Viktor and I were about to embark on an impossible mission. He had cooked up a plan that seemed impossible, but he was determined to see it through. I, not so much.
"It's really simple," he said, his voice steady and certain. "I draw his attention and you go for the kill."
I stared at him, incredulous. "Sounds really simple," I said, doubt dripping from my words. "Are you sure it's going to work?"
A grin grew on his face. "The shorter the plan, the better it will work," he said, his tone light and confident.
"Okay, mate," I said, trying to contain my skepticism. "But just so you know, it's your funeral. He wants me alive, but you, dead."
Viktor laughed. "That's a risk I'm willing to take," he said. He stood up, brushing himself off, and retrieved the two guns that had fallen beside us. One was close by, but the other one had landed farther away, out of his reach.
I stood up and we both cautiously advanced, guns raised. As we drew closer to our target, Viktor continued to lay out his plan once more.
"I'll draw his attention while you get close," he said, his voice soft as a whisper. He paused for a moment before continuing.
"But, just make sure you keep a low profile. Just because you don't have any Ki in you, doesn't mean he won't be able to sense you coming."
He gave me one last look of reassurance before withdrawing a clip from his back pocket and clicking it into his gun. "Ready?" he asked me, determination flashing in his eyes. I nodded my head
"Go!" Viktor exclaimed as he sprung into motion. Everything around us seemed to move in slow motion and I heard gunshots echoing in the air while Viktor was shooting at our target. My mind instantly filled with doubt and anxiety, but I felt something inside that compelled me forward, so I ran away from the area as quickly as I could.

Viktor released a few rounds first and then dashed ahead of me. He used the bullets for shelter to take Martial Gold by surprise. It worked and Mar was too busy defying the shots to notice Viktor's strong punch connecting with his Jaw. The force knocked him off his feet and threw him back into a container which bore a dent where he fell.
Damn! If he had this much power left, why does he need me? Then I looked at him and saw him bent over trying to get his breath back. His strength must have been sapped, considering the wound on his chest, but he kept pushing through it.
I took my position by moving out of sight from Martial Gold and sneaking behind some containers. I peered out from behind them and locked eyes with Viktor who gave me a nod. I returned the gesture.
The Martial Gold got to his feet, brushing dirt off of himself. "You still had this much juice in you, Gaijin," he said, shaking his head.
Viktor spat a mouthful of blood and saliva onto the ground before straightening himself and stretching his arms. "How do you know who we are?"
The Martial Gold relaxed his stance. "Heard it from our leader. Our target was from some of the members of the Gaijin Defence Group. Didn't think a bunch of backward terrorists would have someone like you in the midst." He let out a soft chuckle before his expression grew serious once again. "Maybe I've been underestimating them."
Viktor smirked at him. "No, I'm just the exception," he remarked as he stepped forward, gun raised and aimed right at him. The Martial Gold didn't flinch or move an inch; he simply stared directly into Viktor's eyes with unwavering determination.
My heart skipped a beat as I watched on from my hiding spot, but I knew that Viktor was up for the challenge and had the upper hand in this fight. He kept his gaze locked on to our enemy and took another step forward, shoving his gun closer to him until it almost touched his chest.
Martial Gold pointed his Katana at Viktor. “Then the exception dies today.”
Viktor grinned. “Heh, the day I die is fixed. But it is not today.”
The Martial Gold sprinted towards Viktor; he swiped his sword downwards in defense. Still, the Martial Gold was faster and jumped backwards before Viktor could fire his gun. The Martial Gold didn't stop there; while wielding the Katana in one hand, he backhanded Viktor with the other.
Viktor staggered from the blow. He managed to switch his gun to his other hand and pointed it upwards in a low angled position. However, before he could fire a shot, the Katana knocked the gun out of his hands. It came slashing at him quickly but Viktor managed to pull away just in time. Though it still left a deep gash in his chest.
Breathing heavily and clutching his wound, Viktor had only a few moments to think of something, before the Martial Gold came back down on him. I had to do something, because it seems like he was loosing time.
