Book 1: Chapter 3: There’s trouble at the Shrines

Rewinding back to just before Gaël and Amaterasu arrived on Lurra. In a temple at the top of a mountain, in Tsukuyomi’s domain, a nine tailed Kitsune girl with Black hair and Purple eyes named Yuna. Her body was toned and defined through hellish training, wearing a Kunoichi outfit and a Katana on her waist. She was kneeled at attention to Tsukuyomi with her head down. The night was black outside with no moon in the sky and it was almost morning. The room they were in was lit via torches on opposite sides of the hall and a chandelier with candles on the ceiling. A grey carpet was leading from the back of the room to the entrance. Tsukuyomi was currently in the middle of a rant.

“I bet she’s gone to watch her new Boy Toy, what in my father’s name is so special about him?” Sensing this was a rhetorical question, Yuna stayed silent, her tails were just swishing back and forth as she listened to him. Yuna had been listening to the man for nearly two hours without complaint. Only wondering why her God had requested an audience with her. It was then the Moon had finally lit up in the sky, revealing its low position. Signifying morning was arriving soon and the sky had become much brighter than usual. “Oh? Look, Yuna, the sky is much brighter this morning. I wonder what that woman is so happy about?” Yuna lifted her head to look at the sky, it was as her God had said. The sky was a clear dark blue, the Moon was back in the sky, though low on the horizon. She turned back to see Tsukuyomis’ confused face, but only for a second before returning her head to the ground. Tsukuyomi noticed this and just sighed. “How many times do I have to tell you this Yuna? You need to relax more, I’m not going to punish you just for what you consider as ‘disrespectful actions’.” He did wish she would relax around him from time to time. It’s clear that she had a strong loyalty to her superior but she was far too stiff for his tastes. The man didn’t have anyone he considered a friend, so he would often call her out to sit there and listen to him talk. He asked her thoughts on things but she never revealed them. It was at this point he sat back in his throne and thought.

After a few moments went by, he straightened up and lifted his head.

“Yuna, I have two missions for you.” Yuna stood at attention, focused on what her God had to say. Tsukiyomi had white, long hair with a silver crown on his head. He was wearing a white Haori jacket and loose Black Hakama pants. He had small and thin crescent moon blades at his waist. Their size was reduced and changed to symbolise the moon cycle and how the moon looked in the sky. Her God’s face was serious. This wasn’t a common emotion he had these days. He was either angry or depressed. Usually about the divorce that happened about 500 or so years ago. Probably longer since Yuna forgot when he told her when his divorce happened. After taking all this in the split second she saw him, her God carried on.

“Your first mission and main priority is an investigation into our clan. I have reason to believe that there’s a sect of Shinto priests who are taking advantage of their positions, and are causing the citizens a great amount of grief. I don’t know what they are doing. I can just sense the malice that’s located near the domain of Taiyō. I want you to subjugate the leader of this sect and bring him to me. While you’re investigating, I want you to keep an eye on any suspicious activity going on at Amaterasu’s domain. I’m worried about what my dear ex-wife is doing. It’s her fault her domain has grown so small from negligence. Monitor the people who leave and enter the border town of Esta. If the sky is anything to tell me. It’s that Amaterasu has found what she’s looking for and I want you to find out who this person is. I also want you to find out how strong he is. We cannot live without the sun in the sky for too long, so it’s imperative that we make sure that Amaterasu doesn’t leave this world again. Do you understand?”

With a deep bow, her tails sank to the ground in respect and responded clearly in a calm tone.

“I understand, I will carry out this mission swiftly.”

Tsukuyomi had a small smile on his face. It dropped as Yuna was going to leave though.

“Wait, Yuna, before you go.” Yuna stopped and circled around. “If possible I would like you to try and make an alliance with Amaterasu. Help her out if she allows you to. It’s unlikely this would happen considering her personality but at least make an offer. If she refuses then you can just respect her decision and leave.”

“As you command.” As she said that, she turned around and disappeared into the shadows without a trace. Tsukuyomi sat back on his throne and looked into the sky. Breathed deeply, taking in the fresh air from the sky. His final thought on this matter was: ‘I hope it was worth the negligence and pain you have caused everyone’.

Back to the present day.

My training has progressed ten fold and it just kept on getting more difficult as it went on. It didn’t take long to get one fireball under control. I had been able to grow a second fireball under my control and now Amaterasu had me working on a third. This wasn’t all I was doing though, Amaterasu had me sparring with her in the afternoon. Learning a martial art I could only describe as a combination between Aikido, Judo and Bojutsu. It had been 7 weeks since I landed in this world and I was able to coat my fists and legs in my fire to increase the power of my strikes. She had also taught me how to create weapons, such as a spear using the power of my flames. It was a solid metal staff with a long pointed head at the end. Its shaft was black with a blade made of gold. Commenting on this, she said.

“As you become more accustomed to your power and as I slowly release the locks on your blessing. Your mark on the back of your hand will grow further around your arm and will surround your body. It’s also designed to not be visible when you’re not using your power. So you will need a man-made spear to hide your gift you have been born with.”

This mark of my blessing she was talking about. Were two black circles on the backs of my hand, one had 4 arrows pointing in the cardinal directions on my left hand. On my right it had 3 arrows, one in the north, east and west. She had also explained the reason I was able to create weapons was due to her power as a Goddess. The power to create, although I’m only limited to weapons. I would never be allowed to create life other than the good old fashioned way of reproduction. This restriction was implied even with the power of my blessing fully unlocked. I’m not a god after all.

