Massaging the burrows of his frown, he let the feel of mana leaving his body again and just heaved a deep sign.
Today, a carriage taken from the Rust-Irons needed to be refurbished,
There were over half a dozen fired up familiars who volunteered to do the job and the general cleaning was done with so much enthusiasm that the wood varnish almost chipped! It was Tarsus, the Dwarven leader of the Foot Unit who actually lead the group. Not only cleaning, they even started improvising.
The result, the simple wagon turned into a black carriage of death with skull pattterns and miasma surging from who knows where. On top of that, it became cursed!
Aiven rechecked the chains attached on the wagon and didn't mind the creaking sounds it creates from time to time even when no one was touching it. From his appraisal, the [Cursed] mark was definitely on its stats and a building urge to lash again at the familiars came to him again.
So far it hasn't moved an inch.
For some reason or another, the curse made the cargo move on its own. But only when it actually has a passenger on it.
Empty as it was now, it looks like any funeral carriages you'll see in Cessine.
Unfortunately, the carriage was too slow to be of any use and it has an obssession to crash itself towards cliffs!
"Well if we needed cliffs, we could just use it to find one?"
[Simos, why would WE need cliffs?! What kind of freaked out situation would we need cliffs?!]
“Lady Mieu could purify this later."
“No,” Aiven replied sternly.
Acting oblivious to Aiven, Simos continued pressing on the curse issue. “What are you planning?”
“A horseless vehicle.” Looking at the runes of the curse, he might be able to find a way to create an autolocomotive vehicle without the continous expend of fuel or mana.
Creating motors was impossible for him, even if he has the blueprint, it would be hard to fuel in a long run. Oil was hard to refine by one person and there was no way he would resort to mana-powered vehicles! So much waste! He'd rather walk.
But this thing...a carriage that propels itself on its own. Just trigger the curse and the hex runes would do the rest of the work.
He placed his hand the body of the wagon, the wheels were well-made, the balance was light and there was even a spring on the suspension to lessen the drag of the body. Despite appearances, it was a great wagon. He can't wait to start fiddling with it.
He continued eyeing the cursed carriage and for some reason the chains rattled violently.
Could it sense what he is thinking? Nah, impossible.
"""We deeply apologize!"""
The Undead kneeled infront of them. And just like before, Aiven didn't took note who they were and just collectively called them as the Foot Unit since Tarsus was with them. The bulky full armored dwarf with dreadlocks and rings on his hair has his head in the lowest compared to the others. He took a deep blow from this setback. He was a blacksmith before and this was the sort of work expected of him but he failed his mistress.
Aiven waved his hand in dismissal and went to his scolding, "Enough of that. From now on, all Familiars would not touch any of the supplies." Then he eyed the Dwarven. "You. Delica said you still have your living memories, teach me how to fix and maintain carriages. Smithing too."
At least they now know anything the Undead created will be cursed, in any menial craft whatsoever. So all the odd-jobs still fall into his shoulders. Really useless.
"Pffft, with your skinny arms? Forget about maintenance, you won't even be able to sink a nail, Lesser Master" Tarsus said. His head was still down and his expression was still that of regret contrasting to the arrogance of his voice.
Argh. He also need to raise his charisma over the Familiars. The way he addressed Aiven shows he was looking down on him but he ignored it. He was really starting to hate Undead Creatures.
"I'll do it. I'll just have to patch up the canvass and clean the frame and suspensions right?"
"Leave it. You have work to do. Cleaning and stuffing tar between the seams of the body would take more than a day."
And there's only two of us who are not Undead here who could work on it!
Thankfully they still have more than ten wagons stored in the black box, though it was covered in blood and the canvass cover were tattered. But with his class, the canvass wouldn't be a problem.
It's the tar that he needed to worry about. It was to make the wagon waterproof when they have to cross rivers. The wagon was actually not that important but going on foot to the Runsaer would be problematic. People would question their travelling methods especially with a child in tow.
"I understand." Simos replied while having a complicated expression.
Aiven can't just leave these menial tasks to his friend. It hasn't been long but Simos already has his hands full for these past days. Afterall Simos was practically leading the Undead Familair.
As for him, most of the miscellaneous job fall into his hands--inventory cleaning, cooking, equipment mainternance, mapping, etc. But he actually has a lot of free time compared before.
During afternoons, Aiven would go to a corner and start skill grinding.
Using needles on people opened a new set of skills,[Acupuncture] which was one of the skill sets of [Needlework] on Undead has its own uses. [Acupuncture] enables him to see passed the mana points to add health. However, there seems to be no functioning mana nodes to be found on the Undead's meridians (since technically all their bodily functions are dead). But since their [Phylacteral] acts as their whole mana system, their soul gem pulse like a giant mana node for him to locate. He could use this skill to pinpoint the exact location of their weak points. Which was pretty neat if he wants to take them out one by one.
So far, he can't use his [Craft Command]. Not without the proper processing of materials. This was not the same the synthesizing method in alchemy or runecrafting in scribes where you could just read some instructions and you are good to go. Without a master to teach him the basics, he has to work on what he could do.
This was getting frustrating.
Aiven start off casting with his [Clothe Appraisal]. He used outleveled garbs and leather items on his own inventory. and try to assess the materials.
Using this skill, he was able to identify the raw materials and items for his class.
If not for this exercise, he wouldn't know the existence of Runecloth, Knothide, Windwool, Hexweave, Mooncloth among others. All of which, he has no idea what for.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
He could guess their properties, but appraisals could only go this much. Even researching wouldn't help him. None of his books ever mentioned these materials from his extensive book collection!
