

A perfect coordination and marksmanship.

Master put the bow back and landed safely with a light *thud*.

None of the mercenaries are spared.

He had a distant expression while he slowly stood up.

Then, with a slightly weak voice he shouted.

“How long are you going to continue this game of yours… Valkuria!!!”

With a tormented expression, he looked at the corpses, before he shift his gaze to the sky… seemingly holding back his tears.

Kyu trotted closer to Master and rubbed her head on his hand, while Len climbed his shoulder and patted it by lightly jumping up and down, both of them trying to cheer him up.

Realizing what his two companion are doing, Master smiled and patted their head while telling them that he is okay.

“Fol, we are going as planned… get to rendezvous point as soon as you are ready.”

“Okay… Master…”

“What is it?”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I am… don’t worry, just return safely you hear?”

“I’m sorry I can’t be of help to you at times like this…”

“Don’t be… you are helping plenty already. No matter what… you are also my precious companion… my precious friend.”

Master said this with a slightly weak smile on his face. Guessing what Fol was saying, Kyu let out a cheerful grunt while Len wiggle left and right energetically.

“G-geez Master… you are making me blush! You are such a beast, Master! I’ll be there in a jiffy~! Wait for me okay?”

“Yeah.”

After making a few more flirty comments Fol finally cut off the thought transmission, while Master smiled softly at her behavior.

He then looked at Kyu and Len.

“Well then… shall we go?”

The both of them nodded and set their gaze at the place where their house were once stood, before leaving, following the back of their master.
