Chapter 4. Bandits Massacre

Chapter 4. Bandits Massacre

In a peaceful and calm area in the side of the country, there were 2 people walking side by side with each other on a clear road with its surroundings filled with hills upon green hills.. One is a black haired emerald eyed girl wearing a black trench coat with a sword hilt by her waist. She was a superb beauty who can enchant any gender whether they were male or female. Her movements and steps had a specific feeling of it. This is because she is having her guard up at all times as she observes the surrounding area for any possible assaults of any kind, guarding the person next to her.

The person who was being protected by that fine woman, was a figure wearing a black robe along with a black hood on his head. His face couldn’t be described as a white mask with only 2 eye holes covers his face. Whether or not this was meant to cover his ugly face, decent face, or handsome face, no one knows. But there is one thing that cannot be denied right now. Those 2 aren’t ordinary people.

However, there were a group of 20 people, all male wearing leather pants, a chain vest, and were holding some kind of weapon. Bow, Sword, Staff, you can name it.

They were all surrounding the area of the 2 people. Despite a human having deteriorated instincts compared to an average animal, they could feel [Danger] from those 2 people walking along with each other, but it was mostly coming from the beautiful woman. The masked figure doesn’t give of such an aura, yet it feels as if he have a lot of self-confidence in himself. His attire was definitely strange as no one would usually wear a mask unless they were part of an organization of a sort.

Nevertheless, these bandits ignored their instincts which was screaming at them to consider the actions they are about to take. This is due to the fact the woman next to the masked figure was extremely beautiful. Not many could compare to the figure and superb facial features of this woman. With such a meeting upon the woman, no male would be stupid enough to not take the opportunity to court with her, or maybe even forcefully spend time with her….

“Bylem, is your group in position. We need to make sure we secured all the possible escape routes.”

A man dressing up just like the other bandits, was pressing his left index and middle finger on his side of the head. He was using the commonly used and effective message spell which allows one person to call another person within a specific distance depending on their mastery and mana consumption of the spell, and both of these is what this man has. It is similar to the cell phone.

“We have finished positioning behind them and cut of their escape route. The magic negation barrier has also been prepared, but Boss, isn’t this a bit too much for just 2 people? This is going overboard. Surely just a few of us can handle them.”

Bylem, who just receives the message, replied;questioning whether so much preparations were necessary. The Boss which was the one who first send the message, had made his subordinates to position themselves around the area in an oval like shape, hiding behind the hills. This geography area is an ideal place to attack and rob people on the roads. This was quite known throughout the nearby settlements, but occasionally there would be foolish ones who ignores such warnings and took the dangerous road which so happens to be one of the quickest ways to reach a certain Kingdom which was known for their military assets, Kloara.

Though it was very common knowledge even in the Kingdom, there was no mission by the authorities to get rid of the bandits. This is mostly due to the fact no matter how many times a squad of highly-skilled individuals in the army were to search and eradicate those bandits, new ones just keep appearing. They were pests who never seems to die.

That being said, the Kingdom of Kloara didn’t necessarily given up on this. Quests such as bandit-subjugations were given to the Adventurer’s Guild so they may deal with it. Of course, with the risk of death included, there was a reasonable reward for the completion of it. Proof of it is magically recorded with a spell within a wristband every adventure would wear.

“ Bylem my friend, to the inexperienced eye, those 2 may seem weak;however, they are not as they are. It is very deceiving. Especially the woman. Despite her slender body and limbs, just by the way she walks, a veteran can detect the experience emitted by her body. She isn’t a simple girl.”

Though this Boss may have said this and have much experience in observing the enemy’s capabilities in combat and skill through the many incidents he faced, his estimations were still slightly off the mark. However, this was unknown to him.

“.....If you say so Boss. Although that girl seems to be an expert in her class, how about that masked person. Doesn’t it strike you a weird feeling?”

The Boss once again focuses his gaze onto the white masked figure who was casually walking with no care in the world what will happen to him.

“..No...no matter how much I look at him, his movements are completely unrefined for a fighter. Especially with that black robe he’s wearing. Fighting in close-combat requires you to have as much free movement as possible. The robe is in the way. Not very smart. If he was a magician or an archer, he should have it somewhere on his body, but there was none I could detect. He doesn’t strike me as a dangerous individual at all Bylem.”

“...I understand. When are we going to start the operation Boss?”

“Why in the rush? We have lots of time to attack.”

“~Yeah….but just looking at that irresistible beauty is so difficult~.”

Hearing his old friend and comrade whining made the Boss slightly smile.

“Don’t be concerned my friend, you will be the first to enjoy the time with her.”

“~Hehehe, thanks Boss. I will thoroughly enjoy this one for a long time.~”

With that the Bandit Boss cancels the message magic and began calling the other groups to get ready. They are about to start the operation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently, in the afternoon, 2 people were taking their time strolling towards the Kingdom.