Artisans always kept their secrets closed which was such a pain in the ass.
The one he could do with ease was [Dismantle] though. Obviously since taking pieces out was much easier than piecing them together.

Congratulations
You've unloacked Tailoring Skill Set IV: Clothe Scavenging
Due to displaying undeniable skill in extracting materials, you are now able to salvage raw materials exclusive to textile arts
Another tailoring skill huh, this was pretty useful.
He would be able to unravel the materials needed in the equipment creation.
He took out his [Beginner Mage Cloak] and tried the skill on. So far was able to extract two manabeast's fur, embersilk thread and black leather.
To make [Fur], he'll have to extract two manabeast's pelt. That's easy enough. For the [Black Leather], he'll have to create at least three black fur (from Garmhounds, Shadowfangs, etc.). Unfortunately, he has no idea where he would even start looking for some [Embersilks]. What in Frear was an Ember anyway? And how would you get silk from it?
He continued studying each materials from dismantling the items, then afterwards he tried to reverse engineer the damn thing. Unfortunately even evoking his [Repair Command] do not work. He can't repair it since it's not broken.
He tried activating his [Craft] command and he felt the mana expended, but then, he would have no idea what to do. He tried stacking the materials and place his hands on them while activating the crafting skill, but nothing happened.
Now what? His Basic Sewing Toolkit didn't come with a manual, he checked it for the nth time already.
Argh, total pain in the ass.
So getting back with his reverse engineering bit, Aiven went back to the materials on his hand and tried sewing the old-fashioned way.
He cursed, and flung the thing on the floor. And cursed some more with a force that matched the growing frustration inside him.
Then as if a heavy feeling backlashed on his outburst, he sighed and took up the materials again and resumed his craft, knowing he only have himself to blame for the situation of his class and it was up to him to make use of it, if ever he had the chance to do so in the future.
It's a bit awkward getting the hang of it and some passing armored Undead who would go inside the earth cabin and would gape at him for a second before abruptly straightening his body and march back to where he came from. There would be a few coming in now and then, but after the fourth one, no one ever came to his sight.
Were those rabbit ears? Ah, whatever.
The silence was really calming.
Your [Concentration] level up
Waving the window notification away, he went back at the obsessively repeatitive work. At least he had that for compensation. During the sewing, he also used his [Drafting] and [Thread Guide] to make his stitches even and clean. Same principle as with his scroll-making, a pattern would lock itself on the [Black Leather] and he just need to follow it with his needles. He simply played puzzle as he piece it where the [Fur] and [Embersilk] should be.
When he finished, he was looking over the piece of equipment. His first product. Could he say that this was his first product? He just shreaded and piece the thing back together so it's a bit sketchy whether he could claim it as his.
With all the mundane works of a tailor, he had forgotten about his current status. Especifically, the negative effects of his [Title] as "Butcher of Silk Button."
He glanced at his work, his brows frowning deeper in confusion as he appraised the cloak one more time and found nothing. Just like before, his [Deranged Status] as a crafter should gave him a 5% fail ratio. Shouldn't it have been triggered by now? But he did a manual labour of it without using his mana...well aside from using patternmaker skills.
At his appraisal the [Mage Cloak] that was crafted under was overwritten with a simple text.
Please Insert Seal
[Butcher of Silk Button]
Oh so the only thing different was that he could claim one equipment as his. Did he just turned to plagiarism?
So much for patents.
He allowed mana to move over the runes and took out a few words so it wouldn't feel so brutal.
Silk Button. Sounds harmless enough.
You have crafted
Beginner Mage Cloak
STATUS: additional n/a Armor 3 Life Bonus 0 Melee Critical 1.1% Ranged Critical 1.1% Magic Critical 1.1%
Oi? What is this? The stats were actually better than the original!
Aiven was still surprised at the result when another notification window appeared.
You've acquired
[Beginner Mage Cloak Blueprints]
He immediately opened his [Clothes Templates] and right under it were the blueprints for the [Beginner Mage Cloak].
Amazing! The crafted templates stayed on his command window. He must be the only one in the world to get excited about this, but really, these revelations was a big moment for his class.
Basically aside from finding a way to by pass the fail ratio from his Deranged Status, overwriting items to claim as his own, he could steal other people's designs!
Somehow Aiven started laughing. He was a known fugitive anyway, stealing would at the bottom of his list of crimes. This time, he really could go for forging!
Time to get my hands on some invisbility cloak, dragonscale vest...what else?
With his mind going over the list of mythological class items, he grabbed another equipment and levelled up his [Clothes Scavenging] skill.
All his free time afterwards was spent dismantling and restitching all the clothes in their inventory up to the intermediate levels. If he tried to reverse engineer Superior Tier or Calamity Tier-level items, his needle would break.
As expected. he still need to raise his class.
He was able to balloon his blueprints to fifty templates.
Before he could call it a day, he just need to try crafting something first.
From his inventory, Aiven held out the raw materials in creating a Mage Cloak. He has some black leathers and pelts. He processed the pelts and made a fur out of it through refining and harvesting. He has to make an improvisation for the Embersilk Therad, so he took out some Leafsilk Thread that was a dropped item from some giant Silkwood Catterpea.
Now that he has all the materials, he looked over the [Beginner Mage Cloak Blueprints] and patterned the design on the materials. He cut out the pattern and he sewed.
During the whole process, he got the [Skill Set I: Cut], [Skill Set III: Binding] and [Skill Set IV: Contouring] to level up..
You have crafted