Looking down at my body I noticed my muscles in my arms and legs have become more defined. My chest had become wider and I had noticed a six pack forming on my stomach and my legs had grown wider from increased muscle mass. I wonder if I had grown taller as well, I couldn’t tell as I had no way to measure.

“So, I know I’ve become stronger in the short amount of time I have been here but isn’t my body developing too fast?”

Amaterasu had noticed and she absolutely loved it. Gaël had been growing at a much faster pace than expected. Soon, he would be able to leave this place to fulfil her wish. This was done entirely on his own effort and hard work that he had put in.

“This result you’re seeing right now is from your hard work that you have put in and the diligence you have exercised. It is indeed faster than I expected. Soon, you will be a match for the wilderness out there. You will get your precious meat you have been after these past couple of weeks.”

My mouth had drooled at the thought of it. I couldn’t wait to get out there and hunt for some meat, it had been too long since I last had a good Burger or Steak. Amaterasu laughed at the sight of this and proceeded to move onto this morning’s magic lesson.

“Now that your morning meditation has ended, we’re going to move onto the next lesson in controlling your magic. Though you must carry on your meditation every morning to keep your magic control in check, I’m going to teach you how to heal yourself. I want you to create a knife and then slice your hand. Afterwards, once you get over the initial pain. I want you to focus your aura from your heart, through your veins like you normally would from creating your fireballs into your hands and then imagine your wound closing and healing.”

I did as commanded and created a knife. Hesitation sunk in immediately at the sight of the combat knife I imagined on the internet. It had the same colour scheme as my spear. The nerves set in my stomach and I tensed up. A few seconds later I grew warm and Amaterasu sent her feelings of comfort into me to help me relax. A few moments of breathing later, I sliced my right hand. I knelt down in pain, I felt like I wanted to scream. Tears welled up into my eyes as I bit my lips. I put pressure onto the wound and then started to focus my power. Breathing slowly I could feel my power travelling through my left arm as the mana travelled through the arteries. My muscles were completely tense. What came out of my left hand was an aura of fire. It was calm and it felt good. A fuzzy sensation filled both of my hands and the pain was subsiding slowly. A few minutes had gone by and the pain had left completely. I lifted my left hand to look at my wound. Sure enough the wound had gone because of my magic.

Falling to my knees. Letting go of my knife made it disappear completely. I blacked out due to exhaustion, as I had used a lot of magic already today. First from meditating and healing magic I can now use. It felt like I had done a hundred push ups and pull ups without stopping, and all I could do was fall unconscious.

Getting over her initial shock from seeing the pain of what her descendant had put himself through. She was amazed at how quick he was able to heal himself. Amaterasu had expected him to fail but sure enough, Gaël had managed to heal himself. With enough practice he would be able to exercise this power easily and be able to heal any wound on himself or anyone else. The small glow on his right hand didn’t escape her eyes either. There was the 8th ray of light on Gaël’s blessing that had formed.

Later that day.

I had woken up feeling better than ever. A not so heavy weight on my chest, all I could hear was quiet breathing and the sounds of birds chirping in the air. The trees were swaying in the wind. I looked down slightly to see smooth and silky black hair. Amaterasu was sleeping soundly using my chest as a pillow. I wrapped my arms around her and held her tightly. A strong emotion enveloping me, I didn’t want to let her go. I felt possessive and protective over my Goddess, never wanting any kind of pain to come to her. The sensation of comfort was conveyed between both of us but I knew I had to get back up and train.

“Amat, I need to get up, could you wake up please?”

“Hmmmm” She groaned sensationally and her smooth legs wrapped around me tightly, not wanting to let me go. She even pressed her large breasts into me that I could only imagine them being somewhere along the lines of G cups. Whatever they were, they were definitely tempting me to stay in bed for longer.

Eventually, I had to gently pry her off of me to get up to train when we both heard two animals roar. It sounded like it wasn’t too far away either.

There was a loud crash in the distance.

Trees were being knocked over and it sounded like it was getting closer. Amaterasu sat up immediately. She used her magic to immediately dress her up in her usual Goddess attire. Her body was quickly enveloped in flames and dissipated just as quickly revealing her in her clothes.

“Amat, how safe is this shrine? Have you ever had animals get this close before?” I was cautious and on full alert as I asked, never removing my sight from where the crashes and the roars were coming from.

“This has never happened before, consider this a rare and exceptional circumstance, something I’m highly suspicious of. I think this is the work of someone else.” After a little thought, Amaterasu turned to me and used her flaming magic on me, she then dressed me in what appears to be heavy combat armour. It didn’t feel heavy despite how it looked.

“Is this what I think it means?” I turned to her after observing the changes. She nodded her head and smiled.

“Indeed, we’re going to put your combat skills to the test, you’re forbidden from using your gift though. Your spear is the only thing that’s allowed. Your test is to take out those monsters without allowing too much of the forest and the shrine to be destroyed, or yourself and I being killed.”

That was all she needed to say before I spawned my spear. I put in a lot of magic and my spear had grown to be more impressive than before. It looked like a double ended harpoon that I normally use to fish with. The staff was about 6ft long with the blades on both ends extending it an extra foot on both ends. After that without a moment to lose I ran off to complete my test. Mouth salivating at the thought of what would be my dinner tonight.
