Tria

So...that's the story so far. Kind of crazy, right? Here I am - alone for literally the first time in my life. It was kind of an odd feeling actually - I had wanted to be alone, even wanted my family to just be gone back when the world was still...well, the world. Now that they were gone? I was pretty lost.

But at that time? I was still just numb.

And well...it's a bit embarrassing what happened next...

*******

Kel walked aimlessly, his eyes pointed to the heavens and his feet shuffling across the ground.

"Mel is ok for now it seems...but Mother is still gone" he spoke aloud, to no one in particular. "So I guess I should search for Mother. Problem is, I think I need to get stronger."

Kel remembered how Walker had used what looked like magic back on the Last Day. If he can do it - it must be possible, right?

"Well, that settles it" he spoke with newfound purpose. "I will become powerful. Powerful enough that nothing will ever stop me again. Then I will find Mum - find Mel. And Walker will answer."

With new purpose to his step, Kel strode forward...

And right off a cliff.

******

Yea...I have no idea why I am even telling you about this. I should just skip this part and pretend it never happened.

I walked off a cliff, ok? Yes, that is how I died. I still don't actually know what happened next to be honest, but somehow I am still here...

Walker stood in the sky; his feet planted on nothing but air, and stared down in disbelief.

"I...wait really? Did he seriously just...die? Like that?" he whispered, completely flabbergasted.

"Of everything that could have happened, I didn't see this one" he continued, stroking his chin in contemplation. "Dying, sure - but this is a new one" he finished with a smile.

"No worries little brother - I would never leave you without help. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do for you right now, but I did find something in my travels. This just makes it...easier to use" his voice echoed as his body dissolved like smoke in the wind.

Kel slowly opened his eyes. Though still blurry, he could make out the blue sky overhead.

Then his last memories came crashing back and he jolted upright, his breathing ragged and his heart trying to force itself out of his chest.

Falling, I remember falling he thought frantically, instinctively putting his hands on the ground beside him. Taking a few deep breaths, Kel closed his eyes and tried to calm himself.

There was a cliff he thought, looking around. He found himself in a small glade, the sun filtering through the trees above him. The grass was short and vibrantly green, bordering the bluest pond he had ever seen. The serenity of the setting did wonders to calm him.

He did notice one thing though - no cliff. This was definitely not where he had fallen.

"How did I even get here" he whispered to himself, the sunlight falling across his face warm and welcoming.

"You must be awful special to someone" a small voice nearby startled him out of his revere. Glancing around, he eventually saw what looked like a tiny woman sitting next to the pond, staring back at him.

She was absolutely beautiful. Her soft green hair fell down her back, cascading onto the grass around her. Kel had thought the grass was vibrant, but her hair was absolutely gorgeous - not to mention her tiny eyes, which matched the color of her hair perfectly. The slight green tint to her skin complemented her image perfectly.

"Who are you?" Kel asked curiously, turning to face her. She didn't answer, just tilted her head to the side and continued staring at him.

"Umm...ok? How about - why are the colors so bright now? And the sun feels so warm on my skin!" he asked instead. He had noticed it the longer he was awake, but everything seemed much brighter than he remembered.

"You must be awful special to someone" she repeated, standing up. A pair of tiny translucent blue wings unfolded from her back, forcing her hair between them as they opened. Her wings started flapping at the same speed as a humming bird's, and again Kel was shocked he could see every flap as she approached to circle him - continuing to stare at him in curiosity.

"What's your name" Kel asked after a moment - realizing he wasn't going to get an answer to either of his previous questions.

"Oh, I'm Benutriapella Evitres Elialpelodopolianna" she stopped circling for a moment to smile at him, giving a slight bow in mid-air.

Kel just stared at her for a moment. "Uhh...what?"

She gave a small giggle and Kel realized she seemed to be quite young. "You can call me Tria for short" she giggled again.

"Nice to meet you Tria" Kel smiled and nodded back. "Do you know how I got here?"

"Yep" she responded sincerely, staring him in the eyes earnestly.

Kel waited for a moment to see if she was going to elaborate. Apparently, she wasn't.

"Mind telling me how?" he finally asked.

"Nope" she flashed him a smile.

Oh for all that is good Kel internally moaned, keeping his face a perfect mask of politeness. "Nope as in you won't tell me, or nope as in you don't know" he eventually prodded the tiny girl floating in the air in front of him.

"Yep" she responded exuberantly, flying in a small circle.

Kel could feel the smile plastered to his face. "So" he continued slowly, "how did I get here?"

"You showed up!" she responded triumphantly.

Kel couldn't catch himself in time to stop the facepalm.

"Tria never ever gets visitors here!" she continued ecstatically. "No one ever makes it this far!"

"Wait, what do you mean - this far?" Kel asked warily, glancing around.

"The Fairy Glade silly" she answered, flying forward to tap his nose with her tiny hand. "You must be awful strong to make it here! And, you are so handsome too!" she finished, a small blush on her cheeks.

Kel smiled and blushed in response.

"Actually, I don't know how I got here" he answered, trying to cover up his embarrassment.

"Oh, I already told you" she stopped to nod seriously, "You showed up."

Right.

Sighing, Kel stood up to walk over to the pond. The tiny shriek from Tria stopped him in his tracks.

"You, you, you - you SMOOSHED it" she cried, staring at the grass where he had been sitting. "You smooshed it flat!" she wailed.

"I uhh" Kel stammered, "I am very sorry - I didn't mean to-"

But it was no use. The tiny fairy girl had fallen to the ground, petting the grass where he had been sitting and heaving great sobs; tears rolling down her face.

Kel just stood there, hoping she wouldn't notice the grass under his feet. He could only imagine how crushed she would be if she saw that.

"Why did you have to do that?" she finally asked tearfully, wiping her face with the palms of her tiny hands. "What did the poor grass ever do to you?"

"I didn't" Kel stammered, "Well grass is really strong you see - it will bounce right back!" he finished with false exuberance.

She just looked at him like he was an idiot.

"Well duh, its not like you killed it" she pointed out matter-of-factly.

That's what I woke up too after falling off a cliff. Seriously - I don't remember anything else.

And sure, Tria was a bit odd but...well, you'll see.