If they have yet to realize their situation, there were 15 bandits separated into groups of 4 with just one of them having 3, closely coming nearer each second. Normally, a regular person would immediately order the attack and hope the prey wouldn’t have enough time to react and take actions well. However, the leader of the bandit group was no ordinary one after all. His motto is the silently and slowly kill the prey before they even realize what is happening. If looking at the numbers between the predator and prey, it was obvious which one had the advantage.

“Group-1, how close are to our target?”

“20 meters Boss.”

“Group-2?”

“Also approximately 20 meters.”

“Good, both of you shall now use your abilities and stealthily kill the mask man. As for Group-3, Bylem, order your men to cast sealing spells onto the woman.”

“ Of course.”

The leader of the bandits was currently the closest to the 2 figures along with his squad. Having to do this hundreds of times before in his life, he is very calm and calculating in his work.

His class is a normal warrior one, but he has trained his skills very thoroughly and also practiced using utility magic such as speed increase and strength increase, scout, message, and other important skills necessary for survival in this world. This caused him to be respected by many including his subordinates, as being a hybrid fighter who can use some sort of magic along with his trained class.

Normally, a warrior couldn’t learn a magic skill, but sometimes their are exceptions as there are magic swordsmen and the such. However, a ordinary swordsman learning magic is extremely rare as their affinity with magic is usually low.

So despite being a regular or normal fighter, with the use of magic, the Boss of the group could rival that of a magic swordsmen, if just slightly weaker.

Right now, group 1 and 2 were people trained in the assassin class, and were using their stealth ability to slowly get nearer to the 2 figures. There were a few parts to the plan. If the assassins failed in their task, they were to immediately position themselves in a formation where the prey had no way to flee out without fighting through. If the prey decided to fly, the magic sealing barrier would nullify the magic. The Boss would then join in the fight and oppress the prey. If somehow they were to escape, another group would be there and interfere.

it was a carefully elaborated plan.

As the Boss awaits for his assassin squad to come quickly kill the mask man, he lifts up his eyebrow when nothing has yet to occur. It was strange. Some time has passed when he ordered the squad to attack. Concerned about this, he noticed something felt wrong. He doesn’t know why, but his skin were starting to have goosebumps while his crouching legs were trembling.

‘What is this? Something definitely isn’t right.’

Activating his message spell, he called Group-1 and 2 once again.

“Group-1, group-2, why haven’t you attacked yet?”

No reply.

“Group-1, group-2, hurry up and answer me!”

Hissing in irritation, he decides to call his old friend.

“Bylem.”

In response, his friend’s voice was heard, “Hmmp? Boss, why are you calling now? We are still in the middle of the operation?”

“....Bylem, have you noticed anything of from where you are?”

The Boss had positioned his friend’s group to be the watcher of the situation and then only take action if somehow their targets were getting away.

“..No Boss. Did something went wrong?”

“....I am unable to contact with the assassin squad. They don’t seem to be able to respond to me….I believe they may have been killed.”

Waiting for a response, there was only silence.

Noticing this, the Leader began feeling cold sweat down his back.

“Bylem? Hey Bylem! Answer me! Hey!”

Silence

‘Goddamnit, what is going on. And what is with this mist, it is in the fucking afternoon right now.’

‘Wait…….. Mist?’

Only just noticing the mist surrounding the area, I grew concerned.

“Boss, what is going?”

His personal squad members were looking at him with worried expressions.

“Wait just a moment, I am trying to understand our situation right now.”

He turns to see if the prey were still there, and where the 2 figures who should have been slowly walking, wasn’t there on the road.

‘!’

‘We were caught!’

“Everyone! Get out now!”

Shouting at his subordinates, they immediately obeyed and ran, not questioning his decision, showing their trust with their leader.

The Boss also began casting spells to increase his speed and used scouting magic.

Unfortunately, the scout magic wasn’t activating which was very strange. The magic sealing barrier were only suppose to be effective on selected targets before hand and he was not one of them.

Even more when he had an extremely valuable amulet that negates such abilities on him.

As he began running away from who knows what, he expected to see his squad to be in front of him since they began retreating first.

However, what he sees is just an empty grassy hill surrounded by mist, with no other thing there.

Fear begins to reach for his heart. Never once in his life did he met with such an absurd situation. All his members disappears. His friend just moments ago was answering his call until he also became silent. Nearly all 15 had vanished in a short amount of time.

These thoughts filled his head with worry and fear. He desperately ran with absolutely no knowledge of his current situation. Running over the hills, he didn’t stop. If he had flying magic, maybe it could somewhat settle his heart down, but that magic was an extremely advanced spell where only magicians such as the warlock can use. His affinity and class doesn’t meet up the requirements.

