Alex got out of the restaurant and heave a deep sigh.
Finally, he no longer had any problems regarding weapons. Although the price was setting aside his hatred for his father, He thought it was worth it. Of course, he wasn't gonna go take one today, he plans to wait till his father is gone from the city before going to the armory. Anyways, he still has enough bullets for one or two explorations.
"Whatever" He shook his head, just as he was about to go back to his apartment.
"Alex? Is that you?" A person called him,
Turning his head a bit.. he saw a woman with long black hair, glasses, and wearing a business suit.
"Christine? Been a while" Alex recognized the person. He met her, through another friend of his.
She was with a man, probably his co-worker.
"Yeah.. it's been a while. How are you?" She went closer to him. The man with her furrowed his brows in discomfort.
"It's been hectic but overall fine." She smiled hearing that and said...
"Hey.. we should catch up sometimes" The man beside her crossed his arms and got even more unsatisfied and eyed him, Of course, he couldn't care less.
"Yeah.. we should. Anyways. I still have somewhere to go, So do your own thing" After that Christine said her goodbye as Alex headed to where his scooter was.
When the man saw this, contempt flashed in his eyes.
Unaware and couldn't care, Alex headed back to his apartment.

"Is there anything good I can salvage in the abyss?" Alex asked while putting bullets in the magazine.
Iris wiggled its tentacle and transmitted its thoughts.
"I see, there are indeed.. but how can I know if that thing is good or not?"
Iris tentacles froze and dropped low.
"So you need to see it to understand it? Damn, But I can't take you with me in the abyss" Alex sighed, although his partner seemed disappointing, he knew Iris's abilities probably isn't as simple as appraising things.
Finishing with what he was doing he was only left with a couple of bullets, still, he wasn't worried. Alex readied himself, attaching magazines on his belt, one Molotov, and a sprat paint on his back.
The passage opened, and just when he was about to take a step forward, he took a glance at his right hand and saw that it was shaking, fear clouded his heart after what just happened.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
"Fuck that, fear ain't gonna do shit" He gritted his teeth as he proceeded forward and steeled his heart.
When he stepped out of the passageway, his right-hand throbbed.
"The abyss fragment shouldn't be too far from here"
He was close to his target. The place was the same as before, screams and noise still rang out all over the place.
He slowly headed forward while staying alert.
It seemed luck was shining on him today as a couple of minutes of walking, he still hadn't encountered any monsters.
Moments later, he heard a sound, this one was different from the other sounds that were like screaming and screeching, the sound was like something huge is hitting on something.
Alex slowly etched forward, he then saw a huge pillar of rock only about 3 meters thick blocking his path, thankfully it was only small, unlike the other time.
Alex reached it, crouched down, and look to see where the sound was coming from, when he saw it, he shivered as chills crept out of his spine.
It was a creature, unlike anything he'd seen before... It was like a giant worm, filled with nightmares. He could see, eyeballs, claws, and mouths all over its grotesque body, it was like all the nightmares were filled into one creature, it was thick probably more than a meter in diameter and more than 15 meters in length. Almost at the same time, his right hand throbbed much harder.
Alex was sure that this was the abyss fragment holder.
"How the fuck am I gonna kill that shit?" He thought. Then because the creature was just so horrifying it took him a moment to realize that creature was banging on something.
Their distance was only about 30 meters but because of the lightning it was a bit hard to see, but when Alex identified what it was, he sucked a cold breath...
It was a giant silver gate... When he saw that he remembered something. "Through these gates, monsters will come through and assimilate yours"
Sweat drenched his back seeing it. If that door is what he thinks it is then...
"That fucker is trying to open it"
Thud
Thud
Thud
Alex just watched for a couple of seconds, then he observed his surroundings and hid behind the pillar of rock. After a few seconds, he decided.
Taking a couple of deep breaths, He sidestepped, and cursed out loud...
"Fucker!" And pulled the trigger!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Alex stopped at the fourth shot and stared at the monster.... that didn't seem affected by his bullets.
Alex inhaled deeply 'either I suck at aiming or this thing is too tough!'
Nevertheless, he pulled the trigger again hoping to get a reaction, finally when he was at 13 shot, He saw black blood splattering a bit. and the large creature stopped.
He held his breath. The creature slowly turned in his direction, Alex saw its horrifying face, there was one large eye by its side and a human-like mouth. Then they met each other's eyes.
They locked eyes, for what seemed like an eternity. Then the creature twitched its mouth, it curled and...smiled...
Alex saw its eyes as if it found something interesting.
An unprecedented chill came to him, there was one thought that flashed into his mind... 'This thing... might be highly intelligent' Nevertheless his body didn't fail him as he pulled the trigger while slowly retreating.
"HEHH!!!" A strange terrifying screech rang out of its mouth and it plunged towards Alex.
Alex immediately ran not daring to face this thing. The distance between was down to only 20 meters.
Alex turned around intending to shoot it but what he saw made his heart jolt.
That thing was pretty fast!
Not having any choice, Alex hurriedly opened a passage and jumped into it, because he was close to the wall he could easily escape to it.
Inside the passage, he tried to close it, even though its huge body may not be able to enter it, he wasn't taking any chances...but when it was only 20cm in size, it stopped.
Alex then felt a resistance! This has never happened before, just when he was wondering why... there through the small passage, a huge eye the size of a basketball appeared.
Alex froze in horror when he saw this... "This thing.... can take control of the boundary walls?!" This time he was truly shaken up, the boundary walls were his safest space, and knowing that other creatures can control it as well, terrified him.
Immediately, he pointed his gun towards the eye and pulled the trigger until it ran out of ammo.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!

When he ran out of ammo he felt the resistance of his control of the walls disappear and the passage closed completely.
