Chapter 1

The clink of empty bottles smacking together are the first noises that sound off in his apartment. The pain of too many beers echo through his skull as he tries to ignore the horrible taste of his mouth. Sweat trickles down his back as he shivers. Neck cramping from passing out awkwardly on his couch he and slowly sits up straight and slowly opens his eyes.

Surprised that his roommate is not awake yet, and even more that bitch of a girlfriend of his isn’t complaining about him passing out drunk in the living room isn’t awake yet, lets him enjoy this hangover. Trying to drink away the flu last night might not have been the best idea but when everyone is sick in the city, nothing was open.

It had been 3 days since the blue screens appeared in front of his and everybody else’s eyes. Just thinking of it brought that annoying screen up.

Whatever caused it, was also causing people to get sick with flu like symptoms and in some instances even die. Gave blue screen of death a whole new meaning. The world was in an uproar, when these screens magically appeared, as nobody knew what was happening. Martial law was immediately enacted as every person had their own idea of what was happening. Personally, he didn’t care really what was happening as long as he didn’t die.

Pushing himself off the couch he stumbled to the bathroom desiring to wash the grime of sickness off his skin. Turning the water as hot as he could he let the steam build up, breathing in deeply.

A sense of balance washed over him. At first disorienting as he felt himself leaning slightly to the left. Sitting up straight he could feel himself center his gravity intuitively. Lifting up his hand felt graceful, standing up he felt as if he was floating. His balance so perfect that it was like a weird high almost floating as if nothing could pull him down. Pulling up his status screen he saw the change in it but was still confused to what it meant besides he was now a ballerina.

Standing naked enjoying the feeling of this new center of gravity he feels giddy with the changes ignoring everything else, including the shower.

Crashing sounds happen in the room next to his with a muffled voice then a scream erupting from his roommate’s room.

Wrapping a towel around his waist and opening the bathroom door in fluid motion, he steps out to see what all the commotion is about. His roommate Derek, rips open his bedroom door, holding his neck as blood pours between his fingers as he stumbles into Remi. Bowling Remi into the bathroom, Remi manages to pivot and hold Derek from knocking them both over as he lays him on the ground. Grabbing the towel from his waist, he presses against Derek’s hand telling he yells for help.

Growling noises come from behind as he pivots around to see his roommate’s girlfriend stepping into view of the bathroom door. Human flesh hung from her teeth, as the steam billow in front of her. Her skin tone not dyed in blood is and off grey color, with eyes whited out.

His friend’s flesh being chewed on by whatever his roommate’s girlfriend became, causes bile to rush up in his throat gagging him. His eyes squeeze tight as he fights the urge to vomit, he feels the weight of another landing on him. Like fluid he pivots under the weight and lets it brush past him as he stands up.

Turning to face his attacker that is now on top of Derek, he sees her biting into face as Derek soundlessly screams. Watching her rip his cheek friend’s cheek open, he grabs the toilet bowl lid and uses as a bludgeoning tool. Smashing the heavy porcelain into her skull, she is knocked free of Derek.

Derek’s flesh had lost all color as blood quit seeping from between his fingers. Looking at the she bitch that did this to him, her skull was partially caved in, yet she was still chewing on more of Derek’s flesh. Rage overtook him as he swung the heavy lid back into her skull finishing the job.

Zombie Killed

That infernal blue screen popped up again. The bluescreen blocking his view he felt a biting sensation on his shin. Reacting instinctively, he slammed the edge into what was biting him. The porcelain lid breaking in his hands. Shards of it embedding into his palms.

DING

Zombie Killed

Willing it away, he looked down at what has just happened. His leg was bleeding from a bite mark and Derek lay dead with a piece of porcelain embedded deep into his temple. Wrapping a clean towel around his bite wound, he knew what was going to happen to him. He would become a zombie now.

Limping nakedly back into the living room, he grabbed an open unfinished beer deciding to drink himself into oblivion. Chugging the warm flat beer, he grabbed another opening as he began to cry and drank it as fast as he could. Thinking that he might zombiefy faster than he could get drunk he went to the kitchen and grabbed the half bottle of Jaeger from the freezer and took the biggest pull he could manage. Gagging it down, he grabbed his head in pain, thinking it was the zombiecation and not a brain freeze he quickly went back to the couch and drank more. Feeling his stomach warm, and the fuzz of alcohol beginning to cloud his mind. A few more drinks and pulled up his status and blurily read it.