As he ran over the hill, what he sees down it made his heart skipped many beats. Just below the path of the hill, a bunch of bodies lay on top of one another. Each and everyone of them had a thin cut through their skulls and hearts.

‘No…..this can’t be…..’

The corpses laying on top of each other, were in fact, his subordinates of his group.

His breathing gets rougher in each passing second, his eyes getting wider. He knew he should start running despite his sadness for his comrades, but his legs were unable to move. As he thought of that, something within him screamed to bring out his sword and look behind him, instantly obeying, he quickly taken out his sword within his hilt and blindly swung as he turns around.

In front of him appears a black haired slender young girl, holding a thin sword which despite it looking fragile and weak, had sliced through his sword with ease, and went bisected his body as her sword descended upon him.

All went dark.

Slyphia

It has been 1 full day since my God has created me by his whims. My duty and existence is for the sake of protecting him and serving him as he pleases. Personally, even though I might get into trouble if I was to voice this out, he was very odd. God always seem to be sleeping or eating nonstop. Occasionally he would take out some objects and rings while putting something on it. I believe he may be bored with his life.

I never seen his face before, but I won’t ask him. A servant such as I should only serve God and nothing more. However, he treats me not what I would expect from a Master/Servant relationship.

‘You shall now be my companion.’

His voice echoes within my being.

I do not understand what he meant.

I am but his servant.

He continues to create strange objects. One such creation of his was one that covers his ears while being connected to a rectangular box.

While connected, God would nod his head continuously with the beat coming from that head object.

Well, it is not my place to inquire this about God.

We were inside a black sphere that was transporting us to [civilization], but midway, God decided to cancel his transportation device and began strolling on the road.

I don’t understand the profound reasons he have.

Nevertheless, I accompanied him as that is part of reason of my existence.

While we were casually walking down the clear road, I sensed hostility towards me and my master.

I activate my Radar programmed within me as I sensed the organisms called [humans] were slowly surrounding us.

Why do they want to attack God?

Do they have a hostile relation?

No matter, I shall protect him to the best of my abilities.

However, I believe God do not require my protection.

From how God has created me, he set my abilities to that of an assassin. One that specializes in detecting weak points and aiming for them through usage of skills to distract enemies, dealing high amounts of damage to them.

My passive ability could detect various weak points on an organism, displaying it in a color red, but when I looked towards God, there was absolutely none.

His whole body had none. Only showing the color green which defines defenses which cannot be penetrated or damaged in anyway possible.

Does it not mean he has no need for guards such as I?

------------------

The group of [humans] were slowly surrounding us.

God seems to have noticed too.

He looks at me and said, “Slyphia, deal with them.”

Just by that simple command, I immediately obeyed and began forging a plan how to remove the [humans].

I casted a skill which creates a fog in the area.

This is so visibility will become more difficult for God’s enemies.

The enemy were separated into 4 groups. One behind one hill in concealment.

The other 2 were approximately 20 meters away from us.

The last one was a bit farther away, probably a safe measure if the 2 nearest groups were to fail in their assault.

I activated another one of my abilities, Dark Steps, an ability allowing the me to move without creating sound while increasing my speed by double.

I have analyzed all the enemies and they were of no threat that could possibly harm harm me.

I quickly ended each of the [human’s] life with a stroke of the thin sword God has give me, named S-1.

Each of my thrusts and strokes went through either their skull which their control center is located, and the heart which was an important organ for them.

Most of the [humans] didn’t noticed they were attacked.

Nearly everyone of them died instantly.

I also used another one of my skills gifted from God, which allows me to transfer non-living objects to another location which i piled the dead bodies into one certain location.

This is so the [humans] wouldn’t comprehend their situation, thus making my task a bit easier by a certain percentage.

Although it wasn’t required, my data analysis tells me it would raise the chance of success from 99.9999996% to 99.99999999%.

However, the last one was slightly special.

He was the strongest of the whole group, but he still died quickly.

When I attacked behind him, he quickly pulled out his sword and swung to deflect my sword strike, but God’s created weapon is not something that can be blocked by a mere ordinary sword.

His sword was cut neatly off and ended up bisecting him in half.

God’s created weapon was bloodied.

Such a treasure has been dirtied.

I flicked the thin sword with fluid movements, shaking off the blood on it before it dries.

I will wash this later.

I looked at the [human] corpses which I had piled upon each other.

This is what you get for attacking God.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I returned to God.

“I’ve dealt with the enemies as you’ve ordered, Master.”

He turns towards me, and I can feel he was in a good mood right now despite not being able to see his expression due to his mask.

“That was a good show Slyphia. Thank you for dealing with those bandits. You have done well.”

My heart beats faster in response to his compliment.

What is this feeling?

I strangely feel nice.

I can feel my cheeks reddened slightly.

What is this feeling?
