Upon hearing my soft alarm, I lazily rolled over and dropped out of bed onto the soft pillow I keep on the floor. The temperature of the floor that leeched into the pillow helps me wake up while also letting me laze around for a little longer.  After trying but failing to find some reasons to stay on the mattress sized pillow, I started to get ready for another day at school. While being 17 and living alone in the U.S is hard, I try my best to look for some good points within the loneliness of my humble home.

Getting into my bathroom, which is anything but full; the lights turn on automatically. Seeing such a scene is commonplace nowadays. Making food in the morning is always a chore. No one likes doing it unless they enjoy the art of making wonderful food. As for me, my food can rival the best of the best. I’m not boasting here, scavenging your own materials really makes you appreciate how easy it is to gather food in this world. All you need to do is have some cash, and walk to your nearby grocery store. Easy to make food like eggs and toast are always great to make, so I go with that almost every single morning. This morning I thought it would be nice to spice things up a little bit since I haven’t had anything delicious in a while. While making something that would look like it would be the star showcase in a cooking show, the phone rang. Going to the lounge room beside the kitchen since the food is almost ready, I pick up the phone by being near the phone alone. The magic of M.S again. The call comes from out of state, so instead of picking up the phone, I let it go onto voicemail.

There is only a handful of people who know my home phone number, and even fewer who would be out of state. One person comes to mind almost immediately, and that person is the source of so many of my troubles that I find it easier to just ignore most of his ramblings and requests. While going back to the kitchen to finish making my favorite breakfast, I thought about how even if I ignore him now, he will get in touch with me sooner or later. I really hoped this year would be a bit tamer in comparison to my earlier years. After eating up a meal that could fill 5 grown men, I finally opened the curtains. The metal city that I reside in is certainly busy, even in the early morning. Los Angeles. After the gathering of many tech companies in the early 21st century, the city exploded with tech. It almost became the center of the whole world. While telling my HomeBot to clean my house while I'm away at school, a huge gathering of mana suddenly appears above the city. While looking up from my penthouse, with my enhanced eyes I can see a huge fireball with a tiny golden spot in the middle of the 10-meter flaming fireball. With it being so bright, and with the sun still halfway rising, the light produced and attention gathered was quite a bit. Even being one of the only beings on the planet that can directly sense and harness mana, I don’t think there are any beings on this side of the plane that can create such a spectacle. Suddenly the light from the fire turns so bright, that even me with my mana enhanced eyes couldn’t see a thing. The aftermath was quite mellow though, with nothing left in the sky, and a small warm egg nestled within my hands.
